  1. This will be the seniors fourth trip to the Boro. They have Whitney Carter, a senior point guard that gets the team into their offensive sets. The inside game for greeneville is their strenght. In their sub-state game they combined for all of their points except 9. Nicole Dickson is a sophmore that can create and score whenever she wants. Ashley Deans(senior) is the other starting post for Greeneville. She will do all the little things that people don't like to do. She always is giving 100%. The wings are played by Morgan Lamons (senior) and Devan Mcyntire (junior). Morgan plays great defense. Devan did not play varsity last year, but she has stepped up and played good defense. Both wings can shoot the three and make big baskets. They have another post in Rachel Collins that comes in and plays big on the defensive end. Greeneville is defined by their defense. This year there has only been four teams to score over 40 points on them. We will have two different style teams playing each other in this first round match up. Will Northeast play man in the half-court defense? I am assuming that their offense is let Dawn create, score and pass ocassional?
  2. I don't see Greeneville getting into a run and gun style of game. They have not allowed that to happen at all this year. Does Northeast have a half-court offense? If so what is it? What type of defense will they play if their full court pressure is not effective?
  3. You made one (a--) of yourself by not just reading the post and moving on. I really don't care if you agree with me or not because believe me there are a lot of things that have been written which I do not agree. And I am not tired of hearing her (Crumbley) quotes, only the same quotes. I am wondering how do you know who give 100%? Are you playing in their shoes that night. It may appear it not 100% for any player, but their 100% at the moment. Just open your own eyes and be real to yourself! I don't agree with you, but oh well, it is your opinion whether I agree or not. Those same quotes you were talking about were only made once! I am not saying that your opinion is wrong. I just pointed out some other possibilites. I hope you can make it to the Boro and support the lady devils. So will you be going?
  4. I would definately not put Head on the all conference team. Gillis from Boone is a much better point guard than her. Head was unable to handle pressure and turned the ball over too many times.
  5. Round 1 Cleveland over Memphis Northside Greeneville over Clarksville NE Antioch over Memphis East Oak Ridge over Riverdale Round 2 Greeneville over Cleveland Oak Ridge over Antioch Finals Greeneville over Oak Ridge
  6. Is their full court pressure effective? Do they just try to apply pressure to speed up the game?
  7. You forgot to add Greeneville. This is their fourth straight trip to the Boro. They had some good crowd support at their sub-state game.
  8. Can anyone give me any input on this team? What style of offense do the play? Will they pressure the offense? Do they like to set up and run a half-court offense? Do they try to push the tempo and score a lot of points?
  9. Barb anything to help you out. Greeneville only trailed in this game once, Powell's lead only lasted on possession. From the opening tip Greeneville executed will. Greeneville played the game with a lot of discipline. They had "ZERO" turnovers in the first half. Nicole started the game bye scoring most of greenevilles points in the first quarter. Each member on the Lady Devils team were working without the ball and doing everything possible to win the ball game. Powell played some hard physical defense. I believe the past two games have benefited this team. Playing two close games made this game seem a little easier. Deans worked hard on both ends of the court. She did not score as much as she would have liked, but she was the leading rebounder on the team. Collins came in and played tremendous defense on the D-1 signee (Hollifield). Nicole started out guarding her, but picked up two silly fouls and forced the coaches to have someone else guard her. Greeneville did not shoot outside much. Devan had two go in and come back out. Lamons player her good defense. Whitney Carter stepped up big for the Lady Devils and hit some big shots. She distributed the ball well and ran the offense very well. Powell tried to pressure the Lady Devils, but were unable to create any turnovers. If it was not for the two three balls at the end of the fourth quarter Greeneville would have held their opponents under 40 points. If the lady Devils can continue to play the way they did then the possibilites are unlimited. Nicole decided to take over from the opening tip and proved to everyone that she is ready to carry this team. Overall it was a complete game from the Lady Devils Team. Good coaching through the game on both sides. Powell was a quality team, but was unable to match the play of the Lady Devils on this night.
