  1. The injury is a bone bruise right on top of his foot, maybe back tomorrow night vs. Lebonon.
  2. According to the Tennessean BGA 5 - Riverdale 1
  3. Blackman 1 Siegel 1 Blackman played bad and Siegel played well. Blackman missing two senior midfielders due to apendectomy and injury. Starting foward 15 minutes into the game got a double yellow card, most likely for discent but not sure. Blackman didn't score until the last 3 minutes of the game. Siegle scored in the first 5 minutes, defender missed ball and striker had 1 on 1 with goalie and finished. It just wasn't a good soccer game to watch all the way around. I am biased of course.
  4. Actually White County only plays one team from thier district, Warren County, why is that?
  5. Unfortunately the reality is if you don't play on a very good club team, you probably are not going to play outside your state or a D1 team. However, there are some very good D2 and NAIA schools who play just as good or even better there most D1 colleges. The reason club teams are more likely to be see is simply tournaments. Unfortunately, soccer coaches don't get a whole lot of money to travel and recruit, unlike major sports such as basketball and football. So going to major tournaments such as the GIT, Raleigh, Disney, Atlanta for our region is the best recruiting tool a college coach has, unfortunately, they usually only go watch the best of those teams, so if you are on a great club team who has success themselves then you will get seen. I attended two college seminars, one by Indiana Coach Yeagley and another by Clemson Coach Adair who were the main speakers about college recruits and what to do and not to do. There three most consistent things that came out of their mouths and other coaches is they look for three things when searching for recruits, not that they don't look for anything else, but the three items were: 1. GPA 2. What club team do you play for and what is their success 3. ODP There were many other factors, but they emphasized those the most. Which is why I think this state could use an all start team at the end of the year, to play a couple of surrounding state teams as well, this way for those boys who don't play club etc... Could get seen by some coaches during those games. It is unfortunate that coaches don't have money to go see most players play in high school, but that's the reality. So a tournament is there best bet. High School tournaments would be another way, like the Hendersonville Classic etc... Players and Coaches not on select teams need to be contacting college coaches and letting them know about these tournaments, they would most likely come to that than an individual game. Most players from any level is not going to play there first two years any way, you are competing for a starting position against 21 and 22 year olds, who know the coaches system very well and are physically better than you. It takes a lot of hard work in off season to even get a chance to travel with a team your first year, no matter who you are. Those are the expectations that any kids should go in with, but if you work hard, really hard, not only might you travel, you may get to play. Ryan McDonald from FRA, as a freshamn was starting and playing at Louisville last year. He wasn't Gatorade Player of the Year or anything. Lastly, You need to look at a schools roster, how many seniors, juniors etc. do they have and ask a coach what are going to be your needs for the next three years. IF you are a defender, and they have four starting defenders that are sophomores when you are going to be a freshman, you may want to look for another program that needs you. Lots of choices out there. A great place to help you get started is www.thesportssource.com
  6. Lets be honest, rankings are nice and most are just opinions, but it does kind of give where you are as a team. However, you could loose every game in the season, what really matters is how you perform at district, regional, sub-regional then state. Same goes for winning every game up until those playoffs, loose in district, you're out. Not that it happens often, but both scenerios are possible. Ranking "IS What it IS" Don't take it personal when your not ranked as high as you might think, or because you beat one team and they are still ahead of you. Take it as motivation and play great in the playoffs.
  7. Now that I have read it again, my first thought it look like a question. Sorry.
  8. It should not count, game only counts if one complete half is completed.
  9. First off, I know a few kids on this team and they are good players. They are also not the type of players who like to talk about themselves. As far as how good they are, I think that is yet to be determined. When they played Blackman, yes we dominated, couldn't put it in the back of the net. However, you can't tell anything about preseason. For instance, most people probably didn't know they were missing two key midfielders when they played Blackman. Would it have made a difference, who knows. I know LaVergne has some talented players, so until someone proves otherwise, which pre-season doesn't count, they are a pretty good team IMO.
  10. No thank you, I feel very honored to talk with Big G. Tell Brandon hello for me. He knows me very well. Ron Reed
  11. Same side but different kicks. One was hard to the right on the ground, Paul actually guessed right and really over played the ball. The second was a Blast to the right. I think a professional keeper would have had a hard time stopping that one. By the way, for those interested Law 12 for NFHS "A player shall be penalized for deliberately handling, carrying, striking or propelling the ball with a hand or arm."
  12. Yep that's exactly what happened. According to the Blackman player, it was not intentional. His are was beside his body and not flaring out. It's not that big of a deal anyways. I was saying I wouldn't have called it, and if you ask 20 other referees you would get probably half and half, some would call it, some would not. It was a great game and Blackman didn't win because of the PK's, they didn't win because they didn't finish the ball like they should have. Technically, most hand balls are not intentional. I would say 95% of players don't mean to handle the ball.
  13. I referee high school as well, I didn't have my manual, it's at home. I was going to quote that later. I think it's the same rule for both. Most referees will tell you it's the referees judgement. In this case, even though I am a referee, I thought the call was wrong.
  14. Here is what LAW 12 says, straight from FIFA Website. I bolded the last sentence in LAW 12 for you. A direct free kick is awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any of the following six offences in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force: kicks or attempts to kick an opponent trips or attempts to trip an opponent jumps at an opponent charges an opponent strikes or attempts to strike an opponent pushes an opponent A direct free kick is also awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any of the following four offences: tackles an opponent to gain possession of the ball, making contact with the opponent before touching the ball holds an opponent spits at an opponent handles the ball deliberately[/(except for the goalkeeper within his own penalty area). A direct free kick is taken from where the offence occurred. * (see page 3)
  15. I believe there is 8 seniors, one junior and two sophmores.
  16. Game was tied 2-2. Blackman dominated the first half and it should have been 4-0 with two shots going off post. One goal scored by Adam Hueber from a throw in by Matt Reed and the other goal scored by Eric Barlow fighting through a couple of defenders from a ball from Chris White. BGA may have had two or three shots on goal in the first half. Blackman leads 2-0 in first half BGA stepped it up in the second half, but it was pretty much even between the two teams. Again may be 4 shots on goal, but two of those were PK's nicely finished by Stephen Morrissey. Stephen will have to let us know if he dove or not in the box, Blackman players claim he stated he dove. The second PK was a handball in the box, mind you the ball came up and struck the kid in the forearm, no intention, so it shouldn't have been call. It was nicely played soccer game and very enjoyable. Thanks for a great game.
  17. Thought it was my last post, but Well said!!! Thank you for your insight, finally an anwser. Good luck to you all, we could only wish that both of our teams meet in the finals of district and state. It would be great for our district and our teams. I think the game has been rescheduled for May 2, but not 100% for sure.
  18. True, probably the entire season.
  19. This will be my last post on this subject. FYI, according to a Cookeville Lacrosse Player it was 5-1 when they stopped the game. The game according to thier website said the game started at 600pm cst. I wasn't for sure, I just know when I went to the concession stand they were playing and I didn't see any officers there. Could have shown up afterwards.
