  1. Antioch was a big disappointment after reading all the posts. I was hoping to see a run and gun game last night by both teams and Siegel did not disappoint but Antioch was anemic. After watching both Siegel and Ridgeway I was not impressed with Ridgeway. I think Siegel matches up well and should make it to the finals. Go 7AAA.
  2. Is there really a need to be so negative. Sparta had an excellent team this year and really loaded with talent. They were loaded with shooters but maybe not as athletic as some, but their kids played smart. They had a real chance to make it to state but they evidently did not match up well with RB. It really is about the match ups. Who knows what would have happened if WC had won the region game and Siegel had traveled to RB. It was a crazy year in 7AAA but let's celebrate it instead of putting down the other teams. I can't remember a year when it was this exciting and not a boring and predictable year with one or two teams beating up on everyone else. Cookeville beat Siegel twice but WC beat Siegel 3 times. WC beat Cookeville both times. Blackman split with Cookeville during the regular season but Siegel beat Blackman both times. Blackman split with WC and played them close in the tournament. (Before anyone from Sparta wants to talk about how bad the refs were yes you had 32 fouls at Blackman with probably 7 or 8 being intentional fouls. You had 22 when you played Blackman at Lebanon and did not have to intentionally foul, but yet there was no one on here complaining about the fouls). Who could have predicted how well Oakland was this year. They split with Siegel and WC during the regular season. I think the fact they had several first year starters hurt them during tournament time, but I was really impressed with their year. Lebanon was able to get wins against WC and Oakland but yet Warren County got their only win against Lebanon. And what about Warren County, it was one of the best teams they have had in a while and they scared a lot of teams. So, lets celebrate the players and the plays they made this year and wish them all well. I know I am going to miss Alex at Blackman, the kid gave us a lot of thrills over the years and he will really be missed with his game changing play. I will miss Cutter at Siegel and his passion for the game but not his whinning. Epps at Oakland and his defense, Paul at Blackman for his hustle, and Greene, Delaney and Brown for their excellent shooting. Good luck to Siegel in the state I know there will be a lot of 7AAA fans there pulling for you.
  3. You might not want to goad the Siegel Nation. When the school opened they came out with a lot of pride and noise and showed the rest of us in 7AAA how it was done. Everyone had large crowds coming out but no one was as organized or vocal as Siegel those first 3 years. They also had a lot to cheer about and everyone in the district has raised their standards. WC has a large cheering section, and your students do a good job. Your parents are the problem. When parents stand up and cheer like they did when Green knocked Alex against the bleachers at Blackman they should all be ashamed. It was a black mark against Sparta and their supporters. Alex could have been injured badly and not one parent, poster, coach or player cared.
  4. Nice of you to compliment them on their good year. /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> Epps had a great season and so did Kendal. Both of them were big parts of a team that finished 2nd in the district when everyone thought they would have a down year. I was very impressed with both when they played Blackman and one game does not define a season. I am sure they were both a little frustrated because they are competitors, but they need to look at the whole season. I think Oakland played tired in the tournament and I am sure they probably were because they did not have a lot of depth. Just like Blackman. Their last game was one of their worst but you can't define Alex's season by the last game he played. Shelbyville kept two people on him and were not going to let him have a look at the basket, but had it not been for Alex Blackman would not have finished 4th in the district. I think both teams can be very proud of their accomplishments because they did not have the talent of the other two top teams and some of the teams that finished lower in the district. Good luck to WC and Siegel tonight and heading into the sub-state. It would be great to see both of you advance to State.
  5. Alex didn't get any looks. The Shelbyville coach knows Alex and was also scouting at the WC game at Blackman. He face guarded Alex all night and when Alex did touch the ball he was double teamed. He left Smith and Crutchfield open knowing they are not shooters and they were not able to score. Alex played hard as always and came down with about 6 or 7 rebounds and probably had 4 or 5 assists. Paul was able to score inside for a time until they adjusted. It was basically the same problem they have had all year but a gamble by the Shelbyville coach that worked out for him. Hate to see Alex's season end we really enjoyed watching him play. Good luck to Alex and Paul. Fine young men who represented BHS well.
  6. It was a rough game. Both teams believe in defense and it always shows in the score. The game was just not going well for either team but I thought both teams worked hard. Sometimes you just don't get the breaks. It was a struggle but in the end Oakland pulled it out. In all my years of watching basketball I don't think I have seen another kid take as many charges as Alex. He is fearless. You would think for someone his size he would be stepping out of the way.
  7. As much as it pains me, I can't go with my heart. I will have to pick Oakland over the Blaze. Hopefully, the Blaze will prove me wrong. I will take Siegel over WC in the championship.
  8. Can't speak for the coach. At least he walks through the line and shakes hands. I'm just guessing, but I would say it is probably the way WC players and fans acted at Blackman. I don't think he was to happy with how rough the players were when fouling Alex and your coach did not put a stop to it. Personally, I think the classless fans were the worst.
  9. It is good to see someone besides a Blackman poster give props to Alex. Great kid and really deserves some praise. I hope he gets praise from his coach in the locker room because he doesn't get any during the game. I would think as hard as the team has played Turnham would be trying to praise them and lift them up during the game, instead all I have seen is him constantly berating them. Give them some props coach. They are already over achievers and they played White County a heck of a game Saturday night.
  10. Congratulations Alex! You have made Blackman proud. Your hard work has paid off and we are glad to see you rewarded for your effort.
  11. We could tell they weren't the same team we played earlier in the year. I thought it was very classy of Turnham to set Alex and Paul in the 4th. Hope your players are better by tournament time.
  12. I didn't see any crying in the post just some facts and some compliments to Siegel from a Blackman poster. Opinions about how their team played is why this board is here for comments and interaction. Not for a classless and immature response like yours.
  13. Sounded horrible, hope he is feeling better by Friday.
  14. They played 5 quarters and wiped the score off at the beginning of each quarter. I think Blackman won about 3 of them. Neither team looked very good. Out of sync with sloppy passes. Neither Blackman or LaVergne seem to have an inside game. Turnham runs his players in and out so much you can't tell what they have. But, that is why you scrimmage. Let's just hope there is a lot of improvement before next week.
  15. Turnham has a system and for the most part has been successful. Alex's role has been to stand outside and wait for the play to develop and if the other shots are not open they go to Alex. You can't argue with success but it stops a player from showing what he can do. It takes a disciplined individual and a team player. Alex has always done more than shoot the 3 but has received very little credit from the posters. He has great court vision, plays good defense and gives it everything he has. Anyone who watches Alex every game knows what he can do and hopefully Turnham will turn him loose. Last year he drew a lot of double teams and face guarding and I expect this year he will see even more.
