  1. I'll admit that Smith County accomplished alot in 3a, and I'm not trying to take anything away from their team now. However, when you talk about toughness of regions, I believe Smith County would've just finished third last year in Gordonsville's region, and this year, at best would be third. The same goes for Gordonsville if they competed in Smith County's region. Each region only has three teams that are consistently competitive every year. I know Cannon Co. has been improving over the last couple of years, but they lost their workhorses. I don't believe they'll be as competitive, and Upperman was young last year and they started a freshman QB, but so did Gordonsville against them. I don't see Upperman beating Gordonsville. In Gordonsville's region, Monterey has been improving theirselves, and I look to see good things from Watertown. Neither team can fuss about the other one's region. Like what was said in a privious post, Gordonsville came very close to beating Westmoreland, but it was still a loss. Truthfully, I'm glad we don't play York, because I really don't want to drive to Jamestown. Don't get me wrong, I wish the Owls luck this year. And on paper the Owls really should beat Gordonsville every year, but everyone enjoys the game and the rivalry. So, lets let the boys play ball. :thumb:

  2. I don't know if you mean weight room quality, or weight room performance. I would have conceded that i have no clue about performance and almost any fan is going to be impartial to their guys... but i would say that the clear winner in a quality weight room has got to be a private school somewhere. This might spring a debate on "privates have better equipment therefore are better and should not be allowed to play public schools". But i am just stating the obvious that with private school money they would clearly have a better weight room.

As far as performance, in region 4-1a, judging by the weight lifting competition, it would be Gordonsville, but there were players from FCS and Trousdale not lifting because they were involved in other sports. So, who knows for sure.

  3. Yeah I sure would. But we don't have one but I will take beating your blue bottoms every year instead. You know come play 2a ball or 3a ball for that matter. Cause you guys are guaranteed a playoff berth every year because you have RBS in your region. Good luck this year do good and have a nice day.

Talk about guaranteed a playoff berth. Smith County only has to win two games in a six team region that includes Cannon Co., Jackson Co., and Upperman. Maybe Gordonsville should move up to 2a. And how many teams in that region made it to the second round of the playoffs. hmmm, was it just one? How many in region 4-1a made it to the second round or further, and I believe that one of those teams in that weak 1a region beat the almighty 2a powerhouse Smith County. Furthermore, I would take RBS over Jackson Co. anyday of the week.

    Have a nice day!!!!! :)

  4. Who is crying? I am not and I am not getting worked up over this thing either. I just like getting you guys worked up and that is about it. No I don't need tissue, but come Friday night of the SC vs. G-ville game I would go and by 2 cases of them for your players for after the game. As for trash talking I am not going to hush I have to much fun doing it and ask anyone that knows who oldsc7 is they know I don't ever stop talking trash, but its all in fun though. No I will not be putting on pads game night, but I am still allowed to talk. Have a nice day. :D

    This guy is funny.LOL

  5. I have never once said that I would not recognize a good player, I have yet to see one though. Congrats on having an All State Punter whooo!!! Thats a great accomlishment. I remember the days when Dusty Ray was the man, Troy Clairborne, C.J. Babcock, Stephen Jackson and these boys you have now could not come close to them. I am so glad Jon Mason is a mean player, but what good is it to be mean if your not very good? It is good that all the rest are just role players every team needs them. I am glad you are Tiger fan whether they win or loose :D I think you mean lose but I am not a spelling teacher either.

Most of the players i mentioned started on both sides of the ball last year. I think they will surprise a lot of people. Especially when they think gordonsville has only 2 athletes.

  6. I'm from Gordonsville and we played LV in the first round last year. They only had 3 or4 seniors last year, and they were fast. I was wondering how they were going to look this year, and why are many people not picking them higher than 3rd or 4th. Not knowing much about the region, I would always pick SP 1st, but I would think LV could give them a run for their money.

  7. Jordan Davis is not that good of an athlete I know the kid I have seen him grow up he is not that good. Justin Sims can't hold a light to Lee Evans, and Jon Mason when did he become an athlete? Bryce Randolph is soft one hit and he is done. Who are these other kids? You are right we do talk alot trash and not have any influence on the outcome of the game, but two things though (1) its fun to get you cry babies over there fired up and (2) beat us and shut us up!!!

You call us cry babies, but who are the ones getting all worked up over this thing. Do you need a tissue or something. As for the trash talking, why don't you hush and let the players do the talking. It's funny because ya'll are still talking trash like you're playing, but I doubt you'll put on pads on game night.

  8. You are correct they do not have any except for those two and I don't know much about either one.

You all doubt that Gordonsville has any other athletes well I'll give you some names.

    Jordan Davis

    Nathan Williams

    Bryce Randolph

    Tyler Vaden

    Robert Halfacre

    Justin Sims

    Jon Mason

There is plenty more. I don't feel the need to type all night to prove a point. You all also talk alot of trash for people that don't have any influence on the outcome of the game.

