  1. Humboldt wins this one by 16...Charles is still Questionable for the game I believe. UC went 4 of 38 from behind the arc last time we played each other. DOUBT that happens again, just simply because I'm sure this team has matured throughout the year and whenever they realize that they aren't hitting from behind the arc, the best way to get started is to drive and go to the foul line. I hope Humboldt wins bigger than 16 in this one, but I don't see it happening.
  2. red, you also forgot that Buckner will be gone too. That's another reason why we may not see Legend on here again. lol /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  3. All I'm going to say is that it is time to change the subject. Myself and red know what's going on. Nothing for anyone to worry about. What was the final for Humboldt and South Fulton tonight? I wasn't able to make it to the game tonight. We need to create another name for this thread or start another one, lol, because there is so much under this Lake Co @ Humboldt topic.
  4. Quit using the excuse of them being tired and without their legs. These boys are 15-18 years old. You act as if they are 30-40 years old and are about to retire in the NBA. These boys have been running sprints ever since the end of last season. I highly doubt that their legs are gone. They were done with the tournament on the 30th. That gives them Dec. 31st, Jan, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (day) to rest and practice. These boys have played basketball nearly every day of their lives. That whole excuse is nonsense. As for the game, I have never been a fan of Quan Campbell in basketball. Football, yes but not basketball. Joseph Gordon is our best point guard. Quan can dribble and drive, but whenever he gets in a crowd of defenders he picks up the ball and throws it away. I believe he had 8-10 of those 18 turnovers Humboldt had. His shot is not great either. Joseph Gordon IMO is the best ball handler Humboldt has and can break any press by himself. Raphael Tyler was the best player on the floor for Lake Co. He is very quick with the ball. Avery is also a very good player, but never saw him do much because he was mostly sitting under the basket. I never saw him get out from under the basket. To be honest, he NEVER came out of the game. Humboldt stayed in the Full Court press too long. After Lake Co. made 3 shots off of the 3 on 1 matchup, we should've pulled out of it and went to the half court trap or zone. Humboldt is the best team in the district and I still believe we are 10 points better than Lake Co. There's no point in arguing about this anymore and I'm not planning on it either. I've seen us play before and I know that wasn't our best game. Bigster said that this was one of the top 4 best games Lake Co. has played. This might have been the 2nd worst game Humboldt has played this year. 27 days until the rematch. See you there.
  5. Were you not watching Tevin drive right down the lane past 4 defenders and lay it up 3 times in a row?? I don't believe those were put backs. You say that IF Patrick would've hit those shots...well what IF Rashad would've hit his shots? Can't play the IF game here. Just have to wait for the next game. I don't plan on Humboldt pressing with the full court press and leaving Dunbar back to guard 3 Lake Co. players. Midgits could even score on a 3 on 1 break away.
  6. I'm just going to go ahead and say that I've not said that our height is going to win this game. It will help though, especially on the offensive end to get offensive rebounds and put backs. Humboldt has won their games because of defense/forcing turnovers and fast break points. Whenever we have been slowed down, we would work the ball around the perimeter and look for the open shot, which is usually a 3 or a drive. Humboldt will cause mismatches because of size and athleticism, and I expect to have 2 of our big men in every play of the game. About EJ, yes he could leap, but basically all he could do was get rebounds and put backs. He didn't have near the BASKETBALL athleticism as Tevin, Charles, and even Dunbar have though. Charles and Tevin can both handle the ball, shoot the outside shot, and both are more mobile than EJ was too. EJ was a great basketball player and played with tremendous effort and heart and those are showing up on the football field down in Ole Miss.
  7. Did a little research on those teams Lake Co. played. Their "in state strength" is not that high for any of the teams from Kentucky and Illinois. The better of the teams were Marion and St. Mary's, whom you beat in the last 2 games. 2 of the teams combine for 4 wins though. You still went undefeated in a tournament away from home though, so I'm not doubting/downing Lake Co. Just not convinced that those teams were GrEaT.
  8. There's a difference between football quick and basketball quick. Quan Campbell for Humboldt is the starting running back for the football team and he is quicker on the field than on the court in my opinion. Big difference between running with a ball and running plus dribbling a ball.
  9. Idk about BeTtEr...but we could play with UC teams from the past...maybe get a win or 2...but Idk about being the better team. Bigster I might have misunderstood lakecountyfan, but I still think that we are 10+ points better. Yes, I agree that you never know what's going to happen in a game, which I've read your posts on here about how Lake Co. has had some rough nights missing layups and winning close games that shouldn't even be anywhere to a close win. Both teams will be ready for this game, especially since it is has been hyped up even more since it has been put off for 2 weeks. 10. Would you please tell me what you see whenever you see Humboldt play since you are telling us Humboldt fans that our own team is not good, whom by the way has been beating their opponents by an average of 35 points/night?? Did it ever cross your mind that Humboldt will have something for Lake Co. for those deep 3's they like to shoot?? Yes, Russell can see over the trap, but I have seen him play and his handles are not great. They are sufficient, but not with Humboldt's guards who are looking for the steal every time down the floor. I am really hoping for a close and good game, but I do not see it happening Saturday night.
