  1. Before you respond to a post, please think before you type. I was not even talking about High School
  2. Tipton right? yeah I was not able to go up to any games this year, but kept track of them on the internet and radio. Hopefully they'll be able to get some good new recruits along with the nucleus that they already have in place. From what I understand they had a pretty young squad this year. I'm not sure but once again just from what I read online. Hopefully Clayton will get em back on track and back to their winning ways.
  3. Thanks for the compliments. It is good to hear a fellow Eagle show the sportsmanship that I am accustomed to from all Carson Newman students. I saw where they lost a nail biter to PC the other night in the First Round of the conference tournament. Hopefully next year they will be able to get back to what CN B-ball is all about.
  4. If anyone was at the game, how did it play out? Who was hot for Bearden? I was at work and wasn't able to attend the game. I'm just glad that we have made it back to substate and hopefully the Dawgs will be able to repeart the performance the last time they met Powell in the Region Championship back in 94. That year was the first year made it to Murfreesboro and hopefully can make it back this year. Way to good Bulldogs and congrats to Maryville on an excellent season.
  5. I think he did come from Webb...my bad. But it still would have been nice to have him at Bearden for Bball and Football. I wish I were able to be at the game tonight but don't get off work till 7 pm. I wish that it were on the radio? does anyone know if it is?
  6. What is so great about Basketball is that any given team can win on any given night..ie UK over UT last night. I think tonights game between Maryville and Bearden should be the best one yet this year. It has the most importance of any of the three other games that have been played to this point. One team's strenght is the others weakness and vice versa. If the Bulldogs are hitting their shots from the outside and are playing their up tempo style that they are acustomed to, the I favor Bearden in this one. However, if the Bulldogs are missing, then I think the advantage goes to the Rebels. The Rebels are huge inside and can dominate the boards. If sure would have been nice if Bearden would have been able to have kept Aaron Douglas at Bearden. Either way it will be a great game and 4-AAA will be represented well in the Substate and hopefully the state. Good luck to both teams!!!
  7. Bearden defeats Halls in the first round of the Regiona 2-AAA Tournament....1-0 4-AAA vs 3-AAA. Way to go Dogs
  8. 1-0 4-AAA vs 3-AAA Bearden defeats Halls in the first round of the Region 2-AAA Tounrment
  9. Good luck to all teams playing tonight. It should almost be halftime of the first game between Halls and Bearden. It's killing me to be at work right now and not know what the score is or how the game is going. If Bearden came to play today and they are hitting their shots from outside, I would hope that they are winning the game. I just hope that the Red Devils don't end the Bulldogs season like they did a few years back. By the way Tony White is the best point guard in Knoxville....PERIOD!!!
  10. who do you think you are kid!!! Cameron Sharp is a player but he has nothing on Jared Laveridere of AC. He can flat out handle the rock and can get his shot off whenever he wants to. I tell you what he has got Sharpe down low on the block to try and he can step out and shoot the trey from way down town. I tell you what, Ole Goldie needs to step it up. He needs to get to the block and throw down the hammer...actually I don't think he can jump that high. He needs to learn how to use his height and dominate the block. I think that the coaches really need to do a better job of developing their big men. I think that Eldridge does a great job of the talent that he has. I think however it begins at the Freshman level. I think the success of the program begins with the development of the younger players and that all goes back by to coaching. I think Coach Lollar was a fine ball player when he played at Maryville but he needs to step up his level of coaching and get with the program. I think that the Mavs will be alright in the long run and hopefully can make a surprise run in the region. Go MAVS!!!
  11. WOW...this just goes to show you anything can happen come tournament time. Both the #1 and #2 seeds from both district tournaments lost their semi final games and now it if all the higher seeds would have won, the seeding for the region tournament would have been the exact same as it is now. That is wild. Good luck to all teams playing this week, just wish it was not all the way in Sevierville. This should be some really great B-ball being played this week. Also, what about Oak Ridge and Heritage girls having to play in the first round.
