  1. You're wrong Dont think so.
  2. I'll take a stab at this one Archie....current HC Moreno...current assistant Baskins....former assistant I am hoping for Gore. He would be my choice above all others that I think would be interested. Gore has done well at Brentwood under Crawford and I think he would bring a lot to the table. It would be good for Metro to have him at McGavock.
  3. FROM 1983-2009 THE BEECH BUCCANEERS HAVE AN OVERALL RECORD OF 32-23 AGAINST SCHOOLS FROM METRO/NASHVILLE...............SORRY WALKER OF THE FIELD BUT THE RECORDS SHOW THAT BEECH HAS OWNED METRO/NASHVILLE OVER THE YEARS Dang howdoitknow you had to go and pull out all that stuff! Oh well Beech has a winning record. I wouldnt quite say they have owned Metro though. Plus against the two schools I pull for they are pretty even. (Overton and Antioch) I just cant stand people especially LILAL knocking Metro or anyone else for that matter for no reason. The guy I am sure is a decent enough guy just needs to stick with Sumner County if he cant ever say anything positive at all. Metro coaches work just as hard as all others. All have good things about their jobs and all have bad things too. Metro coaches and football teams dont get any credit at all and a lot of it has to do with who they have been paired with the last several years (Williamson County). Its hard to beat those guys in the playoffs.
  4. Boski---I am sure that Doris will be kept. I think the paper said that Broome wanted to keep the staff in place. Things should get real interesting for you all. I wonder how much Broome will change things offensively and defensively. The paper said you all had two good running backs. I know you all lost Stone. What else can Broome look forward to talent wise?
  5. I agree fieldwalker. Cheatham County's last 5 head football coaches (Arrington, Tharp, Randolph, Boyd, & Finley) were all guys who served as assistants prior to eventually taking the reigns as the leader of the football program at the school. Halstead was an assistant at Sycamore under Tharp (who was named the head coach at Sycamore after serving as the head coach at Cheatham County) prior to eventually becoming head coach. Loope was an assistant at Harpeth under Winkler prior to becoming head coach. You seem to know a lot about Cheatham howdoitknow. What's the situation at CC and what district and class are they in. I know for a long time CC has been okay but usually hit a road block at David Lipscomb I think. I didnt pay much attention to them this past season. Is the outlook for next year any good?
  6. Anderson started his career at McMurray and then went on to Overton and coached under Nick Coutras. After Coutras retired Anderson and I believe Coach Pot Graves were interim head coaches for a year and then both were forced out due to seniority. Anderson went on to Hillsboro for about four years then went to Antioch for four years. When Mullican left Metro Anderson went back to Overton. He has been there since 1994 and would have probably never left Overton in the first place. Overton is his alma mater and he is a very loyal person. As for all of the other positions it is true that most have been filled by applicants already in Metro. I really think that this goes on in most places. Unfortunately in today's society its not always what you know but more about who you know. Metro and other counties typically hire from within. In Williamson County recently Daniels was hired at Ravenwood from Brentwood, then Rector was promoted and Daniels went back to Brentwood then to Page. Coach M went from Fairview to Centennial, Dyson was promoted at Indy, and Ravenwoods coach was promoted from within. Rutherford is the same. Shad went from Smyrna to basically Blackman, the Blackman coaches went to Smyrna, Oaklands coach came from basically Riverdale, Eaglevilles coach came from Smyrna I think or La Vergne, and Siegels coach was promoted from within. It happens everywhere, not just Metro.
  7. Youre right about Dyson. He has never been a head coach. However he was let go as in assistant in Metro and then hired by Indy, became AD, and is now the HC. I think that is pretty relevant. Other coaches are let go all the time. Coaching is a yearly contract only and Broome was simply told that his services were no longer needed. Big difference in that and in getting fired. Services no longer needed is a nice way to say you are fired. Asked Broome if saying his services were no longer needed made him feel better. Also Dyson will be gone very soon, wait and see. I agree with you completely about Dyson but for Indy's sake I hope we are both wrong. I am sure when someone doesnt want you back its a blow to your ego and all but it is better than being fired. And it is different in my opinion. Most of the time people get fired when they have done something wrong. People get let go of when change is needed for whatever reason. On a seperate note.......I would love to come fishing sometime. I am real familar with the area so I wont get lost like some Riverdale fans!
  8. You are right. I do not care about Metro football, but the facts are the facts. Metro can not get good coaches to apply and when they do they are not the right coach. I know some have applied and been offered the job only to turn it down for obvious reasons. I do not coach and never have or will,I just see the problems in Metro. For the other poster college football is not high school so do not use that example. And as far as Dyson is concerned he has never been a head coach so you have no idea how he will be.
  9. Brown, Pigue and Elrod were all great coaches and great men for the sport. Law is at Portland. Metro could care less if lil al respects them or not. Like I have said numerous times you obviously couldnt hack it in Metro or couldnt not even get in and so now you are bitter. Some of what you say is true, most is nothing more than your normal biased opinions. You try to rip Metro a part yet you are living off the new found glory of the Beech Bucs. Before this year you never even really mentioned them. Before that it was always Gallatin and Hendersonville. What is Beech's all time record against Metro schools I wonder? Sad that you have to live off of one year and one team that you have nothing to do with.
