  1. In the Greeneville game vs Lex Cath I thought both teams got the wrong end of the deal with the officials. I thought that Greeneville got calls called againist them that could have went againist Lex Cath and felt that Lex Cath had the same done to them. In the end I felt they even out but I was very impressed with Greeneville two post players both played really well.
  2. With 7 minutes to go in the second quarter Lex Cath best player got called for her third foul and was not even near the play! The kid sit the rest of the half and then fouled out at the 6 minute mark of the 4th quarter. I have only watch Lex Cath play in the greene County tourney but it is very clear that with this kid in the game they are a top 10 team but the officials took it out of there hands and made it a easy night for Webb. It was very clear what was going on. I find it very funny that you say Glory takes a beaten maybe you should watch her more closely due to every coach I have spoken with says she play very dirty and cheap shots players from the other team in every game.
  3. Thanks to the HELP of the officials Webb took down Lexington Catholic. Novosel wasn't able to play but maybe a combine of two quarters due to picky fouls that she was whistled for and even two of her fouls that was called on her she was not even in the play. The kid still had 21 points and 7 rebounds and the great Glory Johnson was guarding her and Webb coach had to change it up cause she could not guard her. If they would have let her play as they did Johnson then Lexington Catholic wins this game by 10 plus points. I really truely believe the officials took this game out of the hands of the players and this makes me really feel bad for the Lexington Catholic team. The best three teams in this tournament were Lexington Catholic, Shelbyville, and Wilson Central. None of the three teams played there best games and this is how Webb was able to win this tournament. Webb was on top of there game. I am a huge fan of the greene county tournament but from talking to some of the better teams that were in attendance this year it seems if they don't start getting better officials then the better teams are going stop coming. In many games I felt the officials took the game out of the hands of the kids and make very important calls to makesure certain teams won the game. By the way I was at the Shelbyville vs. Webb game and Shelbyville didn't need the police for them to win the game unlike you needing the officials to win the Greene County tournament.
  4. How did the kid from Lexington Catholic Natalie Novosel do? She plays summer basketball in Tennessee for the Tennessee Flight and I watched her once last spring playing for them and she was awesome. Just wondering how she did againist MJ.
  5. I just got the information but it seems that Flight late last night beat Fencor with a healthy Elena Delle Donne by 8 to go 4 - 0 in pool play. Fencor which finished 2nd at AAU Nationals without star player Elena Delle Donne. Delle Donne hurt her ankle during the USA trails had not play until Nike Nationals. Flight plays New York Liberty Belles this morning at 10:15. If Flight wins then they will advance as the first place seed out of Pool C into the championship bracket. If Flight looses then it will be a 3 way tie for first place and the winner will come down to points.
  6. Yes, the same team but the difference is that they took 7 kids to Memphis. They rested the rest of the kids for Nike Nationals. So yes the same team but not the same roster. They are full roster at Nike Nationals
  7. Tennessee Flight is off to a 2 - 0 start at Nike Nationals. Flight defeated the Georgia Nike Elite by 20 this morning. Flight was led in scoring by Cetera DeGraffenreid with 29 and Angela Puleo with 16. Tennessee Flight second game in pool play was againist Orlando Comets Red. Comets Red two weeks ago won the 16 under AAU National title in Orlando, Florida. Flight led by as many as 16 but faught off a late comback to defeat the Comets 60 to 51. Flight was led in scoring by Angela Puleo with 18 points and Cetera DeGraffenreid with 14 points. Flight takes the floor again Saturday at 11:30 against the host team Riverview Park Bobcats and againist Fencor Saturday evening at 8:30.
