  1. I think one thing that needs to happen at JCM is that the whole team has got to play together, two guys can not do it all. One question we had was why doesn't #27 run the ball? Did he run the ball more before he got hurt? As I said on another thread, I was unimpressed by the way JCM entered the stadium and warmed up. There seemed to be little purpose to the warm-ups beside intimidation of the other team. They did not come to take care of business. I also stand by what I said earlier on the same thread about NS being skilled, determined, and disciplined, while JCM relies on the raw talent that apparently still has to be developed. Of course I do not know anything about how JCM practices, but NS's O line dominated and our D line was impressive. I believe we were in better condition - we are being able to beat teams in the 4th quarter and that says a lot about Coach Massey - he believes in conditioning. I fear YANKER that you have opened up a can of worms here and that this might turn into coach bashing. Everyone needs to represent with class. Good luck to JCM...hopefully we can both make the playoffs.
  2. Thanks Yanker....Believe it or not...while I was celebrating on the field withsome of the boys I thought of your dad and hoped he made it through the game ok. Good luck to JCM the rest of the way and I h ope we both make it into the playoffs.
  3. They came my son's soph. year I believe and so this is their 3rd year. The 1st year they were hired on into the summer and so Massey and Jelks still tried to handle most of the duties because they did not know these new coaches very well. It has become apparant that these are excellent coaches and Massey has allowed them to show their potential. Last year Massey was def. coordinator and Coach Mc was offensive - while Vowel did def. backs and sp. teams I believe. Coach Mc is in the press box on Fridays relaying plays into Coach Clark while Massey and Vowel are on the field, along with Joey Williams and Vincent Hunt who are allso working with the boys. These coaches have earned the respect of the players. The coaching staff is doing a great job in preparing the boys and giving them the confidence they need to win big ballgames.
  4. It was a great game. I may be mistaken on some of my facts because I do not live in the JEA coverage zone and have had the priviledge of seeing the game again. I know JCM fans can gripe about a play or two...that's football. Believe me, if NS had lost there would be talk of the no call on the clear offensive interference play that led to the JCM touchdown and about the late hit by #27. As I said earlier, there were missed calls for both sides and it really equals out. NS now has the big win that they needed to regain respect that has been lost over the past few years. I think Coach Masey is doing his best coaching this year by allowing his asst. coaches to handle the offense and defense, freeing himself up to coordinate and lead the team as a whole. We have two of the best asst. coaches around and Massey is utilizing them to improve the program. We also have two great men who are volunteering their time to help coach. NS has been left with low numbers in the coaching staff in football and this improvement in the staff has helped in this turnaround. Yes, Coaches MaC and Vowel have been there for 3 years, but this is the first year thast Massey has allowed them to run the offense and defense. All of our coaches are doing a fanstastic job. I haven't seen Brighton this year, but I know the JCM fans have? Does NS match up well against Brighton and what do we have to do to win? We play Memphis East next week in Memphis and then we have Brighton at Brighton. We haven't been at .500 in sooooo long that I hope the boys can handle it well. They are getting a taste of what winning is like. I believe that if we play them like we played JCM we will be in good shape, but then you never know. So I would like to hear from some who have seen both teams.
  5. Let me take the liberty of giving you my account of the game...and yes, it is biased. I got to the field about 6:00 to watch warm-ups. NS special teams warm up first. NS finished their whole ST warm-ups before JCM ever arrived. JCM refused to use the visitors locker room. That is why you saw them on the field during halftime. Knowing it was homeconing and that halftime was going to be longer, I question this decision by the coaches. It seemed to me that JCM's warm-up drills were all about intimidating the other team ahnd little about actually warming up and playing the game. Their warm-ups were more about hollering loud and looking cocky instead of getting down to business. Coach Massey told our boys to expect this - for them not to even look at the JCM players so the JCM players would think we are scared. Being very close to someone working the chains I can say that the coaching staff for JCM did not question the catch or the loss of down in the 4th quarter. But yes, the officals called the Offensive pass interference play against JCM as a loss of down. But since it happened on a third down anyway, and would have declined the penalty anyway and the outcome would have change very little. As I said earlier, NS is now a very confident, determined, and disciplined team. We can beat you with the run, the pass, or by blocking your kick on special teams. No one can afford to look past us any longer.
