Same thing was said about Rankin. That's a crock. SC would of never been worse than 8-2 had Maynord stayed. He didn't leave because of a drop in talent.

SC started downhill after Maynord left. It has nothing to do with this year. 20 something players tells u all u need to know.

So your trying to tell me that SC has a drop in talent. Jimmy Maynord was at SC for 14 years. His "drop in talent" was a 7-3 season. The only drop SC has had is coaching talent. A solid coach will never have a losing season at any school. Period SC isn't dedicated to winning right now. Maybe one day it will return.

Looks like SC is in the same position it was in after Maynord left. Nobody they want will take the job and they have to settle for who will. I agree...SC won't be back for a good while.

Coach Gentry's ties to Smith Co are pretty deep. I did hear he talked to the administration. Obviously they didn't convince him to come back. He has a kid thats close to high school age so maybe thats why he even sat down with SC. But I think he must be pretty happy at Lebanon. If you told me 2 years ago that he would be offered the SC job I would of told you he was a lock to take it. Things change pretty fast when you win.

Heard that Gentry turned down the SC job. Great news for Lebanon!! Hope SC finds a good one.

Heard from my source that Smith Co thinks they have a shot at landing Gentry. SC must be stepping up!!

Ive been digging with the Smith Co guys I know. He has been contacted for the opening. Thats all they know. And he has for sure done a great job at Lebanon. The only better pick for Smith Co Is Gary Rankin. And I do not see Rankin being interested at all.

With the Smith Co Head Coaching job opening up yesterday will Chuck Gentry leave Lebanon? I know is a Smith Co graduate and still lives in Carthage. Im sure he is a target.

With no news coming out of Riverdale yet it seems to me their 1st choice for the job has turned them down. If the Brentwood Coach turns them down too who will take the job? Seems like nobody wants to follow Rankin.

If you are a ticked off parent I hope you keep it yourself. Gary Rankin will be in charge. And he will not hesitate to show you so. If you dont believe me, look at his track record. You might not like him, but you will love the results.