  8. Tennessee Flight Silver went to Birmingham, AL July 10 - 13 to play in Nike biggest tournament in the early evaluation period and came home with the Gold Ball. Flight Silver defeated Boo Williams Summer League in the finals by 10 points. This event was said to be the best event in the early viewing period with 307 collegiate coaches signed in at this event. Flight Silver went 5 - 0 in pool play to advance to the championship bracket and then defeated Florida Essence in the Semis before taking down Boo Williams. Flight player Cetera DeGraffenried out of Sylva, North Carolina was named MVP of this tournament while Flight player Angela Puleo out of Maryville, Tennessee was named All Tournament. Flight Navy was also in this event playing in the 16 under division againist some of the top teams in the coutry was elimated by the Arkansas Sirens in the quater final game. Flight 15 under was defeated in the final four game by All Ohio Red. Flight 15 under led for the majority of this game before loosing at the buzzer by 2. I was told last night by a Flight parent that this event was alot more competitive than AAU nationals. When asking them why they just stated that Flight beat Dayton Hoopstars by 28 points in Ohio back in May and also have beat Orlando Comets Red by 15 points and both of these teams are in the final 8.
  9. I have seen both Flight teams play. Sunday was the first time to see the Flight Navy team play but after seeing them both the Flight Silver team is the better team. Team Pride shouldn't have beat Flight Navy from what I saw. Flight Navy led for the whole game until the last 3 minutes of the game. The 16 under state tournament was the weakest state tournament I have seen in a while. Flight Silver would have won this state by 30 plus every game. If you didn't know this Pride best player plays with the Flight Silver team. The game I watch them play she was the second player off the bench. She played well for them but for Pride she plays every minute so that right there should tell you something on how talented Flight Silver really is. I wish they would play this bunch somewhere in the state of Tennessee so everyone could see them. From looking at there schedule they play this weekend in Ohio. Here is Flight Silver roster Tennessee Flight Silver Coaches: Matt Insell, Phil Carr, and Melvin Wade Roster: Michelle Davis - 6'3 - Soph - Cleveland High School Katie Brooks - 5'9 - Soph - Heritage High School Cetera DeGraffenreid - 5'6 - Jr - Smoky Mountain High School, NC Victoria Dunlap - 6'1 - Jr - Brentwood Academy High School Cynthia Hart - 6'2 - Jr - Memphis Treadwell High School Ashley Herring - 5'10 - Jr - Bartlett High School Caitlin Holifield - 6'1 - Jr - Powell High School Tierney Jenkins - 6'1 - Jr - Wilson Central High School Ndidi Mudu - 6'3 - Jr - McGavock High School Natalie Novosel - 6'0 - Soph - Lexington Catholic High School, Ky Angela Puleo - 5'10 - Jr - William Blount High School Kerri Simpson - 5'9 - Jr - Cleveland High School Schedule: Showtime Shootout - Shelbyville, TN – Record 2 - 0 Nike Boo Williams Invitational Tournament – Hampton, VA- Record 4 - 1 Nike Memorial Day Classic – Columbus, Ohio – May 27 – 29 , 2006 Showtime Elite Invitational Tournament – Shelbyville, TN – June 9 – 11, 2006 Nike Basketball on the Bayou – Birmingham, AL – July 10 – 13, 2006 Nike Battle in the Boro – Murfreesboro, TN – July 14 – 16, 2006 Nike River City Classic – Memphis, TN – July 22 – 26, 2006 Nike Nationals – Augusta, Georgia – July 27 – 31, 2006
  10. The team practices once a week like all All Star teams practice. It is very obvious that your a very mis informed when it comes to high level of basketball. The better players are playing on the shoe company circuit now rather than the AAU circuit. When the Flight Silver team practices on the weekend they go for 2 hours on / one hour off / 2 more hours on again. I have been to these workouts they do on the weekends and it is very intense. The kids get all the work they need to get them better and the coaches in their program don't deliver milk for a living, work in a factor for a living, work as the paper boy, or run a rec center but the coaches coach basketball for a living rather it be at the high school level or small college leve (naia, D2). So it is obvious that you know nothing about the Flight program so if you would like to know how much their players get better then show up at one of their practices like I did and you will see. It is very obvious that in the state of Tennessee that the Flight is the best thing going at the older age. Like it or not it is the truth and they are going no where with the talent being there all the way through. I have even heard Matt, Melvin, Phil and Jim state that whenever people stop hiding behind screenames and want to play the Flight Silver team they will be more than happy to play anyone anytime just let any of them know. If you would like to watch them practice then showtime7 please post whenever you decide to practice this team again so set a virp can come and see if you are making your players better.
