  1. My bad.... I guess I need to pay better attention to dates...............
  2. MY son's freshman team played McMinn Central twice this year and I don't remember Nicolo but I do remember 3 other players they had. I also don't see several other locals in East TN on the list that should be listed.... maybe this is an AAU only list but I guess it is hard to see these kids at this age.
  3. Hey Fever although it might not have been wise for the attempted dunk with .6 seconds left on the clock would you have done it? I know I would've if my school hadn't won a district title in 14 years and I had a break away and was able to throw it down...no question. Wasn't it equally unwise for the hard foul that occurred? I agree with you there that I would have fouled as well before I allowed someone to show my team up but why is the dunk not wise but the foul expected? I think it all comes down to perspective don't you? As far as the officiating goes we can argue from the beginning of time until the end of the earth but the truth is the only calls I've ever liked help my cause and all the ones I disliked went against me but it doesn't mean they were right or wrong. Although it seems like the refs were biased by the number of foul shots taken I thought it was pretty evenly called even if it was poorly called. It was just that AC didn't seem to drive the paint as often so they didn't have the benefit of getting some of the calls that Loudon was able to draw. I know there were alot of walks called as well but ... there were ALOT of walks. Theres me 2 cents as well Irish or not.
  4. We do try to be fair! We do try to be unbiased! But we are human....we do make mistakes. Personally, I try to learn each time I mess up on the floor, and I do my best not to make the same mistake again...Remember these things before you think an official is out to "get" you...its probably just not true.!!. Not to pick on you but "we do try to be fair, try to be unbiased, before you think an official is out to get you...its probably just not true"? sounds like you speak with forked tongue. How about when calling a game I call it fair and unbiased and do not go out to get someone. I agree that all are human and miss calls that is why kids have to learn how to play. The problem I have seen over and over this year is an inconsistency in calls. A mugging on one possession with no call then a touch on another with a call? How are the kids supposed to know how to play the game within the rules of the night when all is randomly called?
  5. 1 - Cleveland 2 - Cleveland 3 - Cleveland 4 - McMinn Central 5 - Lenoir City 6 - many others I haven't seen
  6. I've seen Cumberland Gap (at the Christmas Tournament in AC) and although they did win the tournament I believe LC Freshmen could beat them 9 out of 10 games. So that tells me where Cleveland is in my mind.
  7. A 20 year old may not be an adult (I do agree with this statement whole heartedly)but a 20 year old or a 15 - 19 year old should be old enough to be treated as a young man or young woman and not a kid. They should be able to be respectful as you say but they should also be able to accept criticism in all types of ways. I've always tried to live by the mantra of not listening to how someone is saying something but what they are saying and I've tried to raise my son and daughters the same. Granted I don't want some power hungry idiot ranting and raving over them because of a mistake in a game but in the world they may end up with the same thing on the job or in the military or whatever path they choose. It may be better for them to either learn that they can tolerate it now or stand up to it and act on it. Either way the worse thing we can do is shelter them until they are old enough to go into the world then release them with no coping tools.
  8. I've seen them both and Upperman I would think Upperman should win this one by 20+ points.
  9. In my experience it is best to do both which is totally possible, especially if you live where I think you do. Most of the AAU ball is played on Fri, Sat, Sun and practice isn't everyday so time isn't normally an issue. Also the AAU ball in your area doesn't go deep into the summer unless you travel pretty far to play. Plus the high school summer work/ camps aren't very time consuming either. But I will tell you that you will see a considerable improvement of your child's skill level if they participate in AAU. My advice is to do them both and if it becomes to much scale back on what you need to.
  10. After reading all of these posts about the condition of football at SHS it seems that the biggest rift is people having issues with being from Madisonville or Vonore. This is understandable considering the long rivalry that existed between these two but, the only rivalry that apparently is at the High School level now between these two is probably coming from parents and not the kids. Guess what parents your time in black and gold and blue and white is long gone... accept it. I understand the booster support is good but guess what... the boosters that do the work are probably the parents of the kids playing and not the general community and of the parents of the kids that are involved only a small percentage probably do most of the work. Instead of blasting your coach and worrying about who is from Madisonville and who is from Vonore you all need to realize that all of the kids on the field are from SHS and support them equally. Feel free to criticize this post all you want since I'm not in your community I probably don't know what I'm talking about but I did grow up a hated blue and gold Wildcat so I do understand how many of you think about rivalries between one another... but then again I wear red and white now since that what my kids wear and all of my clothes fit fine when I'm in the stands even when the blue and gold is on the other side. By the way thanks for Coach Staff!
  11. Do you have any contact information for 15U? My son currently plays 14U in Knoxville area but would like to try out for a different team this year or next. Currently 8th grade 6'1" plays the 3, 4 and some 2.
