  1. Well mjuhb shows his data for Tullahoma as Region, Record, Great Wins, Close Loses, Bad Loses Tullahoma(8-3-2)CPA Brentwood, Smryna and McMinn Co Ties vs OOltewah and Grace From Euro Sport I just don't see the Great Win on Brentwood... just a win against Blackman in a Scrimmage... The Franklin win and loss to Grace in a shoot-out might have earned them some points with him. We played them to a tie at the end of a long weekend tourny at CCS and they seemed a strong and very capable team. 08/23 * at Coffee Co (2-6-3) W 1-0 1-0-0 1-0-0 08/24 Murf. 2. Their weekend results would seem to be a little disappointing for such a good team 09/15 T 0-0 Tour Germantown 09/16 L 0-2 Tour Father Ryan 09/16 T 0-0 Tour Ooltewah 3 games and no goals doesn't seem normal for JP2. I can't speak to injuries or anyone quitting. I just know they gave the Lady Owls about a tough a game as they've seen this year. Best of luck to them.
  3. Any one have a good link for the hosts of the Ladies Championship Tournament this coming weekend? Something that showed actual addresses for the fields and/or maps local area would be of help. Hotel reservations I've got . I only know that Ooltewah is playing CCS at CCS on Thursday night then Father Ryan and Pope JP2 at either DCA or Trevecca on Friday and Saturday. Any help appreciated, my google search didn't find much.
  4. At OHS I seem to remember the booster club voting on whether we wanted to pay for 3 refs at all home games, including tournaments. For the safety of all the girls involved, we voted for it again this year. Ahh well, one more fund raiser. PLEASE, pick up your OWLS stadium seat $8 or 2/$15 at a location near you. Other schools probably do it differently I'm sure.
  5. Any word on the condition of Anna Fisher of Centennial? [Listed #1 for Forwards] She was injured, at the Centennial - Notre Dame Game Saturday 8/26. I understand that after a collision with the ND GK in the 2nd half she was taken to the hospital, off the field by ambulance on a back board with a neck brace. Got to observe her in action against Ooltewah Friday night and she is truly a gifted and amazing player. She scored in the first 23 seconds of the game, and left some experienced defenders shaking their heads wondering what just happened. Her movement with and without the ball is what you want your girls to aspire to. I hope she recovers quickly and completely.
  6. I thought it was a good game for both teams. A 10 minute drenching at the start of the game made for some difficult conditions, but both teams dealt with it. #1 for GPS had some really fine runs that were thrown majorly off by a pool that formed above the box on the East end of the field. Ball stuck like glue and both the offensive and defensive players were often seen trying to apply the brakes and go back for a ball that had suddenly stopped moving. Showers of muddy water ensued as the ball wouldn't cooperate when attempts were made to remove it from the pool. Scoreless first half. Score by GPS (approx 10 min in 2nd half) was on a long ball (may have been #1??) that arched nearly perfectly into the top left side panel, over the OHS GK's hands. Owls made a flurry of runs at the end, but GPS's four flat was solid and their GK made some good smothers, in slippery conditions, on some long low hard shots from OHS's MFs. Best of luck to both, and congratulations on a well fought game.
  7. Sorry.... I don't see those as I almost always connect directly into the message boards and don't travel back up to the Home or Sport/Home pages.
  8. Is there a place to pin articles? Chattanooga.com has one on local teams and another on local players to watch Baylor Picked to Lead Chattanooga Soccer Teams Top Ten Teams Previewed http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_91151.asp 2006 Soccer Preview: Top 10 Players to Watch http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_91123.asp Lady Owls playing GPS tomorrow at OHS, can't wait! 5PM JV and 7PM Varsity, come and give'em a look!
  9. Notre Dame 3 Ooltewah 0 ND put in 2nds after 2-0, OHS subd through-out and everyone got some time. ND looked very good with scores on headers from corners kicks and a nice serve and a 1 on 1 w/GK for a shot and goal. Owls had some opportunities but ND's solid D never cracked. Good scrimmage though. Lousy field conditions at Redoubt with piles of cut grass, no painted lines, and 1 barely netted goal but obviously both teams had to deal with it equally.
  10. Ooltewah to scrimmage Notre Dame at Redoubt 5PM today. No JV AFAIK.
  11. Nicely balanced reporting on the Chatt teams IMO. But it seems wrong to ascribe a story to by A Big Volleyball Fan Now we will all have to wonder who that could possibly be.
  12. Yesterday must have been off the charts for Siegel luck wise. I understand their VB squad got caught behind that 18 wheeler explosion in Chattanooga yesterday. Word was 3+ hours trapped in a bus where the AC had mysteriously failed. Maybe someone at Siegel angered a voodoo priestess somewhere.
