Who does this guy play for? Slim Jimmy isn't familiar with him.
He is a very good QB that plays for Smith County. You'll hear alot from him.
-
and thats exactly why this game has lost some of its luster for football fans in Smith County. Gordonsville should not, could not, and does not win very much at all versus Smith County. How exactly does that help the Owl program? Playing a lesser opponent and all. Go Big Owls!!!!!!!!! Run it up.
I'm pretty sure the game hasn't lost its luster for the fans. All of Smith County will be there. The intensity will also be there for everyone. I wouldn't say G-ville is a lesser opponent. Take Vanderbilt and UT, for instance. It doesn't how good or bad each team is. It is usually a good game. That's the way it is with SC and G-ville. It doesn't matter how good or bad each team is it is usually a good game.
That's helps both teams by playing with all you got, and it is usually a good experience from playing in a close game, gut check.
As far as G-ville not winning very much against SC, It's been 7 years since they won in the series, but before that, G-ville won 4 out of 5, or it may have been 5 out of 6. I'm not completely for sure. Just because a team wins more in a series doesn't mean they should stop playing. The competition is always there.
So all this talk about this game not helping the owl is hogwash.

well lets get this going next friday
who takes it
I believe Warren County will win and probably win big.
I saw Dekalb play in the jamboree, and a 1a team put up 21 points in the first quarter. It is still gonna be a few years before Coach Trapp gets the team on track.
-
The Tigers actually have to line up and play someone now. I feel like their preseason schedule may have been a tad weak. Only logical excuse for any resemblance of success. DeKalb Co. always tough
I don't see any change in the pattern of events in this series. The Owls romp again. Probably by 20 or so.
G-ville's preseason schedule was anything but weak. They scrimmaged Collinwood, Cascade, Moore Co., and all of them have a chance to win their region this year. Gordonsville also scrimmaged Davidson Academy, the defending DII state champion.
As for Dekalb County, they are better than last year, but they'll still probably finish last in their region. G-ville put up 21 points on them in the first quarter. I don't expect a romp by 20 or so. Whoever wins, I believe it will be by less than 7.

He had to have four stiches put in his left hand, and a splint on his pinky. But he will be OK
, and out on the field for the owls, next friday night
Glad to hear he'll be ready to play next week.

YOU MAY BE RIGHT WE DIDN'T LOOK TO GOOD AGAINST MACON COUNTY TONIGHT. WE HAVE SEVERAL HURT ALREADY AND STARTING SEVERAL FRESHMAN. IT MAY BE A TOUGH YEAR FOR THE YELLOWJACKET FAITHFUL.
I doesn't matter who trousdale has on the field, they play good football. They'll come around. Satterfield is one of the best coaches in the state in all classes.

