Sorry to hear about this. He was very respected and this is just tragic. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
  2. Wish I could have been there. Big win for Baylor...Wow!
  3. Had to miss the match. Updates are coming in real slow....imagine there will be a detailed update on chattanoogan.com soon. Congratulations to the Red Raiders. Go Baylor!
  4. Coach Morgan, nothing I say will help but the Baylor community, wrestling community and anyone that has ever had the privilage of meeting your family grieves for you. Please know that you are in our prayers. A Baylor Alum.
  5. Congratulations to Father Ryan. Coach Weekley summed it up pretty good when he said "we picked a bad night to play bad". Had plenty of opportunities and could not finish. Father Ryan was more than up to the task tonight. Heartbreaking loss for the 9 Baylor seniors for sure. Good luck to Father Ryan and Briarcrest tomorrow.
  6. Mathews also had an amazing year individally for Baylor. Congratulations to Baylor Cross Country for their championhips.
  7. Correction. Final score was Baylor 2....GPS 0. Baylor's 11th shutout of the season.
  8. Way to step it up both Baylor teams. The pressure was on and the Red Raiders did not disappoint. Wish I could have been there to celebrate with them.....Congratulations.
  9. Junior Sam Williams of Baylor. Through 7 games Sam has rushed for appr. 1250 yards on about 185 rushes. Average close to 7 yards a carry. What makes this especially great is that they key on Sam on almost every play and he continues to gain big yards. Baylor unfortunatley has been pretty one dimensional this year having a freshman qb....who has a promising future. But Sam has been the offense....just think that what he has accomplished with teams knowing what the play will be is amazing.
  10. 40 shots to 5? Surprised the score was not more than 2-0. Closer game than I thought.....just like Baylor's score over GPS was close. Rivalry games are like that no doubt.
  11. I agree. Like most posters said on this thread....you expect a close game when it is your biggest rivarly game. Not surprised at the score at all. But it really did not matter if it was 1-0 or 4-0....it is a great win for Baylor over their main rival. Again, Baylor got it done against a quality opponent. Congratulations to GPS also.....great effort and game.
  12. Well said....you obviously know alot about both teams. However, I would disagree on just one point....Baylor will have a great following at this game.
  13. District 5 Region 3. I wasn't sure either but found it on the TSSAA site.
  14. Typically when these two teams go at it, no matter the sport, it is closer than you would think. Rivalries seem to bring out the best in both teams. So while Baylor is the favored team I know that GPS will bring their best Tuesday night. I see a closer score than some think.... Baylor 3 GPS 1
  15. Help me out here. MBA....yes they are a dynasty in D2 AA. Am I missing something here with Ensworth being a dynasty? How so? Any reasonable person....please?
  16. Between the Bearden vs ND game and Soddy Daisy vs CCS there will be alot of good soccer going on in Chattanooga tomorrow night. Notre Dame 2 Bearden 1
  17. Sorry about the name mistake. It was an excellent article. If you want to send it in just email it to news@chattanoogan.com and he will probably put it in the editorial section. Thanks again.
  18. rollredroll...I will get information for you on the 1973 national championship team. You probably know this but NFL all pro John Hannah and brother Charlie Hannah were on that team. I don't know if the site you are working on needs this kind of info...but I cut and pasted the following from Baylor's website. Thanks. Fast Facts on Baylor Football At least five noted college football coaches sent their sons to Baylor: Tennessee's Robert Neyland, Alabama's Frank Thomas and Red Drew, Ole Miss' Johnny Vaught, and Arkansas' Frank Broyles. At least two Baylor players became college head football coaches. Herman Hickman was head coach of Yale from 1948-51, while Russ Faulkinberry was head coach at Southwestern Louisiana from 1961-73. Baylor football teams have played opponents featuring such future pro stars as Fran Tarkenton, Paul Hornung, and Reggie White. James B. Rike, the highly successful Baylor coach of the pre-World War II era, was an outstanding player at Ohio Wesleyan for a young and relatively unknown coach named Branch Rickey. Rickey went on to gain nationwide recognition in 1947 when, as president of the Brooklyn Dodgers, he broke the major league baseball color barrier by playing Jackie Robinson. A former Baylor player once won the prestigious Outland Trophy, which is given to the outstanding interior lineman in college foootball. Army's Joe Steffy, a 1944 Baylor graduate, won the award in 1947, the second year it was given. While at West Point, he was a teammate of Heisman Trophy winners Glenn Davis and Doc Blanchard. And speaking of the Heisman, Baylor's outstanding halfback Eddie Prokop finished fifth in the voting for the Heisman Trophy in 1943 while starring for Georgia Tech.
  19. Nick, That was an excellent post. And this comes from a Baylor grad from a few years ago. I just don't think people really "get" what an experience it really was. I don't know if Baylor will host it at home again next year or not...but I certainly hope so. But it was a tremendous amount of work that went into it but oh it was worth it. The only thing I disagree with is the outcome....so disappointing for the Baylor seniors especially. I will never forget that experience as well. I just wish you had written into the chattanoogan.com about you positive experience from a McCallie student. A McCallie parent wrote in putting Baylor down in it a few days ago. I agree this game is for the players and students. Thank you again Nick for the wonderful memories from last year......here's to breaking the streak though. Go Baylor!
  20. That is just great news. Congratulations to Taylor Davidson and Baylor. Glad to see Baylor ranked #11 nationally also. Keep up the good work!
  21. I think it looks like most teams turn in their stats....looks like ND does. But, as I am sure you have noticed, Baylor does not. Never stats on boys or girls soccer for Baylor in the Free Press or the Chattanoogan.com. Coach Weekley doesn't do it for some reason. It is somewhat frustrating but he has his reasons I suppose. However, I would love to see the Baylor boys and girls soccer players get recognized for stats.
  22. Owlfutbol....looks like you made a perfect prediction. Congratulations to Baylor and ND on their wins.
  23. Great game by two exceptional teams. Baylor took advantage of their opportunites and made them count late. Coach Weekley missed a great game. He was sick and Coach Blair did a great job filling in. Congratulations Baylor and best of luck to Notre Dame the rest of the way.
