  1. I want everyone to know that I played soccer for many years at a very high level and it is amazing to me that some people post comments on here with an attitude. Some people have never played the sport and do not understand what happens on the field. I hope everyone posting on this issue understands and knows that the IHS player is back on the field and playing this season in high school and club. Yes, he might have gone through some emotional stress from the injury but obviously he is well enough to be back on the field. This is where I lose compassion for the issue. If the player's career was over, maybe, but not sidelined for a few months. It is a joke! There is a lot of "history" behind this case and the aggressors of the issue. Just let this go to rest and stop the mess around a great game.
  2. Well whether or not there have been undefeated teams since our team, I never heard any recognition for them like we got. My senior year, we had 9 players on our team from MFC 82 and 2 from MFC 83. We were really solid. I am going to keep my name out of all of this but you can do some research. I lead the team in goals our senior year and in the state tournament. I finished second in the Memphis BOP behind Grant. Sadly enough, Grant went to college and totally bombed out. He tried to come to CBU to play with me, Nick Chantara, and Michael Vogel but could not cut it there either. He was a lot of fun to play with, just like the whole team was. Watching some of our highlight tapes can be quite fun! Our club team did not go in to the Knoxville game in travel state with a cockiness because we had not beaten that team in a while. They just beat us off the field that day too. I appreciate all the nice words as I know all of my teammates do as well. If Bearden did go undefeated, congrats to them! Just never heard about it which should say a lot because I know our Houston teams were all over the news and papers! Good luck to everyone this season.
  3. I am not sure when CBHS and Houston stopped playing. I am not sure why they wouldn't play each other. We played each year that I was in school at Houston but CBHS never came close. Our team was very good our junior and even better our senior year. The club issue is something else. We were a bunch of kids from West TN that played against a bunch of kids from East TN. They hammered us in the state club finals and there is nothing else you can say. We were fortunate enough to play together in high school and keep our chemistry. The following year as U19's we all played together in Regionals and advanced out of our bracket (but nothing more). We have all gotten together over the years at soccer events and outings put on across the state and we talk about the past. It is always good for a laugh! We always talk about our Houston team like the Dolphins in the NFL. Every year we hear that there was no undefeated team, we are like "Another year!" It is fun to hold a record for 6 years.
  4. Ridgeway never went undefeated (well at least not from 1996-2000). I know we beat them each year I was in school (Houston).
  5. I played for the 2 time National Champs in 1999 and 2000 with Houston High School. Yes, we were ranked number 1 and there was no game that made us the champion but we were the only undefeated team in 2000 and we were the last AAA team to go undefeated in the state of TN. We proved that we deserved all the distinction winning the state semifinals 6-2 over an undefeated Bearden team and winning the finals 5-0. 1999: We did have 1 loss but we went to a tournament over Spring Break where we played teams from GA and SC which ended up in the top 10 in the ending national poll. We won 53 straight games and if you want to argue that it was not enough to be determined the national champions, you are out of your minds. There will never be a national championship tournament because of high school budgets and expenditures so you have to take what you can get.
  6. I was lucky enough to be at this "preseason" game between Page and IHS last year. I have read all of the posts and think it is ridiculous that this is still even an issue. The play was a 50/50 ball in the midfield. The player that was injured was chasing a blind ball and ran right into the center back for Page. Yes, there were injuries to the IHS player, but it was not done on purpose. How can someone "assume" where a soccer ball will be. It is not like football where a QB will throw a specific pass pattern and the wide receiver is guaranteed to be in a specific spot on the field. It just happened!! Is someone allowed to sue another player if they head butt each other going for header off a corner kick? Absolutely not!! It is part of the game. I have heard the allegations about a "closed fist" and "intent to injury" but with the boys having no previous history, why would there be intent? Also, the coach for Page is a great guy and would never send a player out to injury some other player. That is ridiculous to think of in this situation!! Anyways, I just wanted to give you some of my "close" knowledge to the situation. There were only 2 refs at the match as "most" WCS games only have 2 refs. The 2 man system is ridiculous because there is no right to authority. One ref looks at the other and wants him to call something or the ref from 50 yards away calls a foul. Maybe this will teach Williamson County to put 3 refs on every game and have 1 center that mans the flow of play! When I was in high school and played, we always had 3 refs. This should just go away as the coach, player, and schools have all moved on.
  7. Heather is a decent talent. She was supposed to come to Independence but her family bought a house in Spring Hill's zone. Independence and Spring Hill played during the season, IHS winning 5-1, and Heather was very inaffective. She didnt even score the Spring Hill goal. Yes, she is a quick player with size but you are comparing her in games against Page, Fairview, and Forrest when real players in real districts play Franklin, Bearden, Houston, etc. It is nothing against Heather. Playing for TNFC will prove how good she really is, but you cannot compare talent at Spring Hill to talent at a real soccer school. Who are you kidding!?!?