  11. With the first 2 lines I have bolded, you have proven our point of how deep we are. Our "fab 2" as you call them have not had to drop 20+ points on anyone, which Tevin had 20 points the other night against Milan, and I'm sure he's had 20 earlier in the year. To correct you on the 3 big bodies, there's actually 4 /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> The gym is going to be rocking though if Lake Co. comes into the gym undefeated also. If not, the gym will still be packed, especially since the game is on a Saturday!
  12. All right, back to the topic. Lake Co. @ Humboldt, Saturday Jan. 3rd. Will the long break effect any team? Humboldt has been on a hot streak and we hope to continue it into this Saturday. Lake Co. has been playing off in tournaments over the break, so they should still be on their game. I'm 100% sure that Coach B. has been keeping our boys at the gym every day and running scrimmages against each other to make sure they keep the game mentallity. I'm still going with Humboldt in this one. Humboldt 89 Lake Co. 71
  13. seriously...me too. But the main thing is the funding. Also, if Humboldt doesn't want to play good teams, then we don't have to. I'd rather us to, but you never know what to expect from teams. People get on here and start hyping up their teams saying how great they're going to be this year. UC fans were predicting them to beat Humboldt by 10+, so people figured UC would be good this year. I'm not saying that they are not good, but we beat them pretty badly. I'm just saying, that whenever you schedule to play teams, you never know what to expect.
  14. I've been posting on here ever since Humboldt played Giles County Substate 5 years ago...so I'm not new. I agree with EVERYONE on here that brings up the schedule. Humboldt has played these same teams such as GC, Milan, etc. for the past few years and I wish we could change that up a little. But...UC did have a good tough schedule a few years ago and they got upset by Humboldt in Region Semis...so yes the schedule can sometimes have something to do with that...but then it doesn't ALWAYS have to. We (as in everyone on here) have yet to see Humboldt get backed into a corner and have to make a comeback, but that does not mean that we are not capable of it. Also, this team has 5+ seniors who have played in tough games, so they know what it is like. It's nothing new to them.
  15. This is totally different leagues but it goes along with this...but everyone was doubting my Memphis Tigers last year about how they weren't playing anyone during the season and that they would be the first #1 seed to get put out...well they ended up blowing out everyone whenever they were doubted...so in terms for my Humboldt Vikings this year...JUST KEEP DOUBTING US! YOU'RE JUST ADDING FUEL TO THAT RED HOT FLAME! I already know what you are thinking Legend, and yes Memphis lost in the Championship; that was because of free-throw shooting /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> ...Humboldt can shoot free throws lol
  16. That's why one of those weak 14A teams beat you in state last year...congrats...lol
  17. lol red, you beat me to it. Manassas went 14-15 ('05-'06), 22-12 ('06-'07), and 34-5 last year. The 2005-2007 seasons, Manassas played 95% of Memphis teams, majority of them in their district. The other teams they played were either from Nashville or Jackson. No one like Bolivar or Liberty or anyone like that. Doubt you knew that Legend. O..I'm just going to quote my friend red again for you.."Legend, you hide behind Buckner and an inner-city Memphis school that has 200 more kids to choose from than Humboldt does...You're team was nothing before last year and after this year, we won't hear from you at all because Manassas will be very average..And even with all that against Humboldt, Manassas is going to have to bring everything they got to beat us..." lol
  18. sorry to ruin it everyone..but the ice is falling outside. I live in the middle of Humboldt, not on the outskirts or anything. Weather Viking reports that it is currently 28 degrees and the rain is falling. Hopefully God is on our side so we can see this game!
  19. yea you're right...I was on the front row behind the basket that Charles shot at...made no sense to take that shot. O well. Hopefully he can get us back there this year and not make the same mistake. For this game, I predict Humboldt to win, but not by a HUGE margin. Humboldt 79 Lake Co. 64 Lake Co. has some size to match up with Humboldt and also speed (Unlike UC), but I don't see Lake Co. pulling this one out.
  20. I'm just curious on his reasons for starting the younger guys and the way he coaches. That's it. You never learn anything unless you ask questions...and who is better to ask than a guy who has won 800+ games?
  21. final on Humboldt and Halls? I'm sure Whitby will start his best 5 against Humboldt though. If not, then we MAY jump out and get too much of a lead for Lake Co. to make a come back. Bigster I remember you complaining about Whitby last year also. Does he do that for disciplinary reasons? Or just testing his youngsters?
  22. no, i'm making a point about how YOU are singling out Humboldt on how they blew out someone. Do you want to stick up for the others who Humboldt have blown out? UC did it the last few years, so quit singling out Humboldt.
  23. "what goes around comes around... it might not be this year but eventually humboldt will meet a team who is going to drill them just like their doing to everyone this year and they'll pay them back"...is it just me, or did UC did not blow out other teams in the past? lol...but thanks for letting me know that UC wasn't there because I was VERY concerned about that... /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
