  1. I think the 1st round will have some suprises, but will be very suprised if in the end it is not eagleville and forrest playing fot the top slot. Both of these teams are playing like they are on a mission this year, and that will be the edge. PS to fresh: I told the boys about some of the trash talk. They had some interesting responses, but mostly they said they expected it this year. But our 5'8" freshman guard said his biggest regret in the forrest game was that he didn't get a chance to block shankle. I guess you better watch out next game. You gotta give the kid credit, he is all heart!
  2. Andrews at Liberty Middle scored 30pts in a middle school tourny. I think he goes to Shelbyville next year. With the younger Twilly already there, Shelbyville boys may really be on a roll. I have seen this kid play, even though he was on the other side I enjoyed watching him.
  3. Heard an interesting story last time we played forrest at chapel hill. I asked about that great shooting sophmore guard: someone told me his name was schnapp (hope I got the spelling right), and that he had an older brother who was even better, had an inside game as well as a good dribble and shot, but had quit the team the year before. I wonder? If your that big brother I imagine you would give our kids a game, because that sophmore boy is a player. But you have no call to bad mouth the four kids I talked about. They are players. Their taking there lumps now but it's not lack of talent, its a lack of age and experience; and that will heal itself. I was joking about the upset thing, thought that was plain to see what with the lol symbol and all, but not about our boys puttting on a show before this season is over. If the coach takes off the governor even one time the talent will tell. Anyone who has watched them enough will testify to the ability.
  4. Jeez, and here I am saying all these nice things about forrest. Still pouting after the eagleville game I guess. Thats ok kid, get your laughs while you can. Unless you can clone shankle it is going to be hard times at forrest high after next year. I sure hope you are a player and not some kid in the bleachers living vicariously. I really want to watch you try to guard wilder, or justin, or dustin, or david. PS: never worked for NASA, but I did work with them on two projects. Don't fence with me youngster, your sword isn't big enough or sharp enough.
  5. no joke, those chapel hill girls are pretty tough. lets see, since our freshman can take your jv, and since it would be an upset for our boys to take your girls....that means your underclassmen can't take your girls either
  6. Well, if it comes down to a coin toss, I go with therickbol's idea and we let crackerjack10 pick. Hey folks, if the scores and records don't fall in favor of a team, they are the underdog. That doesn't mean they can't win, underdogs frequently do, that is what makes basketball so fun. Eagleville went into the game as the underdog and came out champs. Kudos Eagles
  7. Roger that. It is amazing how folks in here keep dismissing Eagleville! What do these boys have to do to prove how good they are? Twenty wins; tied for 1st in the district with only 1 loss; they have proved they can score points and then they come out of a defensive struggle with a win. The upset team is Community! Our boys are going to put on a show at least once this year, if the coach lightens up on the reins a little, just to let everyone know what they are going to have to deal with for the next few years.
  8. Forrest and Eagleville fight it out for 1st and 2d Van Buren and Cascade tussle for 3d and 4th MTCS and Community wrestle for 5th and 6th Boyd is 7th. Forrest, Eagleville, Van Buren and Cascade go to Region. Forrest and or Eagleville go to the next level. That is my guess.
  9. What is going on here? Two good teams play a big game and most of the posts are about players misbehaving. What happened to the basketball? Come on folks!
  10. Yo, Baller88. I did not disrespect anyone. I said three things plainly: (1) eagleville should win these games. Based on the records and the last heads up match that is a reasonable expectation; (2) They risk a loss in either game. Based on how close the matchup games were and the fact that both cascade and vb are good teams either or both could pull an upset; (3) the final standings are MY prediction for the most likely outcome. I hope eagleville is not offended that I think it most likely that page will win their rematch. I have enjoyed watching eagleville for years, I realy like that team and that school, but it would be an upset of classic proportions for eagleville to beat page twice this year. And Forrest, please don't be offended that I think it most likely that you are the underdogs in the cully and summertown games. Just based on the the record its reasonable. Thank you though for the info on how the tie is broken. If I understand you, the overall and region records do not count. If by next highest team, you mean in the district; then we can't know the outcomes until aftyer the Eagleville VB game. WOW, Eagleville really upset the apple cart with that win; this one goes down to the wire unless cascade or vb can upset eagleville.
  11. Oh I am sure all of our boys will enjoy their matchups. I just love to watch a great defender play a great shooter man on man. It's more fun than watching two great post players in the paint because the perimeter positions use more of the court.