  13. I think this is from a current edition of the rules. I'm not a lawyer, but it doesn't seem to say a principal can't be a coach assuming they meet all other requirements and there isn't a problem with them reporting to and approving themselves for the position. http://www.asep.com/asepdata/asepmedia/TN%20pdf.pdf Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association Coaching Education Requirements All coaches will fall under one of the following categories: 1. Full-time employee (a minimum of 100 school days) of a board of education with a Tennessee state teaching license or the equivalent. 2. Retired educator (5 or more years’ experience) with a valid Tennessee state teaching license or the equivalent. 3. Non-faculty coach—Anyone approved by the principal, superintendent, and/or local board of education in the normal course of employment procedures in accordance with applicable state law. A. The position shall be advertised and no full-time employee with a teaching license who meets the qualifications required for coaching the specific sport in question is available. B. Head coaches in football, basketball, baseball, girls’ softball, and track and field must be full-time employees or a retired educator (see #1 and #2 above). C. Head coaches in girls’ volleyball, cross country, golf, wrestling, tennis, girls’ soccer, soccer, and bowling may be full-time employees, retired educators, or a non-faculty coach. A non-faculty head coach must take the NFHS Coaches Education Course in a TSSAA-approved course within two years of assuming the head coaching position. He/She must attend the TSSAA Coaches Training Session within the first year of assuming the position. D. Assistant coaches may be full-time employees, retired educators, or non-faculty coaches. If a school is using a non-faculty coach as an assistant, they are limited to two assistant coaches in football and one assistant coach in all other sports. Non-faculty coaches who have completed the TSSAA Coaches Training Session, the NFHS Coaches Education Course, and have three years experience do not count towards the limit of two in football and one in all other sports. Schools must continue, for insurance purposes, to send the names of all non-faculty coaches to the state office. E. A person who has served as a non-faculty assistant coach in football, basketball, baseball, girls’ softball, and track may become a head coach in that sport if that person has five or more years of experience as an assistant coach and has taken the NFHS Coaches Education Course in a TSSAA-approved course and attended the TSSAA Coaches Training Session. F. All non-faculty assistant coaches must complete the NFHS Coaches Education Program in a TSSAA-approved course within two years of his/her employment and must attend the TSSAA coaches training session within the first year of his/her employment. G. All non-faculty coaches and all first-year teachers who are coaching are required to attend the TSSAA Coaches Training Session during their first year of employment. H. All coaches are subject to the TSSAA rules and regulations and must conduct themselves in a manner becoming of a coach and representative of the school. All coaches are responsible to the principal of his/her school. Coaches must be paid entirely from funds approved by the board of education or the governing board of the school. 15. At this point someone is supposed to post a blurry cell phone picture that could either be Ravenwood players in pads or Bigfoot on his way to Sonic, luckily, the front page of a local newspaper proving the date will be in the shot. I'm leaning toward it being Bigfoot, personally. Yes I have a low post count... I hereby apologize to all offended beforehand.
  16. Seems like. OHS still supports it's JV squad, but it seems like it is getting harder and harder to find local JV teams on our level to play. Budgets will kill yuh, I guess. So far our JV has tentative games against Notre Dame and Soddy. Course we don't have a JV coach at the moment so that could explain the lack of a schedule.
  17. Not surprisingly, someone did take the American Indian pov in a letter to the editor of the Tennessean http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar.../607230354/1053 Personally I think that regardless of the appropriateness of Indian mascots, you still need to find the culprits and remove thier opposable digits, making hammer and or tomahawk wielding an unlikely future activity. Be careful any school if you ever think of changing your mascot. I went to Syracuse University and in 1975 in a fit of PC'ness we went from a heroic, and honourable Indian warrior mascot, The Saltine Warrior, to an Orange (as in the fruit )

  19. I don't see them listed but the Ooltewah Lady Owls should give any team they compete against a fight this year. They don't plan to settle for less than a return to states. They lost 5 quality Seniors but have a returning core of 15 highly talented Seniors and Juniors. The boys and girls soccer coach, Curtis Blair, has moved from Ooltewah to an assistant coaching position at Baylor. This was only announced in mid-July, and was, of course, a shock to the girls. Regardless, all of his past Ooltewah players wish him the best in his new position. The school administration and booster club faithful pulled out all the stops though and acquired a top quality coach to lead both the boys and girls teams, in record time. Rick Adolph, formerly of Cleveland HS, has accepted the position and is looking forward to the challenges of soccer in AAA region 3. He will be taking the girls to TWC for an intense 3 session a day training camp at the end of July. We expect the survivors will be a team you had better take seriously.