  12. Congratulations to Bearden's Tony White Jr. An excellent ball player and once he adds some size, he should do very well where ever he decides to go. I don't ever remember seeing three finalists like we have in Class AA!!! WOW...wish all three were coming to UT instead of Chism.... Imagine the class we would have had if we could have gotten those three + Wright out of BA....it would have been very intresting to see how Pearl would have used those guys
  13. TONY WHITE JR....CLASS AAA Mr. Basketball Finalist....yet he's overrated!!! Please now. The Kid can flat out play and it is evidence by his selction as a finalist for Mr. Basketball. You may be the only one who thinks that Tony White is not good....now Lee and Tony both have something in common
  14. That's an ignorant comment. Tony White is not overrated there partner....when you put up 51 on your arch rival, that is a sign of a pretty good ball player. Why even compare Humphrey and White. Both are excellent ball players and both excelled at what they do. Lee hit a huge shot against the Vols last night and just shows that he is an SEC callibar player. White once he gets to prep school and gets some size on him will be an excellent ball player. If you were at the Bearden Farragut name, you would not be saying that he is overrated. He single handly won that game for the Bulldogs. Farragut attempted to have two guys guarding him and he out dribbled them all. When you can create your own shot like Tony does, you usally are not considered overrated. When you avg over 22 a game like Tony does, that is not overrated my friend...that is flat out a Ball Player, just like Humphrey is. Over rated...you gotta be kiddin me...please next time Jimmy...THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK!!!
  15. Congrats to the Rebels and a well deserved victory last night. I wasn't at the game, but saw the highlights and read the news sentinal. Good luck Friday night against Farragut and hopefully 4-AAA will compete very well in the Region Tournament next week. Too bad it's all the way up in Sevier County...that is the farthest place to travel in the region, other than Campbell County. From what I read in the paper, White played very well, but the Rebels dominated the glass.
  16. I'll have to go check out the Mavricks play and see how good ole Coach Lollar is. From what I've heard he has put on a few pounds now and can't shoot that well anymore. It happens to us all
  17. Here is the results for 4-AAA all district teams. Pretty good squad and all well deserved. The coach of the year could have gone either way, not sure how Blevins who led Bearden to its' best regular season ever (other than the 93-94 season) didn't win, but the William Blount coach is very desrving of the award Coach of the Year: David Baumann William Blount MVP: Tony White Jr. (Bearden) Marcus Huie (Farragut) B.J. Browning (Farragut) Rande Sibley(Bearden) B.J. Ware (Bearden) Jordan Glasgow (William Blount) Josh Hilbert (William Blount) Kent Basile (Maryville) Tyler Maples (Maryville) James Feezel (Maryville) Gary Tucker (Maryville) Chad Zurcher (South Doyle) Keith Bauer (Heritage) Congrats to all the young men who made All District. This year's tournament at Farragut should be very exciting and there are at least 4 teams who I honestly believe have a shot at winning. Good luck to all teams
  18. I don't think that the Bulldogs would mind playing them right now. If White comes back to full strength from his shoulder injury, the Bulldogs will be just fine. With a coach like Mark Blevins, it will be intresting to see how they fare in both district and region tournaments. Good thing for Bearden that they finished 13-1 in the district regular season and have already clinched a spot in the Region Tournament. By the way, I think that Maryville has seen its glory days in football, let's let others enjoy the spot light. I do recall back in 98 that the Rebels had a remendous guard. I think his name was Lollar. That kid could flat out shot the rock and had mad skills. anyone ever know what happened to him? did he go on to play any college ball?
  19. White is out with a shoulder injury. they are not sure if he will be ready for the first district tournament game. thank goodness they are already in the Region Tournament.....Jenkins has not played since before christmas. Back injury I believe
  20. Take Jordan away from the Bulls and they don't win much either. But Congrats to the Powell Panthers for the big win. It is huge to have such a huge upset on your home floor. This could be a preview of the first round of the region tournament at Sevier County, that is if the Bulldogs can take care of buisness in the District. Next time around with Tony White Jr playing, the dogs will be a little tougher. I don't think it is a matter that the Bulldogs took the Panthers lightly. I just think that they were outmanned. Without the Bulldogs leading scorer and playmaker to only lose by 2 points to a talented Panther squad, you must give all the Bearden players alot of credit for hanging around and making a game of it till the end
  21. The region tournament is actually at Sevier County this year. The district 4-AAA is a Farragut and that place should be rockin.
  22. a great player creates his own shot. If that takes getting hammered to do it and go to the FT line then so be it. A lot of two point shots down low can't make up for the long bombs outside the arc. If the Bulldogs are hitting on all cyclendars, they will be tough to beat. Demonte Simpson is coming on strong, so be careful what you wish for
  23. 28-2....the record speaks for itself. If the Rebels had them beat at MHS, how come they couldn't beat them?
