  1. Ed Derrick? You're crazy! I'm not bashing Coach Johnson. He is a great guy who has a long prosperous coaching career ahead of him. I just disagree with him getting COY award. I would've like to have seen someone more established as a coach in the district receive it, like Carr or Mullinicks. Also, just from rumors (and you know how Cheatham Co is w/ rumors), I heard Coach Carr was retiring after this year? Can anyone confirm this? If this is the case, who would take over the program? The middle school coach (forgive me, I do no know his name)? Or would Coach Drew Johnson consider returning to his ol' alma mater???
  2. "Coach J" had a very successful first year as head coach b/c he inherited an already winning-prepped team, and two very talented players in Mendenhall and Richardson. We'll see how good of a coach he is next year.
  3. Congrats to Mandy, she is well deserving. She will be a key player for Coach Brown at TTU. As for all this district mumbo-jumbo talk... all biased opinions. CoachT is only for immature people to run their mouths and try to start fires where there's no matches! WE ARE ONLY IN THE FIRST COUPLE OF GAMES OF THE SEASON! And everyone knows when district games come around the level of intensity and effort is raised, and that's why trying to judge teams in the preseason is just ridiculous. Please, just sit back and watch the season roll out. Then when tourny time gets here, you guys can get on here and start bickering back and forth like elementary school kids.
  4. Well I'm finally glad someone knocked Harpeth off their pedestal. Creek Wood is a well coached team, maybe not with the most talent, but their coaching staff works with what they've got and tonight they overcame all odds against them. WAY 2 GO! Good luck 2nite vs. Sycamore... but I don't think you'll "beat the crap" out 'em.
  5. You're exactly right. That's why they have nothing to lose... oh, and just FYI: Sycamore is a fairly new school (2000). So you can see why there are grounds for building. So you could say that their first 2-4 years as an accredited school would post as to why their record vs. Harpeth is so poor. Now they have an established team foundation. And also, like I said records mean nothing. Any team can be beaten on any given night... especially in the tournaments. What about the Pittsburgh Steelers??? They were 7-5 to end the regular season, and now they are Super Bowl champs... records, stats, and PAST history mean nothing... all that matters is the now.
  6. I guess in "K-town" no one every mentioned to you about being humble. Don't be so sure of yourself "Killa 11"... And you can talk that trash on here... but instead why don't you prove it on the courts during the tournaments... then we can run our mouths.
  7. This is the tournament where anything can happen. I predict Harpeth playing Sycamore for the district title, w/ HHS coming out on top. I don't see any of the teams in 11-AA getting out of the region tourny though. Too much talent in the opposing district w/ power houses McNairy Central and reigning State Champ Chester Co... that's just my opinion.
  8. Did I strike a nerve? I'm sorry... but I just don't see Mendenhall getting the MVP award this year b/c there are too many high-quality seniors playing in this district. And I know exactly what I am talking about: CW-- the girl is a freshman w/dark hair, and I'm sorry I don't know her name. She plays...You mentioned a girl from Cheatham? I must have missed that part... As far as SHS goes, I mentioned Grimes, Ellis, and Covington. If you're gonna quote someone, do it right. Hmm...Mitchell plays a good amount? If you call playing 2-3 minutes a game a "good amount" then ur right... sorry. #1 team in the state??? Way overrated...
  9. You have got to be kidding, right? Mitchell? Obviously you are from harpeth, HHSnumber1fan... and you need to get out more. Mitchell is tall and strong, but what about actually knowing about the game? No consistency what-so-ever as far as scoring goes, maybe in JV. What about the freshmen at Creek Wood? Cheatham? Sycamore? At CW, you've got some talented outside shooters and potential "ball players" if you will, Coach Tom should be very excited about next year... At Cheatham, Carr has a very young team, and next year will be a "rebuilder"... and at Sycamore, what about the transfer from HHS, Ellis -- solid, strong post player with a good shot, and nice moves. Very consistent when she goes in the game. Also, Grimes, little Covington... SHS has a fab-Fresh. team, and a very talented Soph. class as well... should be very interesting for next year. If Derrick would've play his best 5 instead of "seniority," he would have won a lot more games. The season means nothing. One loss or 20... anything can happen! All I can say is that everyone better bring their A-game or there might be some major upsets... As far as the District MVP goes, it will go to a senior. Brison, Ensminger, or Lawson... my vote is for a Ensminger/Lawson CO-MVP.
