  1. This is probably an unknown fact related to the subect. Marty Sisco had the reputation while teaching as being a great history teacher that made history come alive in the classroom. Not often is one a great coach and a great teacher that could have handled both not only effectively but superbly. With his knowledge of history, it will be valuable on Saturday in the state championship game. Check out this week's article about "Papa" Sisco in the UC Daily Messenger. UC's secret weapon. Two great Sisco coaches on the same bench. Potential to be a great close game. UC in overtime, baby!
  2. First of all, hats off to Wayne County for a valiant effort. The technical foul just before half possibly was the turning point of the game only it backfired fron the normal. Obviously there was some great coaching in the dressing room at half time by the Sisco kid and his father for the troops were called in for the 2nd half. UC has several weapons and you can't control all of them at once. UC's quickness stamina, and physical fitness definitely had an effect in the 2nd half and throughout the game from the steals that they had and Wayne Co's turnovers. "Papa" Sisco as the UC Messenger called him passing on his expertise and experiecnce to the "Sisco kid" makes for a great act and one hard to beat. I wonder how many times Shane Sisco sat on the bench in Murfreesboro with his father being the head coach. Congratulations UC Tornadoes from an OC Rebel. BHHVols, I' ll see you tomorrow at the 'boro and looking forward to our Lunch. Won't it be weird to be bringing your father to his first game probably since who knows when, mabye in 40 years? Man, what a feeling. Think I will have to explain to him how to act at a state championship?
  3. I understand there is a floor plan on display at OCCHS somewhere in the present building. In talking to Mr. Moss and Mr. Buckelew, there are bleachers on two sides with two levels much like now. The top level does load however separately from an enclosed stair well somethng like Dyersburg, I think. It will seat according to the plan about 1800 minimum. (Ripley gym, we figured up, seats 2100). There is going to be ample space between court out of bounds line and first row of bleachers for fans to walk on both sides and ample space behind players sitting on bench and scoretable for fans to walk. So no more of this having to walk in front of the "bench". Also, OCCHS is due to get the district tournament in 2010. How long has it been since we hosted a district tournament? You cannot enter the gym however from that top classroom level. Designed probably for security reasons and use so as to be able to shut off from academic areas. THere will also be a PE type gym where the present one is standing. Visitor entry to school wil be from front with student entry and sports entry from back of school. Parking lot to be used for all sports events and will obviously be close to basketball, baseball, softball, and football fields. In academic area. there will be an elevator for handicapped use with students reaching top classroom level via stairways separate from gym.
  4. I thought the classification was 0 - 499, 500 - 999, and 1000 plus for basketball? Somebody reading this should know for sure and respond with correct info.
  5. I like the "Red Zone" as a possible name for the pep club. as well. I am sitting here trying to think of a name for the new gym to go with it, but can't put anything together. You students brainstorm and keep thinking. That is what we have tried to educate you to do - think, solve problems, and come up with good answers. We will try to support you as long as you are doing what's best for your and our school and the community. Keep it clean and enjoy your walk towards graduation. Make a positive statement for your class. Go OC! What about the "End Zone" to go with the "Red Zone" , or "The Bucket", or "The Cellar"? Just trying to give you ideas and spur your thoughts as I did think of some ideas after all.
  6. Thanks for the reply. I know who you are. I think it is not only a privilege, but a responsibility for every school to have an active pep club. The new gym should have a known, respected, and remembered name by all and to all. I like the idea of a name for the pep club as well. They are both important just as the school's mascot. Just keep the pep club comments clean as we are proud alumni of OC and want our school to be honored by all who grace the halls and bleachers. both in the old school and the new school.
  7. Let's keep it the ways it is! No shot clock. High school should be different that the pro's in some ways. They are not adults according to age, though some act more grown up that we adults sometimes.
  8. I'm thinking as well - UC and Humboldt meet again. UC in semifinal by 15 and Humbodlt in semifinal by 10 to meet for the 5th ( ? ) time this year in finals on Saturday at the 'boro. Isn't it great that no division dominates all the time, that each division and each level gets to brag nicely from time to time about who's the best. Otherwise what what we have to say when we look at this screen?
  9. Since joinng this fantastic web site, I have absolutely laughed myself almost to death, almost cried from laughing so hard, and been humored out of this world. I have bugged a certain person at my school, probably too much and I apologize to her for that, with all the humor that I have read and realayed to her. I have sat here tonight and laughed till I cried from reading the info on the topic about Single A classification and complaints, etc. I tried to respond but that thread or whatever it is called was locked. So I started this and welcome responses. I love all the comments that I read( well most of them) and look forward to the times that I can sit here and be amused and humored. Isn't technology great where we can talk to each other and not have to look at each other. I do admit, I would like to know more info on the people that type these comments--where you are from, your hobbies, your school of support, etc. Maybe, I am identifyinjg too much about myself on my site. Keep the comments coming, keep them clean, and let's continue having good clean fun supporting our team. GO OC Rebels and UT sports. Oh, yes, TSSAA does a pretty good job trying to set classifications fairly. I don' always agree with them and have voiced complaints in a respectful way. No body is going to be pleased all the time. That is called democracy. Keep me laughing as I travel to the 'boro Saturday to support UC even though I am a yelling OC Rebel alumni.
