  1. Not if the bigger, faster, and more talented team also has determination and more determination. Are you naive enough to think that Boone players are the only football players that are "determined" to win? You don't get to the 2nd round of the playoffs without being "determined" to win.
  2. South and North not playing each other totally disputes your argument, because North chose not to play so they could get an easier opponent after they got throttled by South in 08. South, on the other hand had no choice but to play tougher competition because they could not get a weaker school to play them.
  3. "We are picking ourselves up out of the near ruin of a program" quote by 02RaiderDad Didn't North win the Region championship just a few years ago. If that is "near ruin", I'm sure many programs would love to be "near ruin"
  4. When did South start running the Wing-T?? Is Dickie Jones back?
  5. This link will give you some scores. The Hill had a tough go, but looks like there was a considerable amount of schools that have a great tradition, so it must have made the Toppers better for going. http://www.goupstate.com/article/20090709/...down-scoreboard
  6. I can agree with you Couchqb on "somewhere in the middle". Mo-West was a 70% run -30% pass, (school website has K.Shepard with 40 rushing att.; a school record) The Greeneville loss was about 60% pass - 40% run. I think somewhere around 60% run to 40% pass would be ideal. But game situations call for adjustments. Anyway, we do have a talented backfield with depth, great receivers (though no burners, unless we move Pendleton and Howard to receiver), and a potential 1,200- 1,500 yd passer. Could be exciting on any play whether run or pass!! Go Vikes!
  7. Are you talking about the playoff game where Keenan carried it 40 times and THS won or the game where THS threw the ball 33 times and lost? "Ugly win" or "Pretty loss".
  8. Tell us more about TL, ( like his name). Is that the Head Coach from Oneida? Is he one of the 4 finalists? Who are the other 3?
  9. Just a few suggestions for negative posters: 1. If you want to be a coach, .... do it. Go to school get certified, get hired somewhere and THEN make the hard coaching decisions. It is very easy to make "armchair" decisions when there are no repercussion. Try being on the sidelines and making that call with all eyes on you. Maybe a little harder to do. And you can argue all you want about having nerve and "growing a set"... it's just not the same as actually making decisions during a game. 2. If you are a coach... have a little more respect for others in your profession. 3. If you are not a coach... how about supplying your name and place of employment so maybe these coaches can come and critique your performance at your place of employment. 4. If you are a parent... support your coaching staff. SUPPORT your coaching staff. If you fill your son's heads with garbage about how this coach is stupid and that coach is wrong.... well, your son is going to beleive you and not buy into what the team is trying to do. As long as your coaches are doing their best and not harming your children, count yourself lucky. Next time you start to bash a coach... just think about it first. Is this in the best interest of the team.
  10. The point to be made is that Sullivan North coaching staff has done a great job with the talent pool they have been given. That pool just got a little bit deeper this year with the "additions". Go Raiders!!
  11. Who are you referring to when you say "those kids" ? Are you talking about all the ex-Indians on the team. Because "those kids" have kinda experienced playoffs at DB many times. Just wondering.
  12. Let me just say this, There is a reason that "coaching" is better in the rest of the state. It is the same reason that very few D-1 scholarships are given out in NET. It is called "ATHLETES". We have some very good "HIGH SCHOOL" athletes in NET, but that doesn't always translate into college athletic material. Go to other parts of the state and observe the athletes that these schools have. There really is no comparison. You really do have great coaches in NET because they accomplish much more with much less than other coaches across the state.
  13. Scott has done a commendable job. But if I had a vote for Coach of the Year in the Five Rivers Conference, it would have to go to Kent Green of David Crockett. But still a great job by the Falcon Staff.
  14. Anderson County....bring back "TL" and get the ship back sailing in the right direction. Is that Deal guy in charge at AC ? Make your first big decision and get Lambert back in the fold. I still think AC wins this game because Scott don't beat AC!! Go Mavs!!
  15. Coach Tony "Maddog" Lambert's "D" has been stellar ALL year long. The Indians will be tough as usual there. A little offense from their playmakers and Onieda pulls out the win. Good Luck Big Orange!!
  16. Who do you recruit? And what are you a Guru of?
  17. Bring back the MADDOG!!!! Comp, Chomp !!
  18. This is somewhat expected, but I am shocked at the timing. Thought it might be at year's end. Anyway, hate to see this anytime that a coach is unsuccessful. So many variables are involved in high school sports and the coach is usually the one to get all the blame. Don't know the situation at Central, some of the blame may fall on the staff, but alot of the blame for the lack of success has to fall back on players. But like I said I don't know Central's situation, just sorry for the school, current staff, and players. Good luck to Coach Searcy.
  19. It's all in fun my man .... be cool .... Good luck to 'Betsy !! Props for the Spurrier jab !!
  20. Seriously, tell us, ..... you do secretly keep a bulletin board, ... don't you? It's ok.
  21. You actually keep a bulletin board ?..... Dude, get a life.
  22. STRONG???? .... Does "Betsy" consider a "35-7" whipping strong?......C'mon, let's be real. They feel fortunate that the score wasn't worse than it was. If they think that their showing against DB was "strong", then the will defintely lose to the Hill in another "strong" showing.

    Bearden

No, Reddevil1, you are way off base. Since Bearden has made no further efforts to contact this man, aside from the first interview, I will not name him ( to avoid any undue pressure at his current school ). But it is safe to say that this man is a winner and has guided and help guide some good programs to some great wins. He could do the job for Bearden. But it looks as if time and an administration that does not have the kids or the program or winning in mind will prevent us from finding out.