  11. I watch the 15 under kid Natalie Novosel that plays on Flight Silver (non aau team) at the Boo Williams tournament. She is unbelieveable, 6'0 shooting guard that can do it all and from talking to several people around she is rated top 20 sophomore in the nation. Someone told me that she played at a high school in lexington, kentucky and they finished like third in the nation and she was the leading scorer on the team. I just loved watching this kid play and I was shocked when I was told that she was just a 15 under. It would have been great to see glory and novosel go at it if Flight would have played her with the 15 under team. Also as sophomore on that same team is Michelle Davis, 6'3 power foward Cleveland, which is probably the best true post player I have seen that is a sophomore / 15 under age and she is playing up 16. I saw her step out and make a couple three pointers and also make very strong moves with back to basket. The last 15 under player that is playing up on that team that I watched was Katie Brooks, 5'9 pg / sg, which I don't see very man sophomore players in the state as good as brooks. I believe she plays at Heritage High School. I didn't see Flight Navy play at Boo Williams but I was told that they had four sophomores that were playing up that are very talented players. I know two of them are talked about on here alot Alex Jarrell, 6'4 Shelbyville, and Abby Andrews, 5'10 Collinwood. I have never seen either one of them in person but heard they are very good players. Flight future looks very bright in this age division. I was traveling watching my niece play for the 15 under team so wasn't able to see all the Flight games but these kids stood out to me if these are the kids people are talking about that is playing up. I may be totally wrong with my answer but these are the only kids that I can think of that is being talked about .
  12. I was at the Flight vs Elite game. I was for neither team but was very surprised how the Elite coach acted in this game. I felt the officials let both teams play and both teams had a player get a T. I ask the gym supervisor after the game to tell me the foul ratio. He then took me to the scores table and we counted the fouls, 24 called on Memphis Elite and 23 called on Tennessee Flight. That is counting the 3 T's the Elite team recieved so Flight had more fouls called on them. The Flight team to me is a better team than the Elite and before the coach got tossed from the gym the game was in hand by the Flight up by 8 or 9 points and shooting two FT's to extend it to a double figure game with 3 minutes to play. The 15 under state is wide open due to I think either of these two teams could upset the Pride 15 under team.
  13. Commador I agree with you totally. It seems a little odd and I got the nerve last weekend in Ashland City at the 15 under substate to ask why there team is not playing in AAU. His main reason was that he felt that it is his job to give his players the opportunity to play againist the best players in the country and to get the most exposure neccessary for his players and that AAU was not even close to being the best option for this in the 16 under age. They said if they did it over again they would have played in substate and state but having kids drive in from 5 hours away made it not worth the hassle. He told me last weekend at the tournament he took his team to in Hampton, VA that there was 297 D1 college coaches that signed in and how they basically doubled AAU 16 under Nationals last year. He said this is not set in stone to do every year and doesn't know if he will continue to not play his 16 under team in AAU but this year he did what he felt was best for his players in terms of playing the best competition and getting the most exposure. On there website it has a link to www.hoopgurlz.com and if you haven't seen the coverage this website did on the event in Hampton then you may want to check it out. In my opinion I wished they would have played both Flight teams in AAU but it seems what they are doing is best for the kids then I am ok with it. I also found it very intresting that Flight moved there 14 under team up to 15 under. It seems that all of there players were not in town for the substate last weekend and from what I was told between the two 16 under teams there are more than 7 kids that will play 16 under again next year.
  14. Flight has two 16under team. Tennessee Flight Navy is the team that was beat by the Wings. Flight Navy will still be playing in Cookeville at the state tournament. From what I read on the flight website Flight Silver is not playing in AAU events. It looks from the schedule they have listed they are only playing in Nike events. From reading the website it looks as if Flight Silver took third place at Boo Williams tournament. The information that I have gathered is coming from www.tennesseeflight.com
