  1. While you are correct, and I wish it werent this way, that is not the system that we live in, and this man's son should have a shot to play college ball just like every other young man that shouldnt be elligible to play
  2. and no, i wont spell check b/c i dont care that much, and I dont have to make sure all of u are happy when reading my post Oldtimer. That just isnt my job
  3. This "if you can play, you can play" claim is simply not true. You have to look at the skill level and mainly THE SPEED OF THE GAME. This is what he wont be ready for at the next level. And yes, you are correct about Croyle, but my point is that there are pleanty of success storys and even more that didnt turn out that way. I would never wish ill will on a kid, and I hope he does very well, but I wont be suprised if he doesnt do well. The numbers can often times lie about a kid playing this level of athletes week in and week out. The only reason no one has my back on this is b/c none of the big school fans are looking at this thread b/c they dont care about TEMPLE FOOTBALL
  4. Look, I have been a part of, or watched many different levels of High School sports, and my point is that I would like to see what he could do against players that could start for red bank MIDDLE. I am talking more about the 1A schools than I am the 2A. That level of compotition is rediculous. There have been SO MANY players come out that were so over rated b/c of the comp. they played against week in and week out. I will be interested to see what he does against real tallent. Having played at Temple, will not even come close to preparing him for the speed of the college game. It is gonna take a huge adjustment. It will be interesting.
  5. Look, never seen him play, not gonna lie, but there is still a lot more Will Heely's out there from schools like Boyd, Temple, etc. then there are Eddie Moores. I am sure he is a great athlete, but I played sports at both the small private, and large public levels, and I have seen first hand the LARGE difference in tallent. The fact is, this isnt about how many people have signed with Ooltewah, I personally dont care what my former school does, all I am saying is that we would not be talking about this kid at all if he went to Hixson rather than Temple. He would probobly be getting challanged for a starting spot by some hot shot freshman, cause even good players go through that at large public high schools, but if there is ONE athlete on a team like Temple, they stick out like a white elephant.
  6. Having been a multi-sport athlete in recent years, I can tell you, it set me back in each and everyone of those sports. All of the rest of the players were polishing their skills in a particular sport with the team while I was trying to catch up with the other team at the begining of that season. It is hard on these young athletes and almost impossible for a kid who wants to be well-rounded. The TSSAA should step in here and make a change quick. It is unfair and needs to be stopped.
  7. Look he could throw and run for 8,000,000,000,000 yards and I still would not care. These small private schools around here are a joke and everyone knows it. He might get signed on somewhere, but the fact is, when u play against GRACE, you are gonna put up big numbers, plain and simple. The only decent athlete to come out of this area from a school like that was the oldest skogan. He was a stud basketball player. But even still, he wasnt all he was cracked up to be b/c of his inflated numbers. This kid is gonna fall flat on his face if he gets signed. Temple is on the same level as many good 8th grade squads i have watched.
  8. Tennessee cant even be THOUGHT OF in this conversation. Otherwise, schools such as UT would be drooling for some of this in state talent, but b/c it doesnt even compete with states like florida, south carolina, texas, and california Tennessee is always having to look in other places. Our state doesnt even factor into this discussion
  9. I saw Troy Flemming (BGA, now with the Titans) run WILD on Notre Dame for like 400 yards. I also saw Both the Bullock Twins play at Ooltewah when I went to school there. They were amazing. I was glad I wasnt playing varsity ball yet. LOL.
  10. I am not gonna claim to be an expert on this, but I do know about HS football in chatt. 2 of the best I have seen (or been a part of) are Ooltewah vrs. Central McCallie vrs. Baylor Both have lots of bad blood and its quite fun to watch
