  1. Camden 32, Stewart county 6 Lewis county-24, Loretto 7 Riverside 14, Richland 10 Waverly 21, HOuston county 14 Adamsville 21, Hardin coutny 20- If cardinals can get rid of stupid mistakes. FYI Hardin county is a 4a team that is down in talent this year, but does have some kids that can run and catch the football very well. There rushing attack leaves alittle to be desired.
  2. Nobody better be overlooking anyone in this region. There are a lot of teams that are on the rise and getting stronger. As for Houston Cty and Adamsville. It was a dominant performance by the Cardinal Defense. They only allowed 92 yards of offense and 45 of that was on one big play. The cardinals had 230 yards of offense and should have had around 400 yards, but stupid mistakes and penalties kept them from making any hay. I heard the kids say that they were looking past Houston County because they beat them last year. It almost cost them a win. #22 had a good look at the field goal but pulled it ever so slightly hitting the upright. A couple of inches to the right and that ball goes in- Game over. Tigers better be ready or it could be close. tigers -24 irish- 17
  3. I hate to see the bobcats go down, but i told you it was coming. Mcnairy just did not impress me against Adamsville the first game. I hope they fared ok as it comes to injuries.
  4. Adamsville dominated this game everywhere but the score board. I do not think a 45 yard pass play to a wide open receiver falls into the category of crack backs. There was one heck of a peel off block by one of the lineman as the qb scrambled though. Adamsville overcame 120 yards in penalties. It seemed everyrtime they had a big play the yellow hanky would fall. The defense held Houston county to less than 100 yards of total offense with 45 or so of that in one play. Great job Coach Gray and staff on never letting the guys quit. JS was much of a man tonight. He owned the third and fourth quaters. 10-12 solo tackles and 6-8 assists. He was never blocked. Lets' get ready for Hardin County next week.
  5. There never was a whistle and then they were going to reset the ball with the kid still on the field with the ball. I do not think the refs even knew what was going on. They also gave the bobcats 4 time outs in the first half and allowed an engaged tackle to be cut blocked all night long. NOt that these plays made any difference on the outcome. I just like talking about the refs.
  6. Riverside 14 Loretto -17 Could just as easy be flipped with this match up. Depends on which Rverside team shows up.
  7. A'ville never got on track this week @ MCnairy Central. I look for an improved team to take the field this friday night when we roll into town @ houston cty. I think the train will get rolling this week as we will have the big bull dozer back after serving a 1 game suspension that was do to some b.s. last year at richland. (Another Story Another thread). Card fans get ready to travel home happy as Cardinals --26 Fighting Irish --12
  8. Since when did Browder become the QB for JV. If you say so on the Tailback. If the bobcats where so good the score should have been 60- 0. I mean they spotted you 24 points on direct turnovers. Tak away your "JV" bomb by Browder and The core is only 14-8. I say agian I give the bobcats all of the credit in the world for winning the game, but if they play like that next week they could get beat by 3 td. I do wish The bobcats a good season, but they have a lot of work.
  9. That is the point I was making. Adamsville was very bad in its first game under the new coaching staff. Take away the mental mistakes and the score is closer to 24- 8. Both teams have alot to improve on in the coming weeks if they want to be competitive.
  10. Do not read too much into Adamsville's loss to McNairy. They scored one td on an interception thrown from inside the one yard line ( bad decision ). On td came when a freshman fumbled the kick off return trying to do to much. Two scores cam when in the fourth when Adamsville had put in 9 freshmen on defense to gain some experience. I am not saying that we will be a factor, but you do not want to overlook us either. This program will rise under the new leadership.
  11. I watched McNairy play this friday night and I feel they have a long season ahead of them. I think they will get beat by Southside, Fayette-Ware, Liberty, Lexington, & possibly Bolivar. They did not show me a whole lot this week against Adamsville. Two of their scores came when A'ville had their freshmen defense on the field in the fourth quarter. Anyone looks dominant when you turn the ball over five times. I give them their credit they won this battle, but their season is a long way from over. I heard that the big tailback was already dinged up and he will not last through the likes of southside and fw. Just my honest opinion.
  12. I was mistaken on the total number of seniors. I was getting at the fact that there is only 5 or 6 that have had significant playing time over their careers. We have some first year players as well as first year starters. I am ready to get this started I hope we build off of every game and take it to some teams and leave them going WOW! GO CARDS!!!
  13. The kids have realy responded to the new coaching staff. We will be a very young team as we have about 5-6 seniors and only 5 juniors. The future looks bright but time will tell. I think the kids will be winners if they just do not lay down. Then a cramp here and smack there and the bobcats could be in for a fight. I was once told if you can not get up for Mcnairy then you never will get up. Good luck to both teams this year! My prediction is that the cardinals just might surprise some folks.
  14. Coach Gray and his staff might have arrived at Adamsville at the right time. This squad has about 12 freshmen that are very atheletic. Several good key players at rb and defense. The 8th grade class is loaded with a bunch of good atheletes as well. We might even see the qb in varsity actin before the year is up. He has a load of potential. Our sophomore bunch is small in number, but has some good prospects. We need to have a decent season in order to get our numbers back out to play. It is hard to compete when you only have 9-10 total seniors and juniors. We probably will not be the best team in the region this year, but do not think for one minute these boys will lay down for you. They are well coached and in shape. We just need to keep the injury bug away. GO RED RAGE!!!
  15. I think The region will be as follows: Lewis County camden riverside richland Adamsville will play at Chester coutny with Riverside. We play Chester county in the last game. number 4 slot could be up for grabs in this region. That is why we play the games. Good luck to everyone in region.
  16. I watched the cardinals last night against perry county, and I saw some good things. I also saw a lot of issues that coach gray and his staff will have to work out. Defensively we did not give up a score until the second and thrid strings were in. (mostly freshmen). Offensively we moved the ball well, but have got to find some glue for our hands. too many fumbles. we still have not secured a qb and no one stepped up to take it last night. overall, i think we will be a decent team that will surprise a lot of people. Cardinal fans, we need to be patient as these boys are trying to develop a proud program again. I think it will take a couple of years for us to really turn some heads. Who knows we might start some eigth graders and freshmen and sophomores just to prpeare for that time. We have talent just not a lot of depth. Regardless these boys have worked hard all summer long so come out and suport them.
  17. Just a little clarification. Three of those scores were on our junior varsity defense. Varsity action ended at 2-1. According to the newspaper reports i saw.
  18. A'ville scrimmaged Bolivar and Middleton last week. We scored at will on Middleton and was competitive with Bolivar. We do not have much depth and might go 0-10, but we are going to be a better team than we were last year. Coach Gray has a lot of building to get this program back up, but he is working hard on doing so. The talent pool seems to be filling up starting withthis freshman class as there are several good groups of good athletic talent stacked in the waiting. My prediction this year is 4-6, but a fumble here and a pick there and it could be 6-4. I think anyone that believes we will be as bad as last year when we were just manhandled in the second half will be very surprised. That is my opinion and we will just have to see.