  10. I don't believe that Nicole had a different game becuase she was able to touch the ball more. When she gets the ball she can make things happen, but she can also make some mistakes. I also don't believe that the season has been designed to make Deans have a great season. If you watch Deans play every game then you can never question if she is giving 100%. She works her tail off the whole game. There is several things you should look at before you start attacking and saying that Deans is not the player of the year. If you take Deans out of the picture this year you don't have a greeneville team that gets over 30 wins. Deans takes a lot of pressure off of Nicole. If Deans was not playing then you would have Nicole getting double teamed every time on the offensive end. However since Deans can score and rebound, the other team has to focus on her and Nicole. Nicole does not give 100% every game, but that is probably because of lack of competition. When she turns it on she can do whatever she wants. You also need to realize that Deans has been playing with a dislocated finger during the whole postseason. It is kind of hard to see how you are scik and tired of hearing Crumbley's quotes. There has only been a few this year. I believe the reference that you used is very correct of what the coaching staff views with Nicole. Everyone that watches the games can see unlimited potential in what Nicole can do. There is not on selfish player on this team this year. I know that this is a big difference from the past years, but sorry folks there is no "I" in team. I think the coaches at greeneville have put together an excellent team that cares nothing about anything else but winning. Their record can speak for that. I know that each are entitled to their own oppinion, however know the facts before making an a_ _ of yourself. This is for you greenevillefan91: What is your problem with the coaching staff at greeneville? I don't believe they hold a different standard for anyone on that team. They expect the same from each member of the team.
  11. Will the Lady Devils get any support from the community on Saturday night? I have yet to see a crowd support them like the boys have had. Everyone talk it up and get people there.
  12. I would prefer the tournament to be at the dome of D.B. I don't like the fact that the floor at South was smaller. I think that Science Hill payed the south A.D. to turn the heat up. They wanted it to be more like a home atmosphere. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  13. What kind of offense and defense does powell play? What are their strenghts and weaknesses?
  14. I think that Stone will have a hard time matching up with Elizabethton's size. Stone can shoot, but I think that rebounds and points in the paint will be the key.
  15. Greeneville has a really good sophmore in Nicole Dickson. Also I believe that two juniors will be even better as seniors next year, Rachel Collins and Devan Mcyntire. Greeneville also has three freshman that will get plenty of playing time next year that are pretty darn good.
  16. PT what is your take on the game tonight?
  17. I believe at tournament time anything is possible. Both teams have to rebound well to win this ball game. Science Hill needs to push the tempo. Greeneville will have to control the tempo. I think that Deans will have a better game than the boone game. Dickson needs to continue to be aggressive and attack. Science Hill will have to mix up their defense to keep the Lady Devils off guard. I look for an exciting game.
  18. I have to agree with you. All you do when you make a statement like that is demoralize your player. I believe that the defender did a pretty good job on Coty. He was quicker than the defender, but the defender played his heart out. If Duncan would have used some of his bench more in the season then that might not have been a problem. You have to just take the defeat and come back next year ready to get better. As far as the recruiting comment that is sad. I don't believe that anyone from DB wants to start that. Everyone knows that with all the rezoning and all the kids that have passed through the ranks at DB there has been some recruiting. We could sit here all day and say who should have been playing at North and South instead of DB. Greeneville played well, but DB just had one more opportunity to win the ball game. The kid that hit the shot and sylvester had carried them the whole game. They stepped up when one was not on. Good luck with Science Hill.
  19. Sorry but Free Throws did decide this game. If Greeneville would have hit their free throws they would have won. No excuses from Billy D. Just stating the facts. Also a school that has 2000 students enrolled should have more athletes to choose from. Just like Science Hill. If you line up DB or Science Hill's five starter next to Greeneville's five starters who would you pick? It is obvious that those two schools have more athletes to choose from. But congratulations to DB and Science Hill. Represent East Tennessee well.
