  1. great, you all sound like white co now, wait til our middle schoolers get there.... problem is, they never stick around.... ya'll been sayin' the same thing in football.... middle school success comes far short of prediciting future outcomes...
  2. should be a good one, no doubt... my question is when do the transfers for smyrna become eligible? their year should be close to being up... would love to see them eligible for the game with mj, if they clear the central hurdle...
  3. just wondering how many 'true' freshmen teams there are in 7aaa... seems like most schools have resorted to playing more and more freshmen on the varsity and playing other freshmen teams with jv squads... what's up with that anyway?
  4. couldn't happen to a nicer kid... wish i coulda been there... u go gurl...
  5. it's not like she hasn't been seen... i usually trust the scouts...
  6. also makes that lebanon-warren game interesting too-- a lebanon win & white co win sends lebanon as the 3rd seed instead of the 4th by virtue of a sweep of rdale--
  7. Lebanon is playing well, but i've not gotten to see cc... at Lebanon so i'll say blue devils on a late 3... good luck to both....
  8. i'm not so sure of a sweep for 7aaa, but it is a good possibilty... my reason for thinking that it won't happen is that the 8aaa teams do get to host two of the games... if this was being done at a traditional neutral site i would increase the odds of a sweep... (why did they change the format by the way?) however, the odds get an equally offsetting push towards a sweep with Blackman and Lebanon pulling upsets in the district tourny allowing them more favorable opponents in the region... consequently, 8aaa's top two teams (while at home) are facing the two 7aaa teams that were actually stronger during the season... i don't feel a sweep coming on, but it wouldn't surprise me...
  9. do we have days and times yet? i've got second shift next week and will have to take my radio to work to keep up... any help would be appreciated...
  10. interesting... especially since i just recently deduced who you are before it was confirmed here... we've never met, yet you know me?... as far as the support comment i assume that was sarcasm... i have no reason to support or antagonize anyone here for that matter... just expressing my views... sorry if it touched a nerve... but then, you did ask...
  11. wc pioneers i think you're one of the few not living in a fantasy world... your statements are consistent with info i've gotten from people close with the program... and i commend you for removing the rose colored glasses and giving an honest opinion of the state of the wchs... however i must admit that you sound much closer than a financial supporter... and i am aware of the wcms team and thank you for not referring to that tourny as a state tourny as it is so often falsely called... as far as eagle, i don't have probs with family as long as it is handled right... i've heard both sides and don't have enough to feel strongly one way or the other... i did notice the kid didn't play much sat, so he must not show too much favoritism or that wouldn't have been the case... (by the way eagle take exemptions with the irs, take exception to criticism)... as far as sat night, i saw enough coaching decisions that were made that shouldn't have been and others that should have been but weren't to question the ability of turner whatever the talent level is or isn't... then again, that could be chalked up to inexperience...
  12. depending on the seedings, i think that it is very possible that two of those four won't make it to region... apparently, i don't have the power to poll... so someone who can... start one listing the other four and ask who has the best underdog chance to win it....
  13. to be frank, i think the negative posts have slowed due to the same things being repeated over and over again as well as the lack of interest in an 0-13 district team... but since you brought it up--- yes i have positive things to say and have said them, if the kids read here, then they know that so then they don't need to hear it again... as for the crowds, they've always been great, even in the worst of seasons... however, if you think the things being said in the stands are more positive than negative, you a sadly mistaken (and i'm not talking about disgruntled parents or wannabe coaches-- the average observant objective fan's view)... and i would think that of all people you get to hear it... i do look deeper and see very little to be excited about for the future... i sincerely hope that i am completely wrong and will be pleasantly surprised... white co has been screaming young talent coming for years yet, as other schools have graduated their players, white still hasn't gotten any better... i'm afraid i see warren in the same boat in the next few years... i attended the elementary tourney to see coworkers kids play (the green and red teams)... i was not impressed with the talent coming from the middle school grades and in fact was disappointed with the level of fundamental skills some of the kids possessed (though not necessarily with those two teams)... i have no dog in yall's hunt, i just call it like i see it... as for the positives, i can compare this year's team to the football teams of the last couple of years... despite being outmanned and outplayed and outsized, these kids have heart and refuse to give up, they're learning life skills that will take them further than winning any game could ever give them... as a result, even though they have put a lot into their experiences with this team, they will take away much more than they have put in... now, i didn't intend to suggest that you had muzzled the opinions on the board... i just remember how you had asked us to think of the impact on the guys... i was just trying to take that into consideration and remind others of that... you said they don't need to hear that they are not good... i think that had they been in another district, they would have enjoyed more success than they have had (i realize at 0-13 that's not saying much)... perhaps if more schools come on line in the boro, redistricting could put the pioneers playing a district schedule closer to that of the football team... that alone could spell success for the future... you yourself have recognized the talent level of sophs throughout district 7aaa and should realize the daunting task set before the underclassmen...