  6. It must just be you because we did not score on the long catch drive. But JCM did score on a drive where offensive pass interference should have been called, plus ther were about 3 facemasks that should have been called against JCM and wern't. There were calls on both sides of the ball that were questionable, but they made no di9fference in the outcome of the game. Sorry folks, JCM got outplayed and that's that.
  7. Not a good time for my internet to be acting up!!!! VG, if your question is " Did you go in at halftime and let the team smoke on what's in your pipe?" The answer is no. My boy had #27 and #5 blitzing on him all night. Yes, sometimes they got the best of him, but he handled the most of the time. As you can see from the crowd on the NS side, even the kids are feeling it now. It's a great time to be an INDIAN. I will say that I thought there were some questionable calls on both sides, so they probably equalled out. The officials did not lose this game for JCM, so please let NS enjoy their win. Humboldt fans said they got beat by an inferior team and fell to the "homecoming curse" well, this was our homecoming and there is no curse. North Side is no longer an inferior program and people can not afford to look past us. GO INDIANS!!!!! P.S. YANKER....I AM THE 58INDIANS22!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Don't know what you're referring to, but softball hasn't been that good the past few years so apparently if there are some they are not putting us in position to win region titles like Munford's are.
  9. My bad, you are correct. Make that round 2 Of course I do. Our back had more yardage than Donald did in last weeks game. He's young, but quick. He is also small and hard to see behing the O Line.
  10. North Side has nothing to lose and everything to gain by winning this game. This will be a big "feather in our headress" toward bringing the program back to its days of glory. On the other hand, it's just the opposite with JCM. A loss for them takes them out of the running of region champ and puts them at the bottom of the region with "the rest of us", hoping to make it into the playoffs - a position JCM hasn't been in in a while. A win for JCM will give them at least a 3rd place finish in the playoffs, probably. Is that why the HC fan base is siding with JCM? Do they think JCM will be a easy 1st round playoff opponent? You would rather play someone on the decline that someone moving up.
  11. Sounds like JCM might have gotten transfers in the past week if the YANKER can be this confident about the JCM offense? Does he know something we don't?
  12. Be more concerned about the HC game than you are about ours...that's fine with me. Fall into the Humboldt trap, and then whine about getting beat by an inferior team, that's fine too. A wins a win...and the INDIANS will get a big one Friday nite.
  13. Ditto that for the North Side game, but we all have to deal with it. Has TSSAA checked them that you are sure of? I remember someone from Munford questioning whether they were legal on an earlier post (and I'm not trying to start something hear), but I never heard if there was a ruling by TSSAA or not.
  14. First, let me state that my son does not wear wrist bands, but he has a place on his elbow that he has to get taped every game because it bleeds. I can see where a regular wristband would help protect this area somewhat. I do not see the purpose at all for the thin bands, but I am sure some do. I am like many others and do not see that it is such a big deal to wear one on the elbow. Maybe someone can get a finger caught in them, but there are many other parts of the uniform that fingers can get caught in as well and we don't ban them.
  15. Not smokin nuttin....just speakin the truth. The cougars will be caged come Friday night....how come the YANKER is the only who can have some fun on this site? And what is a YANKER anyway??? Does anybody know???? Maybe he was smokin something when he came up with that name??? I think the YANKER and Vol Gen are a little concerned about this Friday, and they have reason to be.
  16. The smoke signals are rising over north Jackson and the sound of the war drums can be heard. The seniors are meeting tonight to go over the game and to plan their attack. What the cougars achieve, they do by instinct. What the Indians achieve, they do by skill, discipline, and determination. We are the fiercest of all warriors...and we will prevail. GO INDIANS !!!!!!!!!
