  1. I thought Riverside lost their entire starting outfield , starting second base, and first base. I can't believe that they are deep enough to win it this year. I think they will be in the Boro in May, but I'm not sure if the depth is there. The #3 and #4 starting pitching hasn't been proven yet.
  2. Boys you better not over look Summertown, they're always there at the end. That team knows how to win.
  3. Without a doubt this was the best game I've seen in several years. Put away the argument that this was single A ball. I've seen all classifications play this year and it will stand the test. Again the pitching on both sides was amazing. I'm stunned by the maturity that both Gant and Potts exhibited. Mound savvy, pitch command and being the 5th infielder proved that these young men are ready to pitch at the next level. I've read about the umpiring crew at this game , but that's high school umpiring . The pitching talent at that game was at a much higher level than the umpiring crew was prepared for. The two young men, that pitched this game should be proud of themselves. Good luck in their future baseball careers.
  4. Could't agree more, but this was no surprise to me,this was real baseball. With Potts and Gant on the mound hitters better have an approach at the plate .Potts was masterful, and Gant was on with his power fastball. With pitchers at this level, high school hitters are not going to muscle past their errors. Simply put, good piching stops good hitting every time. Its a shame it ended on an error, but then again thats baseball. It was a joy to watch these two young men on the mound!
  5. In life we stress that to be successful one must work hard, practice, and be dedicated to the task at hand. After some success has been achieved , people start accusing you of breaking the rules, amazing!
  6. IMO Wayneboro does not have enough pitching to win their district ,especially against Summertown.
  7. Riverside will be stronger this year than ever, the young freshman talent this year will make an immediate positive impact. This team is strong enough to play across division lines. This coach has had two very good years and has really turned this team around. He is in control of this program, and Riverside's baseball team is the" brighest light" in Riverside' athletic program.
  8. Probably the best right-handed pitcher in the State.
  9. I enjoyed every game i attended at Riverdale, that was a first class, fan friendly atmosphere, and the facilities were great. I WISH THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WAS HELD THERE. Thanks for a wonderfull week of baseball.
  10. 14 strikeouts or otherwise he went through the entire lineup like a circle saw through a 2x4 after the second inning! I saw the gant kid sit at 88 at Pringles Park earlier this year. I saw him shut-out USJ and Lexington this year. I drove from Covington to see him throw against UC at Riverside ,and it was no contest. He is the best pitcher for his age that West Tennessee has produced in many years. He totally dominated UC.
  11. I agree , they will hit the ball. Odle will have this club ready, and this ain't his first rodeo. Lexington's schedule may have been the toughest of any AA team that is in the tourny. I wouldn't want to start the tourny facing that team. They will hit.
  12. I'll promise you Lexington will be swinging the bats. They have been "thru the fires" all year with a very tough schedule, and have been succesful. The pitching at this tournament at class AA , will be no surprise to them. LEXINGTON won it in 2002 , and this is the same coach that built that team. This team really swings the bats.
  13. The Gant kid is the best pitcher for his age that has come out of West Tenn for a long time . I've have seen him three times and he is rock solid. The games that I watched were against top teams Summertown last year, USJ, Southside. His fastball sits 87-89 and touches 91. He has great mound savvy and his mound composure is the best I've seen. Watching him on the mound you wouldn't know if the score was 5-0 , or 1-0 . He keeps the ball town and stays ahead. If he continues to get stronger and gain better command of his off speed , he is a prospect.
  14. I agree , if Riverside will "shore up" a couple defensive spots and with their pitching and now hitting they are as strong as any 1A team around. They are still giving extra outs from their defensive side, and allowing teams to hang around. I like their chances to get back to the "Boro"
  15. He was playing center the last time I saw SH play and he is a good all around player, its a shame he doesn't pitch. He has a great arm and good baseball head. He is a lefty which is always tuff to hit.
  16. scotts hill did loose to PC but they also were missing 5 starters due to basketball scotts hill is coming together, they took 2 from TCA, they have a good coach , and they are playing consistent baseball. Their centerfielder is as complete ballplayer, they have some Lexington tranfers. Their test will be Riverside , I don"t think they will beat gant but if they split with Riverside they could and probably will take 15A.
  17. I saw riverside play Perry County, Lewis County this year and they are not as consistent as last year. The games i saw only 2-3 players hit and they wasn't facing real good pitching. I don't know if they will take both games from Scotts Hill.
  18. I was just wondering what are the rules about ball players black-gardening during a ball game.
  19. What level of support does the baseball team get from Wayne Countians? My guess is not alot. I saw them play last year and about 1/3 of the team had their shirts un-tucked, no hustle at all, Has there been a coaching change since then? I think Collinwood will take Waynesboro
  20. Who are picks in 15A,I'm hearing good things about Scotts Hill
  21. Well, you must have caught that kid from Knoxville when he had the flu or something. Maybe that 88 was a glitch from the gun. Those Jugs guns will jump occasionally if you don't operate em right. Either way, it is very uncommon for a pitcher to lose 10 mph over a start. I'm not saying it has never happened. I just don't agree with you that it is so normal. Anyway, good luck to the Stangs this year!!
  22. I agree that the majority of high school pitchers lose velocity throughout the game. 10 mph may be a bit much though!! As for Clifft, he's a good pitcher, but it's pretty bold to say he is as good as anyone in West TN. The West has a few exceptional pitchers this year. It's all about opinions though!! Good luck this year!
  23. Both teams have played well up to this point. I'll take Mckenzie though. I haven't seen the Rebels all year, but if they can hit at all they should do well. Good luck!
  24. Glad we got that cleared up. Good to hear it. I expect those guys are all doing well. Where did they end up going to school. Any of them still playing. Garrett certainly had good speed!
