  9. Congratulations to the Lady Cats of Lawrence County, Tennessee for winning the 8th Annual Lady Warrior Southern Classic with a 4 and 0 record. Allen County, Kentucky finishes 2nd in the "standings" which are located on our website at http://www.riverdalesoftball.com Special thanks to the host schools who provided top notch facilities to 43 teams from 6 states and 114 games played with only 8 games rained out(9:00 AM Saturday session). Our out-of-state visitors were particularly impressed with the quality of the competition AND fields in the middle Tennessee area. Kudos all! Plans for the 2011 Classic have already begun.......
  10. The 9:00 AM games are CANCELLED today for the Lady Warrior Southern Classic. Most fields were tarped last night, so the rest of the day's schedule looks probable. 14. I thank you for the compliment, but I agree with your selections(of course the order is subjective). LC/CC/WC/Cookeville are really nice and I have been fortunate to play on them several times. I like our place and we have improved in the last 3 years. I am guessing that you have not been here since our "hitting area" became an indoor hitting facility AND we added a roadway to the building to open up some parking. But......unless I miss my guess, I am thinking that you are on our schedule this year and should pay us a visit soon......... /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Comment?
  15. Oops Mr. Noitall............looks like your batting average is gonna fall........We DO have sump pumps in each dugout. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> In fact, the dugouts were built with sump pumps. If you have visited us, we have hidden the sump pump in the visitors dugout in the equipment room. Sorry, but I had to correct you..... Dennis Weaver Riverdale softball

    Cat Hosfield

To all folks who have been so great to call, text message and post their comments on this forum, I want to say thanks from the folks at Riverdale. Cat is an amazing young lady and remains the heartbeat of our team. While she will never compete for Riverdale again, her leadership and competitive spirit will live on with us for years to come. Just some more info on her injury, she had just singled to right and broke for second when the throw went through the cut-off to the plate. As she rolls into 2nd, she heard Breeden say "Get down" to the runner going home. As always, she did what her coach asked and started a slide. When she saw there was not a play at 2nd, she tried to stop her slide and "go in standing up." She hung a cleat. A tragic outcome indeed. I have been fortunate to coach a young lady like Cat the last four years. People hear about her numbers and all that, but that is less than 10% of what makes her special. Cat is one of the most fierce competitors I have ever known. She works as hard as ANYONE I have ever coached. She has a heart bigger than her legend. When we arrived at Forest High School(Ocala) on Friday and worked out, she had a great workout and had lain down in the shade as the JV team warmed up for their game. Forest has a team manager with autism who carries around an autograph book. He had read about Cat online and wanted to meet her. Cat spent 5 minutes with "James" talking to him and signing his book and even hugged this guy. Now Cat will never see James again, and spending time with someone that others might ridicule was not some staged media event. She just saw a young man, who wanted a piece of her time, and she made him feel like the most special person in the whole world. James came up to me after the game and cried about Cat being hurt. I cried too because I realized that she will have the same impact on more lives than all of us combined can ever match. I don't normally use a public forum for private thoughts, but I know that Cat reads CoachT and I can't possibly hold up to talk to her on the phone just yet. Read on if you like..... Cat...or should I say CAT? Thank you for letting me coach you. Thanks you for filling Christine's heart with joy for allowing her to "momma you." Bad events can turn into learning moments, seek good from this set back. As I told you early last week...."The strength of the Pack is the Wolf and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack."(Kipling) Thanks for being the Wolf! Remember to lean on the Pack! Know in your heart that I will forever consider you a "grasshopper." Work hard, work smart, work together! Weave Riverdale softball

  23. I saw in today's paper that Katy Ayers had a HR against Columbia last night too. I *think* that gives her 5 on the season already..................pretty good week for anybody at any level! Her walk-off HR against Cat was several feet to the right of dead center on a curveball. Good hitting when you "go backside" with such power. Hats off! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  24. Well....without use of the cool graphics, I can assure you I have seen a rake in ERA's hands. lol You will NEVER hear me say anything bad about Andy & Chick and the AWESOME job they do with this tournament. The facilities, volunteers and Parks Department people are the ONLY ones that could pull off a tournament this large with as few hick-ups. I just hope Chick gets a chance to sleep sometime in the near future. It has been a Looooong week for these guys and will be an even longer Saturday/Sunday I am afraid!
  25. Today is cancelled due to rain. The "tournament organisers" are going to get back with the coaches this afternoon as to makeup games tomorrow. As for communicating with the media, I know that the HHS folks were working HARD to get all fields ready to play. With 60 teams in the field, it is hard enough to get in touch with all the teams. I think you would have better luck in the future getting your updates through your coach. Weave Riverdale softball
