  1. Yo frankie d, what time y'all coming up here? They still got baseball today?
  2. I agree; it should be about the ones that are here this week. But, I will say (and I am a Humboldt fan) that I know for a fact that Union City is better than at least 5 of the teams that did make it here. We all know the best team does not always win it all and that is what happened this year. (Ex. Villanova over Georgetown) Good luck to everyone the rest of the way!
  3. It is pretty obvious that the West is picking Humboldt and the East is picking Temple. So, let's hear what Middle TN has to say. What do the Culleoka fans think?
  4. Ok, I will settle this so everyone will stop crying about class and unsportsmanship. The game was sloppy, the refs were letting them bang it out, and things got a little heated, considering there is a championship on the line I can understand why. I am a Humboldt fan, but I am also a fan of seeing good games. This was not a good game; shooting was awful, turnovers were frequent, and the refs should have cleaned the game up from the start. Humboldt missed 20 free throws so if they hit half of them they win by 19. I want to know from the Wartburg fans what you thought about how y'all played. Is that your average game, does the big guy normally play more, or what y'all do when playing better. Yes, many peoplde from Humboldt and the West were picking Humboldt in a blow out, but if free throws are made then it easily is a 20 point win. And yes, they are speaking correctly when they say that this is the third best team in our district. I was impressed with the effort Wartburg put out today; they did not get caught up in the atmosphere and were not intimidated by the heavy favorite. DJ Shannon is legit, and I will have to tip my hat to him. As for the play were the Humboldt player did not let the Wartburg player help him up, I did not think it was that big of deal. Everyone is making it out to be like he is Ron Artest or something. Both teams were shoving and were mouthing at each other, so do not think that one play means that the West or Humboldt in particular "has no class." The Wartburg fans did not like it, but y'all were down at that point in the game and you probably wouldn't have even mentioned it if you would have won. But it is in the past and there are more games to be played. Congratualtions on a great season on behalf of the Humbodlt fans!
  5. Humbodlt did not shoot the ball well form the field today and missed 20 free throws; if they hit half of them, they win in a blow out. But I was impressed with Wartburg's effort and the Shannon kid is legit. I will have to go with Humboldt over Temple 66-56.
  6. Yeah they are the favorite, but on any given night you never know. If Wartburg were to shoot 60 percent from the field and Humboldt continuously missed shots and turned the ball over, anything could happen. But coming out of the toughest district in the the state, knocking off the #1 team in the state, and the experience of going to Murfreesboro three years in a row, you would have to say that Humboldt would be the heavy favorite.
  7. I am certainly not ruling out the fact that Wartburg could pull the upset; I just firmly believe that Humbodlt will win. I am not going to put down a team I have never seen play, but I do know what Hubmodlt brings to the table and when they are on their game it is extremly difficult to play with them. But, good luck to Wartburg, we will see you Wednesday for what I hope will be a good game.
  8. I agree. I am from Humboldt, and I do believe that last years team was a little better, but this group is not far behind. Yes, they ran into a guy who had the best shooting game of his career and got dunked on 4 times, not 3, I was in the front row and remember all of them too well. But, I sure do hope they bring home the gold ball this time; it is the third consecutive trip to the boro, and they will want it more than any team here.
  9. They lost their top three scorers from last years team, and the senior on this years team is the leading scorer.
  10. Sounds good. But why do we have to come to Union City? Y'all ought to come over to Humboldt since we won the last meeting!
  11. How many did Hudson end up with?
  12. I go to school at MTSU and have been both ways numerous times. There is not much differemce time wise between the two, but I would go through Alexandria and just go right up 96 cause there is less traffic and it carries you straight to the gym without going through all the red lights and Murfreesboro traffic.
  13. No one said y'all were that bad, we just don't think it is going to be a close game. Now, we could be underestimating y'all and you might pull the upset, but we just don't think so. We heard and saw the same thing last year with Cosby. Humboldt plays in the toughest district in the state and have been to state three years in a row now. So, it is not ignorant to pick Humboldt by 20+, it is just a pick and someone's point of view. We know we have been tested every night for the last few weeks so do no take it offensive that we are picturing a blow out. You know nothing about Humboldt, but we will see what happens Wednesday. Best of luck to y'all.
  14. Humboldt did beat Crockett Co. once and had the second game won. And y'all lost to them once as well so it would be a good game between Humboldt and DC, but don't get the big head that y'all are that much better than us.
  15. Plays great defense, athletic, size, speed, shooters, and play well together.
  16. Congratulations on making it to Murfreesboro. I am looking forward to a good first round matchup. What kind of game does Wartburg play? Do y'all have size or speed? Do y'all play at a fast pace or do you like to slow the game down?
  17. How did Westside beat Middleton as small as they are?
  18. Just because UC lost and killed your team both times they play does not mean they are criers. They lost to a good team, end of discussion. There was no choking involved. They are not talking trash about Humboldt, everyone of the UC fans has given Humboldt all the credit they deserved.
  19. I am going to make it down to Humboldt for the sub-state game and I am going to take the Vikings: Humboldt 78 Middleton 67
  20. I would think that Humboldt since they beat UC and play in the toughest region or Temple since they have been ranked in the top all year might be the two favorites entering the sub-state games, but we still have games to play before we start picking favorites to win it all since there have been several upsets across the state.
  21. Everyone that is not a Union City fan just needs to chill. If you played them this year, you know they are still the best team in the state. I am saying this as a Humboldt fan. Just because the fans are confident does not give us the right to say that they are not the best team in the state. Yes, the best team does not always win and this is what happened in this scenario. If the best team always won, what would be the purpsose in playing? That's what makes March Madness so intriguing. You have upsets and the best teams lose sometimes. Like when number 15 seeds upset 2 seeds you know the 2 seed is better, but you go ahead and play the game anyway. This is what happened with Union City (not saying that Humboldt was a 15 seed), but you do see upsets occasionally. So everyone needs to get off Union City's case; they were the best team all season and are still the best team. But the best does not always bring home the trophy.
  22. Ok to settle everything: Lake Co. and Union City lost; we all know that. Everyone does not need to come on here and dog their players or what the fans say on this website or say that they choked when it meant the most. In my eyes they are still the best two teams in the state, and I am saying this at a Humboldt fan. Yes, they get on here and talk their teams up, and they were pretty much guaranteeing state tourney berths and there is nothing wrong with that. They backed it up on the court all season long up to these two games. And I do not find the Union City fans cocky; they are just confident. Why shouldn't they be? They are the defending state champs and had not lost a game all year to a team in class A. UC and LC ran into two really good teams that have peaked at the right time of the year. I do not particularly like Union City, but I sure do respect them. They play well together, are one of the most unselfish teams I have ever seen, are well-coached, and they play the game the way it is supposed to be. So, I say we drop the talk about "What happened to UC and LC?" and just congratulate each of them on two very well played seasons and move on to sub-state and state talks. So, on behalf of all Humboldt fans, congratulations to Union City and Lake Co. on two awesome seasons. I enjoyed watching y'all play, and I hate that all four of us can't go to Murfreesboro, but that's the way it is.
