  1. He may a great guy (scn08), but if the "08" means "class of 2008" - his communication skills should be well ahead of the posts we see on this board from him. I hope what we see on this board is just an "act."
  2. Lebanon 2nd in the region? They have played pretty good to this point. I don't know about 2nd place at the end of the season. That's a bold prediction. Who makes it might depend on who beats Wilson Central and who doesn't.
  3. How many students attend Houston High? It's a very large school, isn't it? Also, how long has it been there? Just curious.
  4. or is that "yall" might like this? Bubba and Billy Joe are walking down the street in Atlanta, and they see a sign on a store which reads, "Suits $5.00 each! ,shirts $2.00 each, trousers $2.50 each. Bubba says to his pal, "Billy Joe, Look here! We could buy a whole gob of these, take'em back to Sand Mountain, sell 'em to our friends, and make a fortune. Just let me do the talkin' 'cause if they hear your accent, they might think we're ignorant, and not wanna sell that stuff to us. Now, I'll talk in a slow Georgia drawl so's they don't know we is from Alabama." They go in and Bubba says with his best fake Georgia drawl, "I'll take 50 of them suits at $5.00 each, 100 of them there shirts at $2.00 each, 50 pairs of them there trousers at $2.50 each. I'll back up my pickup and..." The owner of the shop interrupts, "Ya'll from South Alabama, ain't ya?" "Well...yeah," says a surprised Bubba...."How come you knowed that?" "Because this is a dry-cleaners." *********************** Well, I thought it was a cool story.
  5. "you're" is the contraction for "you are" - not "your"!! Correctly used as (example): YOU'RE obviously not as smart as you think YOU are. LOL x 1000 Glad to see YOU'RE concerned about this subject. Now, can we get the young people to pay attention to the details of grammar? (Won't hold my breath for that to happen)
  6. I'm not 100% sure what "sensense" is supposed to be (?)...but this early in the season only Smyrna looks like a lock for the playoffs. The 3 other spots are up for grabs. As far as using good english, since you are a fan of region 4, 5-a ball...maybe you have heard of Adam Smotherman or Gaston Miller. Do you really think they got into VU by using hillbilly broken english? Kids today need to take things more seriously, whether writing papers for school or even just posting on a forum.
  7. Hillbilly grammar might be funny when you see a skit at Dollywood, but it doesn't matter if a person is 17 years old or 40 years old - literacy is important. I couldn't care less what team he pulls for or against. Most people on here are just regular guys like me who try to support the local prep sports scene. If we encourage poor communication skills, that is not doing anybody any favors. (I also couldn't care less if you like agree or disagree with that.)
  8. Is your literacy really at that low of a level or is this an act? (It has to be an act.) Try re-typing that so everybody can understand what you have to say.
  9. The way RHS has played this season, they won't make the playoffs either. Maybe they can go to that little "bowl game" Siegel went to last year. If they finish .500 that is - and that is a big if.
  10. Before the green wave fans get too jiggy with it, remember there will be teams in the playoffs that can score big points. Smyrna is one of them. Don't get too jiggy too soon over a win over a depleted Hillwood squad.
  11. That is true. You have to take them one at a time and Glencliff may come in pretty fired up after the serious beat-down LHS put on them at their place last year.
  12. quote: "even if it was lavergne middle playing " ******************************* LHS 9th grade team is unbeaten and Lavergne Middle might be also (not 100% sure but seems like they were up 16-0 vs. Stew. Creek after only a couple of minutes)...still Glencliff made it interesting vs. a decent Overton team (at least for a while) - they are doing the best they can with what they have, but are not zoned in a way that makes for a football powerhouse. Hillwood may be down in football also, for a long time to come.
  13. quote: macclie would get all up i n yall face it u guys ************************************** Have you tried to find remedial literacy classes yet? Enjoy that win over BHS. But it doesn't impress anybody.
  14. Lebanon's defense is pretty decent. It should be a good game.
  15. Anybody who was actually there last night knows that the 2 bad snaps in the first half were a huge reason it was 14-0 at the half. People left the Centennial game thinking bad snaps would cost the team a potential "w" sooner or later this season. I didn't think it would be that soon.
