The 16th annual Diamond Classic Softball Tournament hosted by Waverly Central High School will be held April 22/23, 2011. The tournament is held at Buckner Park in Dickson (which is located about 25 miles west of Nashville right off of Interstate 40). Entry fee is $200 with a 4 game guarantee. Last year's tournament included teams from Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Florida. Field will be limited this year to first 24 teams.

I saw where Marshall County defeated Creek Wood 4-2. Can anyone give a game summary? I thought this might be Creek Wood's year to break through, but evidently Marshall County must have a pretty solid team. Congratulations to Marshall County for a big win and also to Creek Wood for a good season.

First of all, I haven't seen Marshall County or Lewis County play this year, but I do know Camden and Creek Wood are both loaded with talent and very good. Obviously, Marshall County and Lewis County are both good ball teams as well and in a one game situation anything can happen, but I think Camden and Creek Wood both win and advance. I think Lewis County has a very difficult task trying to win at Camden. I don't see them being able to hit Brandenburg at all and Camden will find ways to score. As for Creek Wood, they probably have more talent top to bottom than any team in class AA. They are solid in every aspect and really have no weaknesses. I think this is the year they finally get the monkey off their back and defeat Marshall County. This would set up a huge rematch with Camden and Creek Wood in the region championship for the opporutnity to host sectional and most likely stay away from Goodpasture. Should be some good games and best of luck to Camden and Creek Wood.

No disrespect to anyone else, but if Houston County has the opportunity to hire Les Trotter then they need to do it as soon as they can. Trotter is a proven winner with several state tournament appearances at Summertown. He is also one of the best and hardest working basketball coaches you will ever find.

I agree. They have live coverage for basketball, but it takes 24 hours to get a box score posted.

Enjoyed watching this game. Both teams missed on some good scoring opportunities, but both teams (and pitchers) also made some good plays on defense to get out of jams. Just curious who does the official scoring for the TSSAA because I've noticed on several games the "official book" is not even close to being right. For example in this game, they didn't give an error to the Lexington left fielder which led to the winning run being scored.

Lexington is very good....a team that is flying under the radar, but it would not suprise me if they won the whole thing.

That may be Houston High out of Germantown you are talking about. I know some of the teams from West Tennessee that were scheduled to play in the tournament instead got together and played each other due to the uncertainty of the weather and tournament. This was a good idea and hopefully they all got some games in as well.
