haha yeah those "kyle wishing is the best player in the state" threads were pretty hilarious. ben, i actually saw will hitting yesterday, he's had a pretty solid year so far but the rest of his team is really weak. you playin him in individuals or something?

soccerpro, i'll be the first to say you've gone from being pretty timid "voges would kill me for saying this but..." to an outright dickhead.

This is still not a Public/Private debate; like I said, the schools we are talking about are all private. And its ad nauseam, not ad nauseum. I know correcting you is a dick move, but when you repeat a phrase like that twice you are clearly trying to assume an air of superiority. What I am talking about is the relative equality for private schools in DII, especially when some of these schools recruit. But I appreciate the effort.

Regardless of whether or not McCallie breaks TSSAA regulations to recruit, having dormitories allows them to obtain players from anywhere. Additionally, those metropolitan area statistics are almost completely irrelevant when half of McCallie's top six are from outside the Chatanooga area. The truth is, most schools do break TSSAA regulations, and I'll admit that I've even heard stories of Webb doing it. But never in tennis. Also, does McCallie offer any athletic or "diversity" scholarships? Webb offers only academic need-based scholarships, which makes it even more difficult to get players from outside Knoxville. Basically, you would have a hard time arguing that the playing field is level even if McCallie doesn't recruit, and in all likelihood they do. The numerous letters McCallie has sent to Brandon Fickey are a good indication of this. Finally, this is not a Public/Private debate, all the schools you mentioned are private. And I don't even want to hear the "non-boarding schools are semi-private" argument.

Webb played MBA today, and won 4-3 in one of the best comebacks I have ever seen. Webb was missing their number 3 player, harrison smith. Here's how it went down: 1)Brandon Fickey (W) def. Naveen Chadalavada 7-5, 6-2 2)Richard Brunsting(MBA) def. Chris Haydek 6-4, 6-4 3)Russell Anderson(MBA) def. George Butler 6-0, 6-1 5)Jim Shaub(MBA) def. Carter Tisdale 6-2 in the third. I gotta hand it to this guy; Shaub puked on the court 8 or 9 times, but played through it and pulled out the match. Only the 4 match was still on, Brian Carman vs. Palmer Campbell. These two have played several times, and Carman has never won. Carman (W) wins, winning the 2nd and 3rd sets in tiebreakers. All eyes were on this match, and Carman, an 8th grader stepped up his game to put Webb back in this match. Doubles: Fickey/Haydek (W) def. Chadalavada/Anderson 8-5 Butler/Carman (W) def. Brunsting/Hymes 8-4 Boom.
  7. Correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe Lang has been having pretty serious back problems, as we discussed a week or two ago. That is why addington beat him in individuals.
  8. Today Webb beat MBA 4-3. Dont know the scores, but Parks(W) def Baker Briggs def Hatcher(w) Crist(W) def Chadlavada Walling(W) def Anderson Brunsting def Mackabee (W) Dont know the lineup but i know Parks/Walling won their doubles, Crist/Hatcher lost theirs. 9. And Parks is going to walk on at UT... right? Alex Harris and Tanz Kane are both playing at Sewanee
  10. Yeah, that's where Hunter's playing. Is Kyle Wishing still playing at MTSU?
  11. Yeah, Tadd definitely signed with Washington & Lee, not what you said. I also heard that Adam Baker was going to play at Vanderbilt. Not sure about it though.
  12. I'm sick of this form of forum argument, where both parties ignore parts of the truth to try to win the argument. Yes, obviously, it is possible to have an exchange student live at someone's house, but it is much easier to get foreign students if the school has dorms. Also, to answer your question, we have one foreign exchange student. Further, you said "There is a reason you have tuition, can recruit...". Actually we legally cant recruit. We can in the sense that we could probably get away with it, and most other DII schools do it, but you seem to be making the argument that being in DII allows us to recruit. I understand what you are saying though; private schools can more easily choose their students and try to convince certain students to join through scholarships. Our coach refuses to recruit, which, like you said, makes us a little behind the curve; but quit insulting us, the players, for such policies because we obviously have no control over them. Do you get your jollies from arguing with high school kids? You're in college, and so you assume you are infinitely wiser than the high school kids, but clearly, if you must post every day of your college life on high school forums, your college experience is truly lacking.
  13. Furthermore, Harris, your Ohio state analogy was irrelevant. High school divisions are completely different from college conferences, and you know that. As long as Webb is in DII, their matches against AAA do not count for rankings, seeding, or postseason, and DII teams can only possibly play DII teams in the state championship. Obviously you know that, but that comparison would only be valid if the aforementioned facts were not true.
  14. Check out TSSAA's constitution, http://tssaa.org/Handbook/handbook.pdf . On pages 47-48, there are very specific regulations for recruitment, which division II schools also must follow. For the most part, even DII schools are not supposed to really recruit students. That said, i know many of them do... But it is definately an overstatement to say, "there is no reason not to"
  15. It's actually in Webb's mission statement that the school can't provide "athletic" scholarships. That's the way it's been since the school was founded and I don't see it changing any time soon no matter what the Division II rules may allow.
  16. Yes that is the match that counts, so yes we are going to state, jimmy epps is injured, and parks hatcher and crist all switch around at the top 3 spots.
  17. And what happened in the match today?
  18. Webb got an absolutely huge victory over Baylor today 4-3 in Chattanooga. The match came down to a tiebreaker on court 2 doubles and the Spartans came out on top to earn a spot in the state tournament.
  19. The top three are Alex Houck, Andrew Noble, and Tron Dareing. I'm not sure about the rest of the lineup, though.
  20. You might be right about the 3-5 matches going to McCallie, but I think Orlando will give whoever he plays a really tough match and I wouldn't be surprised if he came out on top.
  21. Maltsberger beat Hatcher Acker beat Walling in a close one Haydek beat Rahnema Mackebee beat Fulton in another close match George Butler beat David Cooper Ryan Markman beat James Dail Maltsberger/Acker d. Hatcher/Walling Mackebee/Haydek d. Fulton/Rahnema Bulter/Markman d. Dail/whoever he was playing with
  22. When TN High played at Webb earlier this year, Tyler Wilson was on 4, Jones was on 5, and Fletcher was on 6. Has your lineup changed since then?
  23. I thought mclemore was on scholarship and as a result was not able to play on the team. Anyone else hear anything about this?
  24. drew kerr... that name makes puke start rising in my esophagus
  25. I agree with you completely. I just don't think that the bottom half of the lineup is as far down as I've been reading on here.
