Appreciate the input. Babe Ruth does not carry over to high school much. You can ask any high school coach that. If you had come to watch us play the last week, I think you'd understand where I'm coming from. I didn't say it would crumble (don't have a drama queen mentality), but GC has become a power that teams like SH & MC recognize and respect. MC laughed us off the field, and that's not what I or anyone else who walked before these guys enjoy seeing...On a positive note, I really hope the older guys can turn it around. They are talented, we've just got to get a better mentality. We need all the support we can get.

Here's my two cents... Do Privates have an advantage? Yes. They have college or pro type facilities, can hire the best coaches because of salary and work load, and they can recruit. In a perfect world they would play in their own league. But so what? Life's not fair. When kids from public schools are done with school, who will they be competing with for jobs? It hopefully teaches our public school kids that they have to work harder than some folks because they didn't get a head start. Coach Jon Wooden never worried about what the other team cold do...he only worried about what his team could do. Again, I'm a public school boy, that beat and got beat by some privates...and each game taught me a valuable lesson...

We're not exactly a veteran team, with four seniors and three juniors. Sophomores and Freshman are playing because they have to at this point, but it could soon turn into a "rebuilding season". We were slowly building a winning tradition here and Coach Boatwright is not going to let juniors and seniors tear it down. It would be better for underclassmen to at least get some experience. Anywho, I really think Marshall is down this year, compaired to their own standard. They should still finish in the top three, no doubt. Although they kicked our tail two nights in a row, I didn't see a typical MC team. My opinion... How has SH two pitchers looked?

For some reason, this year's team is starting to look like maybe they're not made of what past GC teams were. No grit, no heart. I'm not ready to say the season is a lost cause yet, but boy it sure looks gloomy... GC 2 MC 10

Hey, I'm right there with you on the potential... But an outstanding ball club will show up more than 1 out of 3 games. It's the first week, I know, but GC will have to play a lot better than they have yet to beat MC. And get pitching from someone besides Springer and their freshman...

Giles looked awful last night. MC was there to scout and I'd say they went home laughing. Could be murder on Monday/Tuesday...

Cant compare state titles. Holt won one with T. Smith, and should have made two more appearances in the Big dance, but failed. O'C won it with who? Wallace, whom O'C made what he was. Holt did nothing with Smith. Holt is just sour. He's made all this money from his Saturday League Basketball (tax-free might I add, and in a school gym, school electricity, so forth)and now the spot light is no longer on him. He used to run the school just like O'C does now... So he turned the football team in, not once but twice. The second time he put someone else up to it. Tell on your own school because a guy came in and fairly stole your thunder? Btw, Holt did a few illegal things from 2002-2007 that I'm aware of. Obviously not a fan on Holt, never have been, since I first saw him "Coach" a basketball game. Glad O'C actually teaches his kids the game, even if he does take too much time to do it. Lookin forward to watching another great game that will be beneficial to both sides regardless of outcome.

Giles gift wrapped and put the game on a silver platter last night for Marshall to get the win 8-5. As many errors as Giles made, a middle school team would have beat them. Hats off to Marshall for withstanding a late game rally.

I agree, and this is off topic, but I dont think Kanden ever played a varsity baseball game for GC. Ok, I'm not a real football guy but I know this... Giles County has never beaten DL. Not even when they had a talented senior class in 06 (Class of 07). I know things change, but come on guys, really? I'm from GC, and sure, I'd love to see us win, but I'm not ignoring reality. Not sure of the score. This could be close, but only if Lipscomb lets it be. Otherwise, Blowout, and everyone jumps off of the GC wagon once again.

My high school coach always said he would be glad to talk to anyone's parents about anything under the sun EXCEPT for playing time. As soon as the topic was brought up, he would ask for the uniform. I think high school kids are mature enough to form personal relationships with their own coaches. Coaches are there to teach life, not just sports, and I know even though I've graduated, I still love to go talk to my old ball coach and get advice or just talk about the braves. I think respect was lost somewhere along the line. It's not a matter of better or worse, it's respect.

Gerry, glad to see you back in 10AA. Check your #'s though, Fairview was moved out the season of 06. I wasn't around when Fairview made it that far, alothough I don't know how you end up with an even 9th spot. The great runs I remember came from MC. TRUST ME no one feared Fairview in the last 3 seasons they were here. It was an enjoyable game when we played them. I stand corrected. Thank You.

Lexington is good. Let there be know doubt about that. And I am very much for the L-ton Tigers, after-all, they ended my high school career last year, so I think they're pretty good. But let me say this. I do think their schedule is weak. I hope they keep rolling into the state tourney, but being undefeated in a regular season isn't a good predictor of post season success, and this is what worries me about L-ton. Remember Overton a few years ago...they rolled until the wheels fell off...IN THE POST SEASON. The tigers know how to win, I just hope they haven't forgotten how it feels to lose.

Yeah, 20 in one game...against a first year school. And 19...against Fairview, who used to fight with Lewis Co for last in this district. But hey, yall are havin a great year, so go get em champ! Not sure...I know before everyone got in, but the 1 & 2 went directly to double-elim., while everyone else played in a single-elim. game. With 8 teams in the district now, how will the tourney be played? I've heard bracket style with the 1st & 2nd place being two one seeds in seperate brackets, is that true?

Giles Co. has always had trouble with SH, even when GC was more talented, and this year I think the more talented team is SH. I know Spring Hill has lost some, but I think they could be the dark horse come tourney time, no matter what seed they get. I think they will split bc the differences in the two fields are amazing. SH's field is usually fast and Sam davis is slow, so home-field advantage will cause the split I believe.

Anyone surprised at MC??? Didn't think so...but I am surpirsed at Giles Co., & Spring Hill. A little bit at Loretto. I thought GC would be closer to the bottom, and Spring Hill closer to the top.

I don't really care what kind of music is played at a ballpark. Rap, Rock, Country, Alternative...whatever. Me, myself, I'm a country boy, but there's 20-25 kids on a team, and they all like different music. So play a little bit of everything. Just make sure it's all edited. I'm from GC. Played there, and I gotta admit, I'm sorta disgusted with the way things are being done this year. That's all I have to say about the matter.

Richalnd should make another run at the 1A title. I'm judging from what they did last year.
