I would say the West stats look a lot like the cocke co ones ezcept not as many free throws. West played good defense and forced a lot of turnovers but as has ben the problem couldn't throw it in the ocean. Science Hill was not impressive at all. They do have some good shooters but absolutely no ball handling. I can't imagine how they could beat TN High.

The schedule here is not right. Left off a win at Chop House Classic. Split with Sevier. Did not play Claiborne. I think 13-13 is right.

South Doyle isn't a bad team. By saying they didn't "accomplish anything" I think you are missing the whole point of high school athletics.

Great Post. Thank you. Living the Mo West season first hand I can tell you it has been tough. However these girls have the "heart of a champion" and yes they got "lucky" but they more than deserved it and are now rewarded with a home game tomorrow night. Jones, Cross, Thayer, and Moss have been the "senior" glue that has held this team together, sometimes by a thread. Great job, girls. They are the defending region champs and no one can take that from them! Good luck to all I-MAC teams in the tournament.

West came out ready to play and won 60-49. Lauren Jones literally willed West to a win. She scored 18 pts. despite sitting out most of the 2nd qtr. with foul trouble. It was a total team effort but it was Jones' game tonight. Next week should be real interesting!

Heather started at West second semester. They were waiting till they sold their home and actually moved in to the West zone.

I agree, it is crazy. I thought if you played at one school during the year you could not play at another no matter what. Brooks walked off in the middle of the game during Christmas, transfers to Jeff and is playing on the varsity a few days later. George never played at East this year, transferred to West and was eligible second semester. Does anyone know the exact TSSAA rule concerning transfers??

LeMarr is probably out for the rest of the season, will know for sure next week. George gave West quality minutes against Jeff on Tues. She seems to be adapting to the program well and is really practicing hard. I say West gets a win tonight at Cocke Co.!

West definitely put the hammer on Cherokee last night, Cherokee didn't even score the first qtr...If West plays the next 2 games like they have the last two things could get interesting. I definitely think 6-4 could take second place.

Do you know exactly how Brooks got cleared? I have never heard of this happening so quickly, especially in the middle of the year.

I agree, looking back, West could have done a few things different at the end but the little guard that had the ball at the end is a freshman that probably doesn't have 5 min. of varsity time for the whole year. Hats off to West for a great game. Hopefully this is a turnaround game for them. They sure need it!

Greeneville over Morristown West 31-29. West gave Greeneville all they could handle. They had a great defensive game plan despite having their 2 senior posts and starting point guard on the bench in street clothes due to injuries. The young kids stepped up and Jones, Cross, and Thayer played their hearts out. As in last year's district and region finals Galyon certainly outcoached the Greeneville coach. Greeneville is loaded with talent. If this continues West will win some games down the stretch.

Yes and no he has not mellowed! I have never seen such behavior. Can't believe the parents and administration allow it to contunue.

Hall of Fame games do not have to be counted. Most teams only count them if they win. Seems like everyone should do the same.

I agree--have not been that impressed with Lexington Catholic. We'll see.

west 56-sevier 44 However West took a hard blow as it looks like Mayes went down with an acl injury. This would be the third acl injury for that team in the past 8 weeks! The second starting post player! West played much better last night but this will be a big blow if the mri is positive.

West has been struggling to find their offense. Last year Phipps was the go to player and no one has filled that spot. They play tough defense but are missing a lot of easy shots created by their defense. They have only had their post player (Mayes) back a month so things haven't come together. I think they will get better in the coming weeks.
