  1. The biggest detail in this game was desire! Whitwell wanted this win and they took it. They did what every team should do, if you are not successful hitting you bunt, if the team can't defend against the bunt , you continue! If you make errors you can't win. I called this day's ago at the Soddy Tournament, a very good coach friend of mine allways says "errors are like a cancer, they start and then they spread." Unless you stop it! Sale Creek and Whitwell for years have been both rivals and friends and if it had to happen I'm glad it was Whitwell. Congrats Lady Tigers! Maybe next time it will be Different.
  2. Take I-40 west to 27 south, take Soddy Daisy exit just past the Lake (if you look to the right at that time you will see the park) take a right at the exit, take a right at the signal light the park will be on your left. easy.
  3. Sequoyah 6 Sale Creek 1, not happy but true.
  4. I thought the season was great, the tournaments have been the best. I am very Proud of our Lady Panthers!!!! 11 inning win against Lookout Valley was the best game I've ever seen!!! We overheard people saying we shouldn't be distric Champs. Our Lady Panthers worked hard for that win and didn't say a word about the comments on this site. Last night we faced Whittwell, a great bunch of Ladies, they fight hard on the field and NEVER give up!!!! FCH will know they've had a game when they show up!! Things went our way, our girls played hard, they wanted it and they won, 7-2. I thought I would die before the last out, and never counted them out of the game till it was over! To repeat an old post, Thank you Lady Panthers for a season to remember, Thanks Chris and Heather, If there was any doubt it should be clear now. Keep it up Lady Panthers: Dist. Champs and Region Champs.
  5. Sale Creek won aginst Silverdale, 13-3.
  6. I sat here for the last 20 min. or so,,, reading how this one said that and that one did this,,, and I just wanted to wish all the Mothers HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!! Without you we wouldn't have anything to read. You Ladies are the real CHAMPS!
  7. Whitwell is probably the most solid, top to bottom, however at Sale Creek they won the first game 3-2. At home they lost 3-2. South Pittsburg is not as strong as years past, however they can surprise you. They run bases well and have some big bats. Sale Creek is fairly solid on defense, their bat's haven't come around yet? Sale Creek also has new Coaching and they are just getting used to them, not real good on the bases and they leave too many stranded. Lookout Valley, while Sale Creek won against LV both season games, it was without the #1 pitcher and catcher? Their games against Whitwell were 1 with and 1 without #1 pitcher and catcher, with the same result 2 loses. South Pittsburg split with LV 1-1, not sure about sittuation with LV pitcher and catcher on those games? It all comes down to who shows up? How the cards fall, and all those other sayings? One thing for sure it should be stressful but fun!
  8. Sitting here in the dark, my free-cell game on the ready, Coach-T on the net (as usual) I began to reflect on the season. Most of you from, Whitwell, South Pittsburb, Lookout Valley and several other Schools, know the trouble we've had in the last few years. Problems with our School Board, School, Coaches (or no Assitant coaches) it's been BADDDD! This season we we're able to see a little light at the end of the tunnel. New coaches, one is Baseball (and we give him a hard time over it) they both have been great for our girls. The best group of parents we've ever had. Last, all the teams we've been able to play, Parents and Fans have been great! Only one private School brought the redneck out in us, other than that, it's been the best season I can recall. So, in closing, way to go Lady Panthers! Thanks for the GREAT SEASON and remember most of us will be together for several years to come, more Great Softball for the future!!!!!
  9. I agree, having THE RING after sitting the bench for most of the year doesn't mean much. The memories, playing time, that's what it's all about. Our School has gone from the WORST team in the state to much better than avg. in the years we've been there. Don't get me wrong she didn't make the team what it was, it was good coaching, and a few players who love the game! I was told by our summer coach it was a mistake to send her to our school, she should play in the program that would put her in a AA or AAA school. He changed his mind after seeing her start her 6th grade year. Tuesday morning while she drove ME to school I asked "why do you play Softball?" Her answere was "Daddy,,, I love to play!" I had to ask, because I didn't want her to play for me or her mother, it had to be for herself. Playing time, memories, the accomplishments, I think that's what it's all about.
  10. I thought the title of this post was "Yelling at players....Productive or not?" not "Is Unc. the greatest coach ever?" If so it would be a short post with only one reply,, Mine saying NO! My comment was sometimes you yell to get the attention of a player,, sometimes it will pay off to listen? I don't believe in Nazi Softball My way or the Highway! A very fine Coach in a game situation called all his team to the mound,, explained the situation and ask his team what they wanted to do? THEY chose,, and it worked out just fine. My point is there is no answere to this question,, it's personal,, yell don't yell,, right or wrong? WHO Knows? My biggest dream in life however is to someday be half the coach you are.
  11. I think a coach (a good coach) understands his/her players on an individual basis. Some girls will get mad and give you 110% just to get back at you. Some girls will sulk and get upset and will continue to make errors on the field. You have to know which you're dealing with? The one game that stands out in my mind, we were in a tied game, a runner at second, one out, a big hitter coming up after my daughter. I called for the bunt, she looked at me like I WANT TO HIT!!!! I again called for the bunt and got the same response! I Yelled at her from 3rd "YOU DO WHAT YOU WANT YOU KNOW MORE THAN ME,, HIT,,BUNT,,, SLAP,,, I DON'T CARE JUST GET ON BASE!!!!! The next pitch she strolls into 3rd with a smile on her face, as if to say "I told you I wanted to hit!" My response was "You did what I wanted,,, I said get on." Some you push,,,, some you don't.
  12. Sounds like a Great game, wish I'd seen it! That's a game you will never forget, Win or Lose!
  13. Way to go Lady Jackets!! Not only did they have a big day on the Feild but also on the Stage after the game.