  17. This should be a great game, plus one of the oldest rivalries being played Friday night, and I had to go and dig this thread off of page 2. What's going on??? Don't let some sour puss who wants to degrade the coach take away from the kids and the game on the field. Where's Volunteer General???? Yanker is posting but not many others. Let's hear it !!!! Go INDIANS !!!!!!
  18. Oh no, the Indians are siding with the cougars....what next???? The YANKER agreeing with the Prophet???? OOps...that has happened to!!!! Is the end near????
  19. If you know anything about football in this area then you should know that there has not been a program that has been as down as North Side in the past few years. Is that the coaches fault????? Maybe, Maybe not. As the Volunteer General and I have already discussed on another post, much of the decline came with the rezoning of students as Liberty opened. It has been tough for our program to rebuild from this for we took a BIG hit. There are many factors that play into the decline of a team, not just the coach. North Side has improved and has steadily improved over the past few years, even though the win-loss record may not show this. But at no time do I recall this forum being used to bash the coach or to call for his firing...that is not the purpose of this site. If you want to pursue that adgenda, then maybe you should start your own web site for that purpose. I want people who use this site but maybe aren't familar with the NS program to think we have class and I'm sure that the many regular JCM supporters who use this forum feel the same. You are not just talking to a few...your words could reach thousands across the state. Represent your program with class.
  20. I believe this game will come down to who brings their A game...both of these teams have weaknesses that can easily be exploited. North Side definitely needs the passing game to work to open up the run. But as we saw in Humboldt, if this happens North Side can be successful. North Side needs to control the line of scrimmage and have strong linemen who are capable of this. I haven't seen JCM this year, so I don't know what it will take for them to win, but I'm sure Yanker will let me know soon.
  21. High school football coaching is not like the college level or pro level....coaches have to teach first and coach second. They get paid for teaching and their salary is supplemented for coaching. I am saying that to say this, ousting a coach from a coaching position may prove harmful to the program in that they do not have to give up their teaching position. If an ousted coach decides to continue teaching at the school, there may not be another open teaching position in which to hire a new coach. This causes the administration to have to find someone within the school to take over the coaching position and you are left with someone not as qualified as the person you let go. This happens at many schools when needing to hire assistant coaches or coaches for minor sports. Now, during the middle of a season and not even halfway through a semester is not the time when administratrors are able to do anything. But, yes, you do have the right to your opinion. But also remember, some athletes look on these sites as well and what you're doing may not be best for them or the program.
  22. This is not the time to be calling for a coach's ousting...especially since JCM is still in the mix for the region winner. There is nothing administrators can do at this time of year anyway...these coaches are also teachers and have classroom responsibilities. Let the season play out and then have your say, I just don't think this is the proper time or place for that.
  23. We need this win plus a win with Brighton to make it in the playoffs since we fumbled ourselves out of the Hardin County game. I'm not counting on a win against HC, but it would be nice as well. Our team is coming together and looking more like the team we thought we would have this year. Since my kid is a senior, this game is VERY IMPORTANT in our house. Good luck to both teams and may this be an injury free game, but may the INDIANS prevail.
  24. Yanker, VG, and other JCM fans... We beat Humboldt by being patient. Humboldt tried to quick snap us the first half, much of the time their line never came set or they jumped off sides in the backfield, but it was never called. What it did do was tire their line instead of ours. Massey does have us in good condition. Humboldt did not have much of a passing game and tried to beat us using Wardlow and Donald - which are two extremely good players. But NS had a total team effort. Our OL and DL controled the line of scrimmage all night. The yardage they got was totally on their own - out linebackers were in their backfield much of the time. If you noticed the stats in the paper we beat Humboldt on almost every offensive stat - they beat us in punting and we did have 1 turnover. If our young runningback has a good game and can hold onto the ball as he did at Humboldt, then this will be an excellent game. North Side has gained a lot of confidence lately, but JCM has had our # the past few years. Looking forward to an excellent time at the Reservation this Friday nite...Hope to see u there.