  12. Help me out here. If the district records for forrest and eagleville end in a tie, and they split their matchup, who gets the crown? Is it the region record, overall record, spin the bottle? Eagleville has to face VB and cascade again, they should win these two, but there is the risk of another loss or two in district play. Now thats a bit of a chuckle, Forrest will have to be rooting for a cascade or VB win. Eagleville's toughest challenge is the rematch with Page. Most likely finish: 11-1 district 23-3 overall. Forrest will win both of their district matches against MTCS and Community, but they have to face Cully and Summertown again. Both teams beat them soundly last time. Most likely finish: 11-1 district, 18-10 overall.
  13. As well as forrest and eagleville are playing it is hard to belive the region champ will not be one of these two. Forrest is more consisitent so they have the edge, but a team like eagleville can be very dangerous in a tournament.
  14. Van Buren is not overated. They are rated exactly where their performance puts them. A good team, well coached and a player or two from being a top team. That player may be sitting on their bench right now. Boys do grow and get better year to year. Unfortunately for y'all (not just vb) the 07-08 season is going to belong to the vikings so just make your plans around that.
  15. Roger that baller 88! In that vain, I sure hope our pg can get well before we play VB again. That will be a great matchup if the coaches play it that way.
  16. is plemons playing guard or forward?
  17. You start a string. Other people give answers that are different than yours so you: a. debate and reason b. carry on a light hearted exchange contending the opinions. c. throw a temper tantrum and bad mouth the ball players on other teams. You chose poorly kid. The shooters from VB and Eagleville we have been discussing are clearly top contenders to your question. And I think I spent some time priaisng a few of your younger boys. Get a grip. For the record. The mostly freshman community team has won more games this year already than the community varsity squad won all year long last year. I know that forrest has had community to their middle school tourny for the last few years in additon to the regular games and the spring camps; and you know how good the community freshman and sophmores are. So why that comment? If any team in this district put 3 fresh, 1 soph and 1 sr on the court against the other teams varsity for the whole game they would be lucky to have any wins let alone 5. Talent aside, the size and experience of 17 and 18 year olds against 15 year olds is tough to overcome. Speaking of which, ask the forrest sophmores what they think of the community freshman and sophmores. You know, the guys they lost too. They might say many things, but not that our boys don't have talent.
  18. I agree on Randolf and Plemons. Alot of the things a good player does for a basketball team never show up in the stats. But when you are talking about shooting the stats have got to be huge factor. These two boys have high point totals and high three point averages. From watching them play, they have sweet shots and can shoot the jumper with a man on. I have seen alot of Randolf, but little of Plemons. I know for a fact Randolf can create his own looks and to me that gives him an edge. In the youger set, who do not yet get alot of court time: Forrest has 2 that I have seen, numbers 20 and 12. #20 is a prodigy when he has an open look in 3 point land, like white at community. White is big enough to be effective closer in and can score short jumpers with a man on, I don't think forrest's #20 will have that part of the shooting game. Forrest's #12 moves real well on the court and backs it up with a nice jump shot, he is a shooter for sure. I have seen quite a bit of cascade and can't think of any unerclassman shooters, how about at VB? One of the Aldafer boys at eagleville also has a sweet shot outside, but I can never keep the two straight--eagles fans which one is he? Also I saw one or two young gunners at the camp last spring, who are they?
  19. Two evenly matched teams. Who wants it more? Should be a real good game to watch :
  20. I do not have a grudge, honestly I do not. I love watching that guy coach his team. I was out of line though, so thanks for calling me on it. I appologize, I should know better. A friend with kids at chapel hill, not basketball players by the way, told me that story in casual conversation. it rankled me, but I should not have repeated it.
  21. Based on Forrest's convincing win last time they faced Eagleville, I would tend to agree this should be a Forrest night. But dang, those eagles are playing some great basketball too! The only thing you can safely predict is a great night of basketball between two great teams. Maybe it will be a barn burner like the Van Buren game

  23. I do not recall saying anything at all negative about the community coach. (I think he is a fine man also) I set the record straight on his deliberate choice to go with a young team. The gamble is not the talented players who will be his starting linup, they will all be a force in the region. The gamble is can he bring along a group to provide a solid bench. Not only has he gambled once on youth, he is gambling twice. Its a gutsy move. Again, does he have or can he get the right stuff to make this gamble pay off, only time will tell. I thought that was a compliment. As to the forrest comment, the team is made up of almost 25% kids who are in their 1st year at forrest, upperclassman transfers from big schools mostly. Unusual for 1A ball you have to admit. Recruiting is a strength for their coach. If you take that as a critisism I can't help that.
