  1. If an 8th grader is scoring Varsity points, then that's an achievement on its own! That player may score 1000 in her sophomore year, that's great..then it's on to 2,000! The 1,000 points is just a milestone, no one is "rewarded" with anything but praise, therefore no one should be penalized.
  2. I watched this one online too. I have a couple of "babies" on this team /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> I knew I heard the whistle before the buzzer, but I was hoping the ref might confer mercy and let the game go into overtime. No such luck. Before this call, the game was Central's to lose. They had possesion with 19 seconds left and tried to force the shot too soon, allowing 6 seconds for a fast dribble down court, one missed layup, an offensive rebound and another shot drawing the offending foul. Central should have made sure they took the LAST shot, the worst case scenario would have been overtime. Oh well, it's a hard loss, but they learned a valuable lesson.
  3. Central prevails over Mountain View (67-53). Way to go /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  4. Ridgeway's win over Houston should place them at #2 in 15AAA behind Overton. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  5. Anyone with the schedule, please post.
  6. What the heck is the "Plaxico Effect"? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> I've got to know
  7. Central has equally impressive results
  8. I've heard both sides. Some players want to work hard so that they can hit the collegiate floor running, and some hold back for fear of injury. This weekend I actually heard a player say that she "already has a full scholarship" as an explanation to her family for why she wasn't playing hard. What do you think?
  9. I totally agree DUKnow. White Station "appeared" to play with more intensity. Intensity is a nontangible, hard to explain. You see it in chasing down loose balls, pumping up your team mates, taking advantage of opportunities, being more aggressive, exuding energy even when you're tired, etc. I saw more of that from WSH.
  10. Millington prevails over Melrose 46-42. This is going to be gooooood /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  11. Actually it was Ridgeway that had to fight back, down by as many as 16. Unfortunately for them, the officiating was terrible. It was pretty bad in the East v. White Station game today as well, but White Station's 20 point lead is a nice cushion /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> All the White Station girls showed up to play and it showed. Good job!
  12. Any predictions for the Jamboree tonight?
  13. In practical terms, what does "probation" mean for a program? Are they barred from participating in any season activities?
  14. Actually, Hasina lives in the Ridgeway district and her older brother attends Ridgeway. I assure you that her education, both now and in the future, is her family's number one priority. Her mother teaches in the district and is very pleased with the education she will receive at Ridgeway--in fact she is now able to take an AP History class as a Sophomore, something almost unheard of at White Station because of the high demand . The academic reputation of any school is directly tied to the level of parental involvement in that school. Hasina's parents are extremely engaged in her academic life and she will do wonderfully at Ridgeway, a school that, may I add, is extremely underrated. Hasina is an Honors student with a 3.85 GPA, her education is well in hand. As for basketball, she may have to sit out the season, that will be determined by TSSAA. Obviously, playing time was NOT a concern /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> . Suffice it to say that Hasina did not leave White Station by choice. We'll have to leave it there.
  15. Can a coach demand that girls participate in open gym? Our coach got angry that our daughter did not participate in open gym and participated in an exposure event. He said she didn't follow the rules and kicked her off the team before TRYOUTS! /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> What are our options? Can she leave an optional program for her neighborhood school without sitting out?
  16. Not sure which team you're referring to, but Memphis Elite 9U are the state champs. Of course all the teams at Nationals are good teams and some teams have to lose, that doesn't make them weak. We are proud of all of our Tennessee girls!
  17. As far as age goes, that could be said for the Elite and the Trotters too! I sure got this one wrong! The best thing about AAU is that you get to know so many of the players that you can be happy when anyone wins! Congratulations to Memphis Glory for a great breakout year.
  18. Okay, here goes... Pool A #1 Shox #2 Bobcats Pool B #1 Memphis Elite #2 Trotters Final #1 Memphis Elite #2 Trotters #3 Shox Any takers? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  19. Memphis Elite 14u--Daniels had a clean sweep this weekend, prevailing over Memphis Tigers Select in the Championship.
  20. Where is the TN Select based? Any idea how they did last year?