  10. Only in Metro can a coach get fired from one job and then get hired at another. Speaks highly of the football in metro when nobody else is qualified that applied. This happens everywhere and at all levels of sports. Tuberville fired at Auburn ends up at Texas Tech. Kiffin fired by the Raiders ends up basically going to USC. Dyson let go at Glencliff ends up shortly being the HC at Indy.
  11. Its already been announced guys....like kappy said its Broome.
  12. Sad but true. I think CR offers Criminal Justice. As far as the position......how about a guy that I am pretty sure has applied in Metro before, Jay Gore. I heard his name mentioned for Hillsboro but havent heard it mentioned since then. With the athletes that McGavock has I think Gore or a number of other coaches could do well. I dont know if he is interested in this job or not but if he is he would be a good choice.
  13. There are many coaches that are not physical education teachers. Plenty of coaches have degrees in math, the sciences, english, history, and even such things as music, business, and criminal justice.
  14. Spoon I am not anyone's groupie. I do have ties to both Overton and Antioch.
  15. So his son got him the job when Antioch booted him? Regardless, I heard he's telling people he's applying for JPII. McPhail left on his own terms. His son was a rising freshman and was going to Father Ryan. He took a position as OC so he could coach his son. McPhail is a good person and leaving AHS was probably a good decision on his part. It has worked out well for both McPhail and AHS. Take that as you will but McPhail got to see his son play and AHS ended up with Woodward.
  16. Yeah whatever.....spoons of wasted air. Is it possible that you are possibly a possibility? Ha ha. No. Are you a possibility? I dont know if he would be interested but how about Wilson? Runtheball said he might be looking at getting back into metro as a coach. Why not athletic director instead? Runtheball and "13NCS" said he was an administrator so he is obviously licensed for such a role.
  17. I have a name that might please some and might have me butchered by Riverdale faithful at the same time due to his connections with metro.....Elrod. I know he is from metro and some Riverdale fans believe there is already one too many ex-metro employees there but Elrod knows the wing offense. Im not sure if Coach A ever coached with him or not but it could be a good short term hire. I also dont know if Elrod would even be interested.
  18. WHAT?! STOP THE PRESSES!!! Spoon is what?! Fieldwalker just admitted TheSpoon is right? Tell em fieldwalker...Overton sucks! Yeah yeah I know. I will admit when you are right. I like how you stir things up and all. And you have your right to your opinions of basically my whole family's alma mater. Dad, brother, sister, and myself all went to OHS. I do still have strong ties to the bobcats. Tate Thigpen is a friend of mine and is now an assistant there. I think he would make a great head coach, possibly even at East. Dont know if he's interested or not though.
  19. Let's look at 3 points: 1. at 3A. that's a lot different than 5A or 6A 2. Anderson has gone 5 of the last 9 so get you facts straight if you're going to spout them. He also has a whopping 56% winning percentage over that time. 3. Campbell has been to the playoffs to the playoffs every year he's been at HL except 1. Spoon is actually correct about Anderson. Five of the last nine years OHS has been to the playoffs and two others to bowl games.
  20. So it's possible that she's a possibility? Yeah whatever.....spoons of wasted air.
  21. Your statement was "East Lit could be the next Alcoa". That's less obsurd than Scott coming back to Nashville?! Don't think so buddy. COMPARISON.........You dont listen very well. Mine could at least still happen...yours didnt. All I am saying is you arent perfect so dont act as if you are.
  22. Maybe Lost Old Dad will take it. Monae Fletcher could be on the list of possibilities. She was his assistant last year.
  23. Why do you say that? I can't believe there isn't traffic backed up for miles on Gallatin Rd. This is the next Alcoa we're talking about. Yep and SS is going to be the next head coach at Hillsboro. Give it a rest. East has great athletes and in a lower classification they could be similar to Alcoa or Fulton for that reason only. I didnt say that East would win multiple state championships. I simply made a comparison of potential. You stated SS would be the next head coach. No comparison and simply did not happen.
  24. Lost I do enjoy reading your posts and most are valid. I think that you and maybe even the rest of Rutherford County have very high standards. Thats not a bad thing at all and Im not knocking you for it. I am just disagreeing with the fact that Adeylott is a good coach and last year making it to the semifinals was a big accomplishment for the team as a whole. Rankin and Adeylott are two different coaches with different styles. Both are successful. Before Rankin's time what did Riverdale do? Not much. Rankin set the standard very high. Since then Smyrna and Oakland have won championships in Rutherford County. Blackman had a very good year last year. Really the only schools that have not faired well are Siegel and La Vergne. I dont know the reasons for Riverdale's lack of championships recently. Maybe Adeylott could do things better, but in the same thought he did manage to get his team to the semifinals last year. Is that not a success? I dont know where his heart is? But I am sure that just like any good coach he does his best with what he knows and has to work with. Coach A was one of about ten coaches state wide that was honored as the Titans coach of the week. Is that not a success? Just give the man a little credit, he deserves it as does the team. Im glad we can at least agree on warhawks. Teams need a fan or two like him.