  20. To question Coach Duncan would be crazy on my part. He has over 700 wins as a coach. I do think that they should have put Wiggins on the block in the second half and just pound it in to him. No one on DB's team was stopping him. I think that if Lance Bailey would have played more during the season he would have been able to help them out a lot more than he did. Sometimes I sit there and watch the game and don't understand why Duncan is always barking at one of his players. I guess that is just his style. Greeneville accomplished far more than anyone expected them to. They worked hard and proved that you don't have to have all the talent in the world to compete. All you need is some kids that will buy into a sytem and work their butts off. For the Regional Championship game I have to pick Science Hill. I think if they play the way they did last night then they will get the victory. Just some one complaining about nothing. I think that you do an excellent job at calling the games. I have heard announcers all year long and you by far do the best job. I think you know what you are talking about and you have a way of letting people feel like they are at the game. Keep up the good work. I have enjoyed the interviews with the coaches after the games.
  21. People let me tell you it is tournament time. It has been tournament time for the past two weeks. When you get to the tournament any team can win. It is totally a different season than the regular. So regardless of how well you have played or how much you have dominated in regular season doesn't mean you will coast through the tournaments. Science Hill did not try to press the Greeneville team when they played at the Hill. Everyone wants to mention the Cocke County and Daniel Boone games. You must realize how hard it is for a team, regardless of how good they are, to beat the same team three times in one season. Especially if that team you are playing for the third time is playing good. Greeneville had to do that with Cocke County and Daniel Boone. Every team has some form of weakness and eventually will be pointed out throughout the season. Greeneville's weakness has been the guard play, but their guards have stepped up and made the big plays. I can see Science Hill starting out in a zone trying to make Greeneville's guards make shots. After Greeneville hit's a few shots then Science Hill will have to losen up their zone and defend the guards of Greeneville. I think that Greeneville will play their usual man 2 man defense. They will have to do an excellent job of rebounding in this game to gain the victory. Both teams have a shot at winning at the sub-state level. Will it be hard? Of course, but both teams have played some good competition and will be in their respective game. For those who are hating on Nicole give her a break. She is by far on of the best sophmores in the state. She has hit the big shots time after time. If you don't believe that just call the Farragut coach and ask him. Deans needs to step up and play big on the offensive end tonight. Good luck to both teams. This will be a fun game to watch.
  22. Good game by both schools. I sure wish it was the game being played on Thursday night instead of last night. Wiggins did dominate, but it was not enough to carry his team to a victory. Greeneville needed Woods and Gash to step up but they were unable to hit some big shots. What was the deal with the foul situation? I have not heard the truth, but I know that Epply was charged with 5 fouls and only had 4. Both teams played hard and wanted to win. Good luck to Dobyns Bennett the rest of the tournament. Good luck to all the seniors at Greeneville. Wiggins will go and represent East Tennessee very well at the collegiate level.
  23. Since Greeneville does not press I don't see Science Hill getting as much easy baskets that they did last night against Tennessee High. This game will be a fun one to watch. It will be a battle on the blocks. The two posts for Science Hill play hard and work all the time. I look for this one to come down to the guard play. If the guards for Greeneville can continue to step up they should win. Win or lose both teams will have a hard game on Saturday.
  24. Barb I have not complained all year, so why would I start now? I was just making a few statements. But in the end I gave credit where credit was due. I did not take anything away from this game. Just relax. I mentioned that both fought hard and both deserved to win. I am excited to see the Lady Devils have to face that atmospher with the crowd and being down. It was good to see them overcome that (the student section) and win.
  25. I am going to take Greeneville over D.B. I know that Greeneville got it handed to them at the Hill. However if you base how good a team is off of one game then you would not have a good view of the team that lost. Greeneville has played similar teams that D.B. and S.Hill has played. Greeneville has beeten those teams. Greeneville just beat a very fiesty Vollunteer team that almost beat both S.Hill and D.B. Actually Greeneville beat them by double digits. S. Hill and D.B. combined didn't beat them by double digits. So if you look at that then Greeneville should kill both S. Hill and D.B. But we won't make that assumption. Greeneville will come and play hard. D.B. will also be there and play hard. I looke for D.B. to try and stop Wiggins with different matchups, but I see Wiggins overcoming those and leading the Devils to a victory. Sensabaugh won't be enough to over come gash and wiggins. This will be a close game, but in the end the coaching will lead the Devils to a victory.