All the best "true" 1A schools are having to compete in 2A! Have fun arguing it out!
What is your definition of "true". Just about every private school, in some way, recruits. everyone knows it. So admit it; they have an advantage. And, if they are so good, they should not have a problem in 2A. So when the private schools get hammered by teams like Alcoa, I don't want to hear any excuses about how they should be in 1A.
-
Friendship Christian is hands down the best team in 1a. they were the only team that give Trousdale a game, and they have almost everybody returning.
-
It's officially time to talk about the Tigers making that short trip to the other side of the river. How did G-ville look in the jamboree? Let's hear it Tigers.......How bad is it going to be????
Hey Cool-aid man. Gordonsville looked good. Dekalb was disappointing. G-ville put up 21 points in the first quarter against their starters. SC also played a great game. I don't know how bad it is going to be, but I do believe it will be a great game.
-
Alcoa is by far the best team in 2a, but Smith County could be a surpise. They played a very good game against 3a #1 Knoxville Catholic.
-
Way to go Macon County. Good luck in the rest of the season.
-
I wasn't at the game, but i listened to the fourth quarter on the radio. From the stats, it sounded like KC had a short field every time they scored except for once. This tells me that SC played a great game especially with their injuries. What kind of injury does Sanders have, I hate to see any senior get hurt and miss any games. Will he be able to play next week, and from what I hear, Harville is a capable backup. Good job SC.
-
I was wondering G-ville fans, if somoene knows, exactly what part of the team is Mark Medley going to be coaching? Is he gonna be running the offense, or defense, or what? Just wondering, with the addition of him, the tigers will be alot better this year I beleive.
I believe he is helping mainly with Quarterbacks and Defensive Backs, but is involved in all aspects.
-
Friendship is the team to beat in the state this year. Watertown is headed in the right direction. However, in that region, you accomplish something placing fourth.
-
Justin Smith from Gordonsville is a junior and a heck of an athlete. People should hear alot from him.
-
Was there any score kept during the white house scrimmage? Do ya'll think SC will show much in the jamboree?
-
I think a few of you people from Carthage are underestimating G-ville. Of course SC will have many advantages, but those will be no excuse at the end of the game. I believe it will be a good game, at least better than last year.
It ain't over til Big Reid and Chad D. get grape cool-aid dumped on em'.
-
recievers: Bass, Cannon, Hembrey, Harville gets looks at tight end, Davenport, maybe one or two more I'm leavin out, not sure
Lee Evans is the only returning lineman that i know of. Is there any others?
-
I know who SC's running backs are. Who are their receivers besides Bass, and I can't remember him playing offense much last year. But, I know he was awesome in the secondary. How many starting lineman are back?
-
Hey croz........do you still like that grape kool aid?
Upperman enrolled 4 brothers that moved there from Texas. One of them is a freshman but the other three could possibly play right away. I think Upperman will push their way into the playoffs in 4-2A.
That has nothing to do with this thread except we both play them. As always, I hope G-Town wins 14 in a row after Week 1. Especially now that the "Bigmouth Bass" is playing for the Tigers.
Who doesn't like grape cool-aid. I still owe Reid and Chad D. for that.
I read the article about Upperman, they should be improved.
trash talk is good but i don't see the need for belittling and name calling.

He definitly needs to not play as much defense as possible, for G-ville to win some ball games, not sayin he isn't good, I wouldn't want to risk him gettin hurt, and then have to bring in a young QB like last year I believe when ya'll played Trousdale. Not taking anything away from Chase Malone. I would definitly try to find some one else for his position on D, but thats just my thinking. I know SC wouldn't have Sanders back in the secondary, but I do realize G-ville doesn't have as many players so I understand how it may be hard.
I agree with you, but when you have such an athlete as Smith, it is very tempting to have him on the field as much as possible. Last year, he returned kickoffs.
-
I'm talkin about them coming to our place when G-ville played at home. Because they "wanted to see a better game". That was their words, not mine. Very seldom will one of our fans miss a home game.
Well, the home games that the G-ville fans decided that they didn't want to see was probably RBS or MJCS. Now, I, personally, would rather watch ya'll play TC, York, Westmoreland, and KC, than watch G-ville play RBS. I can't think of anybody else that we play other than those where it wouldn't be a good game. Everybody else on the schedule is usually a pretty good game.
-
If our O-line doesn't do alot better than the other night, they probably won't have a problem gettin to him. I would say it was just the weather though. It wasn't just the O-line though, everyone looked a little rough for the first part, but once the rain let up, they all looked a little looser.
It was probably a combination of the weather and it being the first scrimmage. Gordonsville had their first scrimmage the other night. I didn't get to go but from what I heard they did pretty well for it to be their first real scrimmage. They practiced with Macon Co. previously but I don't think they went full offense and defense. Justin Smith will be in the secondary this year, but with him playing QB, i don't know how much he'll stay in.
-
I know FC is good. I'm not "discounting" them at all. But them and TC are seriously the only teams in your region who could compete for the championship yearly in ours. Sorry.
What is your definition of close? Wait, you did say fairly close. I guess that is pretty accurate. And we have many people from other places that come to our games. As a matter of fact, we have lots from G-ville when they want to see a good game instead of what they would see at their own stadium. Sorry. I don't know what else to say.
I have also seen many people from Carthage come to G-ville games. just like G-ville fans going to SC games. They don't come to see a better game. Their team is either not playing or playing far away. That's why they go to the other teams games. As a matter of fact. I plan on going to watch Sc in Hartsville's Jamboree. You don't have to say sorry so much. you're not hurting my feelings.