  8. Thank you for helping out. What schools did you email the invite to? We would like to follow up with them if you could provide us with some information. We have already had Father Ryan apply.
  9. Just wanted to move the post back up towards the top of the board this weekend. We are still looking for a few teams to fill some spots. This will be a very competitive tournament with four guaranteed games.
  10. Independence High School would like to announce the First Annual Eagle Invitational scheduled for March 16-18, 2007. This tournament will be a 5 team round robin event guaranteeing 4 games for each team. The games will be held on Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday. The tournament will be based on a 10 point system. Trophies will be provided for 1st and 2nd place teams. All teams are welcome to apply (AAA, A-AA, D2). IHS has two new fields that will be showcased at this tournament. One field has brand new lights and will host all of the night games. If your team is interested in participating, please email Coach Phillips at joshp1@wcs.edu. We know every team is trying to finalize their Spring schedule so please respond ASAP if you are interested.
  11. Here is my TOP 15... Oak Ridge Franklin Bearden Brentwood Collierville Siegel Hendersonville Houston Farragut Independence Greeneville White Station Ooltewah Tullahoma Dobyns-Bennett Yes I know Ooltewah beat Indepedence but that was their first and only win of the season. They have had tough losses to good competition but that does not put them ahead of Independence. I was not and did not challenge the guy that does the site. I cannot believe that this guy has watched 100 teams in the state to know what every team possess. It is more of a score board / chat (post) ranking system. If people honestly went on here and posted true facts than he would have a better understanding for his rankings.
  12. It is not the "should have" game. I gave Bearden the credit they were do this weekend and the credit that they should receive all year. I will not give Centennial credit as Independence has already defeated them and Anna Fisher played in the game. Centennial's problem is not with the players, it all lies in the coaching!! I am not discrediting the body behind this site but simply asking him to look at the teams!! Results are one thing but to drop Independence back to 15th, it is almost evidence that he solely moved them up to 7th because of the Centennial victory. Teams change from year to year and Centennial just does not have the stuff this year. This team will be around for the rest of the season and just needs its justification especially since so many people actually look at this site for validity. New teams (Independence - third year school) might not get the "credit" like the Franklin's, Brentwood's, Houston's, or Bearden's that have been around the lime-light for 10-20 years. I bet you Bearden would not have fallen 8 spots if they had dropped the game against Independence.
  13. Independence deserves to have dropped out of the top 10 this weekend because of their loss to Ooltewah. Needless to say, I think you are just watching scores without knowing how the teams and games really go. Independence played and dominated the game against Ooltewah, just got unlucky. Science Hill is not a good team. They got hammered by Bearden which should show the level that they are at (especially if you want to compare them to Independence). Independence might still end up with a few more losses this season (Brentwood and Franklin) but look at the caliber of those teams. Independence is a top 10 team in the AAA division this year. If Independence would have gotten the result against Bearden on Friday night, they would have done the same thing to Science Hill and CCS. Bearden only conceded one goal all weekend and hammered there other two opponents. Think about the actual teams when you make these rankings!
  14. Yes the Independence girls did get beat this morning 1-0. It was a tough bounce back game after the hard fought battle with Bearden Friday night. The Bearden game was very physical and even the whole 80 minutes. The game looked to be going to the sudden death shootout but Bearden snuck home a goal with 2 minutes remaining. Independence totally dominated their first game this morning outshoting Ooltewah 19 to 3. Ooltewah got loose on a breakaway with 5 minutes left and finished. Ooltewah's GK did well to make plenty of saves and keep the score at 0-0 and eventually allow them to spring one chance. Independence's third game was one that they did not need to play in. They definately deserved to play in the game against Tullahoma and the result showed it. Independence beat Anderson County 10-1. Independence is growing with every competitive game. This is a young team that is learning how to play in pressure situations. Once they get a few of the "wins" on their side, they will be tough to beat. That was already shown last week at Centennial. The girls play Spring Hill and Hillwood (I think) this week so they should be good and ready (rested) for Brentwood on 9/19. Do not be surprised if Independence goes to Brentwood and plays them tough!!
  15. Charlotte Clayton is eligible for the season and IHS beat Centennial tonight 2-0. YES, Anna Fisher did play for 70 of the 80 minutes. She was obviously hampered by an injury but the Eagles had her shut down. The Eagles are 3 bad minutes away (against Brentwood Academy) from being 4-0 for the first time in school history! Look out for more to come from this group of girls. They believe in themselves!