  9. [

Smith and Alexander are not the only athletes in Gordonsville, and both schools have many weapons. I look forward to watching the game. I'm sure it won't be as one-sided as last year, but we'll have to wait and see. That's why they play the game.

  10. many kids do get burned out early, but maybe they wouldnt if the coaches werent their own dads. Maybe if these kids were taught fundamentals by some of the high school coaches who know what is going on, it would be different. The high schools need to have a football camp, like the basketball programs do. I know as popular as football is with the youth of this county, it would be a good money maker for the school who dirrected the camp, as well as helping kids to gain interest in the program.

i can't believe it. I agree with you. I believe their should be some sort of camp for all the kids in the county. I think both schools could do it together. As for Gordonsville, many of the coaches are not parents, and i believe all of the coaches do a good job with fundamentals.

  11. I have a brother who plays for SCMS and they practice 1 and a half to 2 hours a day, but not every day. And as for youth football preparing these kids, there are some football players on the SCHS high school team, who never played youth league football.

That can be good, because many good athletes get burned out on football when they play Jr. Pro. As for both of the middle school teams. Maybe both teams need coaches who are able to solely concentrate on middle school, instead of both high school and middle school. and as for the jr. pro leagues, I wish there was a way that Gordonsville could play Carthage. As a coach, It's odd not going against them, and not starting the rivalry until middle school.

  12. If this great youth league prepares these kids so much, then why do both middle school teams in the county struggle so much?

well, I know Gordonsville's Jr. High only gets to practice an hour a day when most middle school teams practice 2-3 hours after school. for what reason they're not allowed to practice after school, I don't know. I don't know about SCMS.

  13. So, as a summation, if it wasn't for Carthage tax dollars and Carthage kids, how could Gordansville even exist? Yes, I'm sure you have several kids with Carthage adresses on the youth team. They won't be playin there in another 5-10 years and you know it as well as I do. It's just like the post about the first youth league of the county being in G-ville. I remember that. Who did those Carthage kids play high school football for? They played for Smith County. Lots of these parents don't want a 10, 11, 12 game season and drives as far as York for youth football. I can't say that I blame them. Also, you may correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that the band is asked to be in your parade and not the other way around. So, you guys can keep "hollerin" about next year and... in 4 years or... blah or blah or blah.

Some people in Carthage said some rude things to the kids and the parents during the road block, and they have just as much right to be there as anyone else. And it doesn't matter about where they play high school ball. It was for kids to be able to play football, and if it wasn't for both youth leagues in the county, the kids wouldn't be as well prepared for high school football. To sum it up Carthage citizens have no right to kick about the GYFL taking up money in Carthage.

  14. Man that is strong, i mean strong! i wish we had someone who could lift that much, but we are just so small, i dunno what we are gonna do? But if they just weigh 160 or 170, then that means our linebackers and lineman should be able to tackle them wouldnt u think? I'd say Lee Lee Evans will put Alexander and Smith right on their BACK! along with some of the rest of our defenders. And as for oldsc7 losing to you guys, i dont remember the owls ever losing to ya'll while he played.

Somebody asked for facts about the weight lifting competition, so i gave them some. As for oldsc7, i thought he was someone else. Anyway, I'm not going to say Gordonsville will beat Carthage, but I would like to see it happen. We have some strong guys for their size that started last year. I think it will be a much better game. plus they have to catch alexander and smith before they can put them on their back.

  15. I don't believe it about the gville kid I want names, who is this kid I don't believe that mess until I see it or hear about it from a good source.

Travis Alexander Benched 335 and Justin Smith benched 260 in the 160 or 170 pound weight class. I also believe Alexander cleaned 300. I can't remember for sure but I was there, and the only reason Smith didn't get more in bench was because he jumped from 260 to 300

  16. Sure they would...cause there are some Gordansvile kids on the Carthage teams....

As a coach in the GYFL, I know for a FACT that there are 25 kids with carthage addresses playing in Gordonsville. I'm pretty certain that groups from SCHS,like the band, have had road blocks in Gordonsville, and they are in the Gordonsville Christmas parade every year. Also, when there are road blocks in Carthage, How many people from Gordonsville drive through there. Another point is that tax dollars from the whole county support those roads. Just remember all you uptight Carthage folks, that road road block was supporting kids playing football. Also, there is only one Gordonsville kid on the Carthage teams.

  17. Turney Ford is a good one back in the day. Mark Medley is the only legit one besides Coach Ford cause he was a head coach. Winfree and Cowan well LC and Riverdale more than likely would have won without them. Dillard and Wills who cares.

if oldsc7 is who i think he is. he says who cares about wills because wills coached against him, and i believe oldsc7 lost three times against gordonsville in high school.
