  1. it was second down. if they had taken a knee they would have given page the ball back with about 30 seconds left (not ideal because they could kick a field goal and win), so they wanted another first down. ideally, tobias should have gotten the first down and then slid down so we could finish by taking a knee and never give them the ball back. i'm sure the coaches didn't go over with tobias that he shouldn't score... they probably weren't expecting a 40yd burst on a defense that had been tough all night.
  2. you can't stop rogers, you can only hope to contain him. #44 for lipscomb is the primary hot head, but he is also a pretty good football player. bo will need to play more defense to help slow the mustangs down. the strength of the bobcats this year is in their offensive line. motts, timms, bass, dienye, strickland, norwood, and christopher need to impose their will on the always tough mustand defense. let's go bobcats!
  3. i think it is an easy argument that neel is more valuable to page than bo is to giles county. both have talented supporting casts around them, but bo's is called on more to help carry the load. all you have to do is look at the season stats (you can see both teams stats on unapproved website). bo has basically passed for 1,000yds and rushed for 1,000 yds. neel has done about the same thing... a few hundred yards less. but the difference is in what percentage of the offense their yards account for. neel is the leading rusher in terms of yards, carries, and touchdowns for his team. he has 50 more carries than their runningback and twice as many yards (who is very good in his own right and actually averaging more per carry). giles county's main ball carrier, tobias houston, has 60 more carries, 300 more yards, and twice the number of touchdowns as bo. also, neel plays defense all the time. bo is only in on passing situations.
  4. rion is a big advantage for page. his big kickoffs make teams go 80yds and his strong makes page a scoring threat when they cross the 50yd line. i think page's qb, #9 blake neal, is the key to the game. he is the teams leading rusher and passer and one of their best defensive players. if he has a good game on both sides of the ball... page will win. i also think #23 wisdom will be important. he has proven to be a difference maker on defense and is electric when he gets the ball on offense. i really don't think he gets used enough on the offensive side of the ball.
  5. there offensive line was very good. if they didn't turn the ball over in the second half, it might have been different.
  6. the offense at marshall county has been surprising the last couple of years. more surprising than what they did this year was how they had donta hightower last year and rarley ever got him the ball on offense... we were proud they didn't use him... he is a beast (starting as a true freshmen for alabama at linebacker)
  7. no doubt the rematch should be even closer than the regular season match-up. both teams have talented backs, but i think giles' offensive and defensive lineman will win their battles up front. motts, timms, strickland, bass, norwood, dienye, the other dienye, boykins, etc...
  8. nice to get the win over marshall county for the third year in a row! marshall county, marshall county, they .... well you know the rest!
  9. marshall county wins. despite losing their last two games, they are still a good team that lexington shouldn't take lightly.
  10. shouldn't totally discount region 6. southside is the 1 seed because they are a pretty good team. but, i also think page is a good team. they will be prepared. if turnovers and penalties are equal... i like the patriots in an upset!
  11. i think you only set yourself up for failure if you look past an opponent. while region 5 has a history of being competitive and region 6 has not done as well, giles county only has to look at their match-up with the 3 seed from region 6 last year (bolivar) to stay focused on their first round game. it's the playoffs now... every team's record is 0-0. i do think giles should win this game. the o-line lead by motts, norwood, bass, strickland, and dienye are very good. when you add in the blocking of tight ends christopher and timms... you have an experienced, physical bunch of guys up front. now add to that the fact that the ball carriers tobias houston, cory houston, josh smith, and the qb himself mr. wallace are all dynamic... giles county always puts up monster yards on the ground! i expect the defense to step up and play better this week. it seems like they match up okay with mcnairy central's strengths.
  12. could be the last game in the brickyard as we know it... I would like to see those seniors: Motts, Campbell, Newton, Timms, etc... step up and keep that from happening. Marshall County, Marshall County...
  13. creekwood has the nicest facilities and uniforms of any school in region 5... very cool
  14. bitter rivalry here. both teams are good and both teams will want to win it bad. no motivation needed in this one. i think this one will be close throughout but the bobcats will put it out in the end.
  15. looks like it's going to be a wet one! the last time we went to creekwood we were their homecoming... is that true again this year? really nice school and facilities, baseball field, track, wrestling room... very nice
  16. marshall county has a shot especially if rogers doesn't play. i expect david lipscomb's defense will come out with something to prove... that will be tough on marshall county, but braden is a playmaker. MC 28 - 21 without rogers DL 35 - 14 with rogers
  17. the bobcats should win, but we had trouble there a couple years ago when should have won too. i say we pull it off but it might be close
  18. i think giles county showed that david lipscomb is beatable this year. also, if rogers really did break his collar bone then i don't see them making it to the blue cross bowl.
  19. spring hill was better this year than last year... they are moving in the right direction
  20. i think it is clear that the gap between david lipscomb and the rest of the region is narrowing. they were still the better team friday night as the score indicates, but they might not be on another night. the giles county offensive line dominated the game. motts, norwood, strickland, bass, dienye and christopher made all other hogies proud. tobias and bo were very tough running the ball. i have never seen a david lipscomb defense get pushed around like that. and to speak to an earlier post that dl doesn't have much size on defense... i don't consider the 6'5 hudson kid small. yes, the other two d-line man are smaller, but then behind them you have 4 linebackers that are all 6'3 and over 200lbs. no body else in the region has linebackers like that! also, the secondary is all 6' or better with speed... so you can go cry to somebody else about your undersized defense. and they are all seniors. they got pushed around by a giles county offense that is primarily juniors! our defense still has a ways to go. i know we don't have any individuals that are on rogers level, but we have got to play better than we did friday night. the defense has to step it up. i also think marshall county has a real shot at knocking off david lipscomb especially if rogers is out... and the game at marshall county...
  21. bulldog69, I don't think past match-ups mater at all. You have a new coaching staff just like we do. You have a good coaching staff just like we do. It should be a good game.
  22. Coach O'Connor has turned Giles County into a winner. We appreciate all you have done OC!