  16. quote: Are we supposed to be impressed that Riverdale limped past Siegel, lost the next game, then beat Blackman who hasn't won a game since whenever?? ******************************************************** Maybe someday your reading comprehension will improve to the point that you could understand the above quote is in reference to the current season. But I doubt that will happen. So...what Riverdale did last season counts, what Lavergne did last season doesn't count. And what Riverdale did this season doesn't count and what Lavergne did this season does count? I just read that Blackman hasn't won a game since 2004 - and the RHS people have the nerve to be getting jiggy over a win against THEM...Glencliff could probably beat Blackman. Enjoy your win over a team that hasn't won a game in years. (btw - I saw that Mimms was suspended and didn't play for BHS, making the win even less impressive)
  17. quote: vs centennial they scored on a hail mary with less than a minute to go) ********************************************************** Obviously you were not at the game. Or maybe I should have spelling like some of you. ubveeuslee u wuz nut et da gaym (just kidding) Because if you were there, you would know a 20 or 30 yard pass to wide open wr is far from being a "hail mary." Are we supposed to be impressed that Riverdale limped past Siegel, lost the next game, then beat Blackman who hasn't won a game since whenever?? Is THAT supposed to impress anybody?????????? ???????????????????????????????????????????
  18. Can you guarantee RHS won't lose another game - or as you called it "blow abother win." That sounds like UK basketball fans who thought their team was going to be so high and mighty last year when they got their center back. Then they turn around and get sewpt by Vandy who only made it to the N.I.T. Let's hear an outright guarantee that RHS will run the table the rest of the way. Then we can compare notes later in the season and see who get the plate of crow.
  19. I field that one. I went to Cookeville. It was cold. But that would apply to both teams. I don't usually gripe about officiating. However - it was in a word horrible. People came back saying that they had been to "home cooking-ville" Tennessee.
  20. quote: I still say with that big o line Lavergne could run right at teams more and take some pressure of their qb **************************************************** YES!!! In the second half when Lavergne went up 24-12...and Centennial playing everybody both ways (and those guys getting dog tired in the heat) - LHS could have starting pounding and running wide more and salted the game away. I expect the next time they get a 2 td 2nd half lead, that might happen. P.s. - Lavergne fans. If you go through Smyrna to 840 it doesn't take long at all to get to Lebanon.
  21. quote: ***************************** Well when are yall going to go up to your potential.. we keep hearing it but havent seen it.. yall better step up or Lebanon is going to hurt yalls feelings.. ***************************** actually, anybody on any given week can get their "feelings hurt" if the don't step it up. The local pro team is finding that out really good anymore. Lavergne had a-rod get picked of 3 times in the first half last game + lots of bad snaps in the shotgun at the worst times - and only trailed 12-10. Now that they escaped with one, it's time for a full 4 quarters of quality mistake free ball. That's what I think. Taking nothing away from Lebanon or Centennial.
  22. The two big things LaVergne has to correct: Bad center snaps in the shotgun. Underthrown balls for picks. I they do that, they can take care of biz. Also they may have to forget about trying "cute" trick plays late in the game. That is something a team should try in the 2nd or 3rd qtr. That way if it blows up, they have time to recover from it. (and the db's need to be able to step in front of a wr for a pick when the other team underthrows a pass that looks like a punt)
  23. Not to take anything away from the win, but what was Mt Juliet's record last year? Are they expected to contend for anything big this year. It sounds like WC fans are getting jiggy over a win vs. a local rival and that's all good, but it wasn't like people were predicting Mt. Juliet to be the next Riverdale in football this year or anytime soon.
  24. Congrats to those who picked LHS close. 31-25 the final. 3 first half int's of A-rod and countless bad snaps at key points in the game in the shotgun helped CHS stay in the game when LHS had chances to put it away and didn't...which means give CHS credit too for hanging in there. And give LHS credit for the last minute rally to finish it.
