  1. Yep- Personally not a big fan of Germantown. But, I do respect their history. They were the power in the 80's and 90's in this area and will get back to that point with the right hire. Too strong of youth program already in place not too. I suspect that if the right hire is made that Germantown will be back towards the top within a few short years.
  2. Unfortunately Dou has been under the weather this fall and hasn't been able to make many of the road games this year. He is a huge supporter and bleeds black and gold. If he could be there he would. That's for sure. I have always heard about the GREAT atmosphere at Henry County and I am eager to get to experience it first hand. Should be an extremely cold night for football. Reminds me of the playoff game in 2007 in 2nd round vs White Station. It was so cold that the lens of the camera froze over. Thank goodness for the pot of hot chocolate we had in the press box. It was a true life saver. As I said in an earlier post, Our Trojans are going to have to play mistake free football and cause a mistake or two from Henry County in order to get the win. Otherwise, I see It as a 24-13 win for the Home team. Hope I am wrong. If we had our starting RB, Henry County would be in real trouble. He adds a dimension to our team that we truly miss. Go Trojans!
  3. Rutherford is an excellent coach. He is currently on Major Wright's first year staff at Raliegh Egypt High School. Wouldn't be surprised if Major Wright isn't a possibility thus leaving RE open for Devin Rutherford. There are going to plenty of applicants for the Germantown job. It's a sleeping giant in Shelby County.
  4. Millington would love to renew the Millington vs Whitehaven rivalry.
  5. Germantown High School is now looking for a New Head Football Coach after Charlie White has stepped down to pursue other coaching opportunities. Germantown is one of if not the top Public school football job in Shelby County. I am sure there will be huge interest in this opening. Through out some names that could be realistic possibilities.
  6. We have had our share of kids like that too. In the late 1990's we a had 6'3 235 pd monster of a LB that was a can't miss d-1 and future NFL prospect. All the major universities were here recruiting him (Tennessee, Florida State, Auburn, Alabama, Etc). He chose the "wrong" way with life and has been in and out of prison ever since. 3 of his HS team-mates went on to play major college football and had a cup of tea in the NFL. The LB was a better prospect than all three.
  7. On a serious note, What ever happened to the Full back that played for Henry County a couple years back that was a high d-1 prospect? I thought he signed with LSU didn't he?
  8. Will there be any people of the 10 buses? Maybe it's going to be 10 empty buses? Hmmm...
  9. It wasn't the cold weather that has the deer spooked... It's the Millington Trojans!!!
  10. Not to air our dirty laundry, but why hasn't the basketball games scheduled for tomorrow night been moved to saturday night. It can do nothing but hurt both crowds to have the games played at same time as the football playoff game. Come on Administration- Move the hoops games!!!!
  11. Flip flops don't interest us. We prefer to go with bare feet. That's how we roll!
  12. Millington fans and coaching staff will dress accordingly. We will be wearing tank tops and jorts. Thanks for the heads up.
  13. Doug- Thanks for the kind words. Though It is definitely a challenge, I am confident that Chris and his staff will have our Trojans ready to play. We will play hard for 4 quarters and let the chips fall where they fall. Win or lose I have enjoyed the effort, determination, and passion that this team has played with. It would have been easy for this team to quit after injuries started to mount up. Instead, they became even closer and have put themselves in a position to keep playing in late November. Go Trojans!
  14. There has got to be more to this story than just wins and losses. A coach rarely losses his job after one year due to lack of success on the field. I suspect that there was something outside the lines that caused his termination.
  15. Without injuries, I think that we would have split the games with MBA and Liberty worst case. Quite possible winning both games. With that being said, Injuries are part of the game of football and Championship caliber teams find ways to win no matter the injury situation. In my humble opinion, My Millington Trojans will have to play extremely well and the Henry County team will have to make mistakes for us to come away with the W. We are limited offensively with Eldon only at about 60% and without the play making ability of Keno at RB. Stranger things have happened!. We had a team with 3 future NFL players lose in the first round of the playoffs one year. So, the best team doesn't always win. The crowd that we bring will not likely be large- But it will be Loud and is most definitely extremely loyal. Though very close to Memphis, We still fashion our self with our own "Millington" identity. You will see that Identity and "PRIDE" on Friday Night. We are MILLINGTON!
  16. Agree 100%. Tyms is a warrior. When healthy he is as good a dual threat QB as this area has to offer.
  17. Let me preface my comments by saying that I have been in and around the Millington program since the mid 1980's. In recent years, we have done our best to strengthen our non league schedule by scheduling at least one non conference game against a state championship caliber opponent. This year we played both Montgomery Bell Academy, and Liberty Tech in non league games. We were dead even with MBA at half-time before injuries sealed our fate. The team that got trounced by Liberty Tech did not resemble the team that started the year 5-0. We did not have our starting QB, top two running backs, and our top LB. As important as our QB is to our offense, our LB, 6'3" 230 SR LB Patrick Macon (#44) is as equally important to our defense. He has lead our team in tackles for three consecutive years and is a division 1 college prospect. Fortunately for us, we will have our QB, LB and one our 2nd team RB back for this playoff game. Though only the LB is at 100%. Our QB is only about 60%. He is truly a warrior and is cementing his legacy as one of the favorites of all time by battling through injury to lead his team in the playoffs. He will have to play extremely well for us to have a chance to pull the upset on Friday night. I hope that he is healthy enough to do just that.

  19. Thanks! Hope that I can keep the momentum rolling for week 2!
  20. Macon is indeed the 2nd best LB in the area behind McMillon. Whitehaven is the premiere public school program in Memphis and is attracting the best football players (Call in recruiting if you would like- I call it a good feeder program). Millington is a small town on the outside of Memphis. If Patrick Macon played at Whitehaven High, He would be a high major recruit just like McMillion.

  22. Penny does not want to officially have the title of Head Coach. Having that title would limit his ability to do what he does with his AAU program. However, He is more than willing to do as he has done at the middle school level and be a volunteer coach assisting someone else. I see that as a possibility at East.

  24. One of the worst beat downs we have experienced in the last 20 plus years. But, We are a shell of the team that began the year. Our top 2 running backs and top 2 quarterbacks are done. Defensive MVP LB did not play leaving us with 145 pd freshmen at numerous positions on the field. Not a good recipe when playing a really good team that has played together for three years. If Liberty had a better passing threat at QB, they would be a real threat to take home the Gold Ball. Ultimately this lack of a real passing threat will prevent them from going too far in the state playoffs. Millington of years past found that out in more than one year. You have to be able to complete a 7 yard pass on 3rd and 6 when the defense puts 9 men in the box. I don't think Liberty can do that. Hope I am wrong. They are a fun team to watch and seem to have a good coaching staff.
  25. Devin Bush is the real deal. He is a better RB prospect than any of the Memphis area kids that have signed with SEC schools in the last few years. He is better than Kimbrough, Walyton, Wilkins, Dodson, Robinson, Genesey, ETC. At 5'11" 200 pds he has great speed, vision, and explosiveness. If his grades are in order, He will make a big time college program extremely happy. He has all the tools to be a big time player at next level.
