  1. Red Bank may be the best team in Chatt., and are a legitimate state title contender. They should dominate 4-4A, followed by Rhea Co, Cleveland and toss a coin between Brainerd, Central, Hixson giving the edge to Brainerd.
  2. this game was a clear example of one ref trying to grab the spotlight. i believe he called all 4 techs, called a lame 5th foul on jurick, to prove a point i guess??? when you see 30 fouls called, and he calls 25, somethings wrong. aside from his grandstanding, the game was entertaining to say the least. i'm not crazy about all the show boating, but the well's kid was not going to be denied. even so, howard took it to the wire. great game!
  3. a 6'10'' kid in this area with decent basketball skills should dominate every game. don't see this out of either. right now, both appear to be wasting the physical size they've been blessed with. anybody remember james williams from howard in the late '70's. he was dominant!
  4. 1. Red Bank 2. Temple 3. Howard 4. Brainerd 5. Tyner 6. CCS 7. East Ridge 8. Hixson 9. McCallie 10. Central RB's pretty solid. After that, I'd say 2-10 is a toss up, depending on who shows up that night.
  5. It's crap. Coaches and school admins need to put their foot down and use some better judgement and a little common sense. Listening to that crap on personal music players is one thing,(bad judgement) but exposing grandparents, aunts/uncles, parents, and children to it is just plain bad judgement....PERIOD!
  6. Once the season starts, practice takes on more of a "fine tuning" nature as we prepare our varsity for their next opponent. As a result, jv'rs and varsity players that seldom see significant varsity playing time, sometimes lose some of their dedicated instruction and attention. Jv games offer these young and often inexperienced athletes the opportunity to practice in a live contest. We like to see our kids win all games.........varsity and jv, but our primary focus is our varsity squad, so we'd never jeapordize their opportunity for a win by playing "key" varsity players fresh-sr in a jv contest. Soph/fresh athletes that dress varsity but seldom if ever play, will play a significant amt of jv as we try to blend true jv'rs in with them to allow them to start gaining experience playing at a new level of competition. Our desire is, that as their jv season progresses, things we stress with our varsity, start to click a little for them as we prepare them for coming seasons. For us, jv is limited to freshmen and sophs only. With that said, we place reasonable, but high expectations on our jv program. It's not a ymca or upward league where everybody is guaranteed playing time for mom and dad. Your performance in practice throughout the week positions you for pt come jv game time....