  14. Riverdale if white is without sunday; white if she plays...
  15. that's kinda lame to only offer those four choices... some of the other four have beaten those teams during the season... at least give them a shot...
  16. they've already beat dekalb and coffee right? or at least one of them i thought... as for my assessment, i think criticism of the team right now would only do harm... i'm going to continue to support the players and express my opinions later (though they won't really change from ones posted on earlier threads-- ya'll might remember we decided to go positive remarks to avoid adversely affecting the team at the request of eagle79 and some others)... everyone support the guys at least through senior night tomorrow...
  17. based on all this, i think we can safely deduce what happened to the first thread... afraid this one's headed in the same direction...
  18. careful stars, someone might confuse you with blaze fans...
  19. i have heard similar compliments concerning mrs turner as well... i don't think i would want to coach with my spouse though... he might feel differently... as far as next year, i don't see much improvement... at the risk of sounding like a white co fan, the middle school crop looks decent (though not one of the best ever)... i have heard of some other athletes in other sports that might be interested in giving hoops another shot... could get some help that way... guess only time will tell...
  20. i would have to go with reed as the best player in the district... but if you look at the mvp as being the most important to their team i'd have a hard time choosing between sunday and pelham... they both mean a lot to their teams and neither would enjoy the success they've had this year without them... i also hate to think how bad Lebanon would be without kirkland... i guess i have a different view of mvp than most...
  21. they'd better... they need a win bad right now... another loss could all but guarantee they'll open with Blackman in the tournament-- the region dream could be fading....
  22. just for fun... no one get too serious on this ok? if the season ended today this is what the pairings would look like.... how do you see it going.... note that Blackman and Oakland are tied with Blackman holding the tie breaker for now... warren and Riverdale are tied and have split so there'd be a coin toss.... pick it either way... also note that i believe it will be held at White Co.. 1 white vs 8 siegal 4 Oakland vs 5 warren/Riverdale 2 Cookeville vs 7 Lebanon 3 Blackman vs 6 warren/Riverdale who'd be packin it in for the season? who's headed to region at mtsu? also, how healthy are the teams as they head towards the stretch? that could play a very important role....
  23. whew, sounds like the recent close games both had been involved in caused opposite reactions in the teams... white sounds like the close call against Riverdale woke them up... warren's disappointing loss on the buzzer beater against Riverdale seems to have totally deflated them... result= blow out... white will continue to roll, though an early departure in the district would not suprise me (it won't happen in the first round though)... they should be region bound and with 8aaa being down, they should have as good a shot at getting to the finals as anyone... warren had better regroup if their dreams of a region berth are to come to fruition... this team needs a win bad to stay in the hunt for a favorable district seeding... good luck to both teams...
  24. i go back to what i said on the 2nd page of this thread... not my original line, got it from another coach... the best coaches are the ones who teach the game... if you're not teaching, you're not coaching... if i have correctly deduced hardball's intent, the coach in question has a hard time with this... fortunately for this coach, some good players have helped to cover the coach's inadequacies to those with an untrained eye... hardball is able to see beyond the smoke and mirrors and politics to come to a realization...