  10. Your last sentence has some good thought to it and deserves some merit for pondering. For that reason, the "rebel train" from "Central Station" has a nice whistle to it.
  11. I apologize for the error in the name that I stated. It is my older age that creeps up on me trying to remember what I hear. I definitely like the "rebel train" at "Central Station" now that I have had time to comprehend its thought. Has a nice toot toot to it. (Pardon the pun.) Who are you that corrected me for I would like to know who you are? Are you the one that I talked to about it or are you someone else that is aware of the names and are trying to promote this concept as well? Who has suggested the "Palace" because it might not be as appropriate for a group of Rebels?
  12. Weddle played according to TSSSAA stats 17 minutes with the other 4 starters playing 17, 13, 17, 18 minutes. Pretty impressive to get 77 points when all starters played less than 2/3 of game . With Humboldt's win, it looks like Humboldt and UC meeting for 5th time this year in finals. UC knowns how to have several players get points when needed. OC Rebel fan saying go UC
  13. "The Palace" in Troy sounds somewhat okay. However, I heard another possibility that I though was worth considering. This was not an original idea of mine. THis idea was proposed by a OC student with initials of D.H. and I think should be considered. He is promoting the idea of the pep club known as the Central "train" and along with that the new gym being known as the Central "station". This student is a leader at OC and was very active in the pep club activities during the year and at tournaments. Let's at least consider his idea as one that has some merit.
  14. I am an UTM alumni. I always liked the "Pacers".
  15. Keep the colors the same; keep the mascot name the same. Remember our country's founding fathers were rebels, too. My question: Will the gym still be the "Pit", "Pit 2", "More Pit", " Deeper Pit", "Deep Fry Pit" or what?
  16. I agree. OC should be as strong or stronger than last year. They should be in the thick of things and make it to state. OC played top 2 AA teams in state during tournament play this year better than any other team in state tournament losing to JNS in Regionals and to Hillcrest in sub-state.
  17. Thanks 10W40. I had predicted the other way by 5 points. At least it was a fairly close game. Thaks for giving updates.
  18. I don't have access to station carrying game on tv and don't live close enough to radio station to hear it. Somebody keep me posted on Hillcrest vs. JNS.
  19. Flippins' Hllbilly Barn in Obion County makes the best fried apple and peach pies. Makes me hungry just thinking about them.
  20. We all, from time to time, like to hear about an underdog making it to the big time. We must congratulate Cloudland for peaking at the right time. Our boy's team seemed to be doing simialr things at the end of the season, but did not make it out of the region. We all like to hear of a darkhourse as long as they don't win against our team or that darkhorse is our team and we keep surpurising other teams and winning. It makes for a lot of good talk at the state tournament for a team like CLoudland to be there and be a cinderella team. However I pick UC to win by 15 unless Weddle can get 30, then UC wins by 25. I just hope it will be a good game because state tournament games should be that way.
  21. Hey, bhhvols. 'Bout time you chimed in. I can't stop laughing while using this toy. I watch tv while I type. By the way check your e-mail. I switch to that from this and back to this too much. Also, more sound off next week about UC being in the state tournamnet and you get to ruffle feathers 'cause you got your old dog in the hunt.
  22. Are you a McMinn Central fan? Is that why you made the prediction that you stated? You must be loaded for several years to come. OC loses 2 good seniors this year with 1 returning senior to be and a host of good sophomores coming up to juniors . We have a good group of sophomores to be with some real good incoming freshmen. OC is fed by 4 feeder schools. One of those went undefeated and won the West Tn. Sectional winning about 20 games and no losses. They beat the Jackson and MEmphis schools that moved through in the junior high tournament. So maybe OC and McMinn Central will meet next year. Looking forward to it.
  23. Is that picture supposed to make me sick? I believe we have won a national championship since SC. Right? Right. You can truly have him.
  24. We are and we will just like you would if east tn was in the finals. What's with the SC picture. Are you a gamecock transplanted to our beautiful state. Do we have something in common. If you are formerly from SC, then I bet UT regroups and goes further in NCAA than does SC, that is if SC gets in.
  25. It seems that I and others probably saw the best tournament games here in West Tn at our district, regional, and substate and did not have to go to the 'boro although it would have been a bigger honor for any team to be up there this week.
