  1. Congratulations to both teams - what a game. I am a BA fan through and through, but after a game like that I hate that a team had to lose. Gotta love the fact that the game was decided on a gutsy call and a well executed play vs. a mistake or a blown call .
  2. Good luck as you finish up your MBA and begin life in the "real world". I sincerely hope that you and your brother will be back on the Mic for ESBN next year. You guys brought some great insights to the games and made those times I couldn't be there in person enjoyable. Even with the occasional bad pun . . .
  3. Great game for the BA family last night! I thought the coaching staff did a great job -- they clearly took some of the lessons from the MBA loss to heart. Took points when they were available, managed the clock at the end . . . A rematch would be fun to watch. Beating a team like Ensworth twice would be a tall task, but as a fan, I hope to get the chance to see it!
  4. Hope you have your color commentatorthere as well . . . always enjoy the Boling and Boling show!
  5. If you didn't make the trip to Chattanooga to watch the game, I'd encourage you to got to the Brentwood Academy web site and click on the link to watch the game on ESBN. The game is being called by WesVLT and his brother Will. Great job by the Boling Brothers!
  6. Here is a link to an article in the Brentwood Home Page about the search . . . http://www.brentwoodhomepage.com/ba-coaching-job-draws-over-70-applicants-cms-7554
  7. I wonder if this guess warrants a little more consideration. Ward is the current head football coach at Westbury Christian school in Houston which is a small, independent Christian school that focuses on three areas of emphasis -- Spiritual, Academic, and Student Activities (sounds familiar . . .). He got out of professional coaching (NBA) after the 2007 season and accepted the job as head coach at Wesbury Christian, stating that "... his desire is to help prepare young minds for Christ." Interesting . . .
  8. Sorry . . . it followed a sentence that started with "Last time . . . " so I misunderstood your meaning. I would be very surprized is Coach Flatt wasn't given at least a behind the scenes role or consulted in any way. He is very much a part of the school and many of those who are very involved with the decision are close to him.
  9. I think gofans was saying that last time (when coach Potter was hired) it was a one may search and that Coach Flatt had no input . . . My understanding is that this was not the case. I think Coach Flatt had input and endorsed the hiring of Coach Potter.
  10. Watched the first part of the game (from home). It was fun to see Jabaree as one of the captains for Navy, shaking hands with the President prior to the coin toss! Great to see. Congratulations to both Jabaree and Mason Graham who finished their football careers with the Mid-Shipmen today and will now serve their country.
  11. Well said WesVLT. I didn't have a lot of contact with Coach Potter and am not qualified to comment on the football aspects of this (which, as I read some of the comments on various threads I have come to understand is not really a pre-requisit ). I do know that his wife and two kids are very well liked at BA. This will be a tough transition for them and for their friends.
  12. Wow . . . I understand that for a minute it even looked like BA might have come up with the ball on CB's final snap? I heard that Woody Barron jumped over and came up with the ball, but was off sides? In the end it doesn't matter. Great win for Christian Brothers who looked very sharp for 3+ quarters. Good luck in Chattanooga . . .
  13. My apologies - Final was 37 - 34 (I admit to flipping the live feed off when CB took the ball over after BA missed the 4th down and CB was taking a knee . . .). Aparenlty BA go the ball back on a bad punt snap and scored with a few seconds left). Maybe good I flipped it off . . . not sure my heart could have taken any more.
  14. Final: Christian Brothers 37 BA 27. BA finally decided to show up in the 4th quarter and made a game of it (aided by the CB boys letting up a little I suspect), but in the end it was too little to late. BA missed executing a 2 pt conversion, 3 or 4 onside kick attempts and a 4th and 1 and Christain Brothers advances to play Baylor with a well earned win. BA's Al Thompson (Receiver who has signed with AZ State) was taken off of the field on a back board. He was moving both his legs and his arms, but he took a huge hit. Praying he is OK . . . Good luck to Christian Brothers next week. I suspect the winner of the game will get Ensworth in the finals (I'm assuming they beat Ryan?). I'd love to see somebody knock them off . . .
  15. Christian Brothers 21 BA 7 at the half. CB has scored on a 3rd and 5 pass (beat a blitz) and a QB keeper for 60 yards and a blocked punt. BA broke a run for 79 yards (to the one) and scored with a couple minutes left to stay in the game. Christian Brothers came to plan and BA hasn't shown up yet. . .
  16. Your definition of recruiting is "This was handled somewhat awkwardly"?? Really?
  17. I don't have any details on Woody Barron, but he was on the field after the game with the team and seemed to be OK. My son (who is a senior at BA but doesn't play) said they thought he was OK. I'd also like to know if #9 for Baylor is OK. He took quite a shot on Baylor's last drive and came out of the game with an obvious shoulder injury. I think he was the receiver who caught Baylor's TD in the first half.
  18. Well, it did indeed come down to Baylor's kicker. He missed from 54 yards as time expired and BA won 10-7. Exciting game as BA drove 70+ yards in the final 1:30 to take the lead. BA looked to be the better team but made way to many mistakes (penalties, dropped passes etc.). I thought the refs had a bad game - you just don't call a side line infraction (15 yards) with .15 left to go. . . The best "call" of the night was the BA announcer with " . . . and Baylor is stopped Again for no gain!" (referencing what we BA fans thought was a very bad spot of the ball . . . WesVlt . . . that one was for you). I wouldn't be surprised to see these two teams meet again.

    BA-Stratford

BA wins 42-21. Stratford scored its last 2 touchdowns agains 2nd and 3rd teams, but they are a fast team and had a lot of fight. They only had 27 dressed out for the game and by then end I thought there were running out of gas. The game got a little chippy for a while and there were a bunch of personal fouls (primarily on Stratford), but both team seemed to settle down after the half. The outcome wasn't ever really in doubt but Stratford surprized me -- they were tougher than I though they'd be.
  20. Trinity travelled well, but there were not more KY fans than TN . . . at least not until the 4th quarter. Good luck MBA -- I'd love to see a win!
  21. I didn't see the game, but from the comments I've read and the recap in the paper this morning it sounds like BA played another sloppy game (paper referenced 2 TD's called back by penalty and a roughing the punter call on the winning drive). BA clearly benefited on the other side from a special teams error so maybe things evened out, but it sounds like for the 3rd game in a row BA had too many penalties and errors to beat a good team (we beat a good BGA team after getting it together in the second half). After the Olive Branch game (which was played with almost no penalties or errors) I had hoped the team had developed some discipline. It seems to have been missing these past 3 games. When you play teams like Ensworth and Baylor (and MBA in a couple of weeks!) you have to bring your best each time or you will get beat. Congratulations to Baylor -- sounds like the QB put on quite a show.
  22. Thanks for the update. As a BA fan that is tough to swallow . . . Congratulations to Baylor.
  23. Has anyone heard a score? I know Baylor took the opening kick and drove for a 7-0 lead, but that's been an hour ago . . .
  24. I'm pretty sure he played the game last night and I didn't see him taken off. What makes you ask?
  25. Congrats to Ensworth on a big win. BA just made too many mistakes to win a game against a team that good. Four interceptions (the last one from the 13 as time expired) will get you beat every time. Ensworth is big and looked to be the fastest team BA has seen all year. It was a defensive struggle in the second half and Ensworth made the most of their opportunities. They played a good game. I hope we get another shot at them in the post season . . . (or maybe I should be careful whatI wish for!)
