  1. Looked good?????????? I think your eyesight is failing you Jay! I know you can't be totally crazy yet if you are letting Billie Jean make the decisions for ya! At about 8 we were playing Lincoln Co in the semi's. Great game featuring two of the best pitchers in Middle Tennessee. The pitcher you saw for us was "that Hosfield girl" who is throwing exceptionally well right now. Cat's knee is top notch and with her and Darci in the circle, they make Breeden and I look like pretty decent softball coaches Go figure......... Keep throwing strikes Casey!
  2. In the 4 years we have done the tournament, we have always used the blind draw system to try and give folks a realistic shot at playing at a variety of teams and we realistically believe most of the teams are pretty evenly matched to begin with. As far as a blind draw, that is a bit of misnomer as we are separating the out of state teams into one "drawing hat" from Tennessee teams(in separate hat) to give as many interstate match-ups as possible. The seeding option has been brought up before, but for the forseeable future, we like our current system. Plus.......it is just one more thing that is unique about "The Worth"!!!!!!!!!! Pray for good weather!!!

    NFCA Top 25

Congrats SBA!!!! Very deserving recognition to a very good team. As for the games with Riverdale, we have faced them 4 times this year, but only twice in the regular season. We are 1 & 1 against them in regular season (and 1 & 1 in preseason too.) The victory was in the tie-breaker and was one of the best softball games I have ever been associated with in my life. Very well played by both teams. The finals at the Commando Classic was late, cold and error-filled by BOTH TEAMS. Our(RHS) only run was un-earned and 2 of theirs(SBA) were unearned.....so take out unearned runs and St Benny wins 1 to 0.......Tired, cold, etc is a wash; St Benny was just better that night and had played one more game that day than us, due to our first round bye in the tourney. Are they #1 in Tenn? Right now, I would agree with std and say "yes." That is not to knock anyone else, Soddy & others are strong too. Shaping up to be a great state tourney in several classifications! Our paths will not cross again this year to "settle the score," but I expect SBA to be playing for a title in May here in M-Boro.

  15. Congratulations are in order to Gary Davis of David Lipscomb High School and Jeff Breeden of Riverdale High School for achieving milestone victories this past week-end in the MTSCA Tournament. Gary achieved his 500th career win and Jeff achieved his 400th career win. Two noteworthy accomplishments from two great coaches and two good friends! GATA thumb Dennis Weaver
  16. Cricket - I am not going get on this forum and argue with you. Two facts that you are seriously in need of are these: 1) I never turned in an application for the CC job 2) The picture was made at Riverdale and a double exposure technique was used to place our image in front of the CCHS sign. I think we have had this conversation before about my involvement in ALL CC sports. Perhaps we should discuss it again. If you think that I use the DNJ to intimidate, perhaps you would like to speak to me in person again. My number is in the book, call me...........that is is if you don't think that would be childish!
  17. Cricket - First of all, without knowing you, I fully respect your feelings and opinions on this matter. Whether you know this or not, the game was a difficult one for "the foursome" as well. I hope that you can realize that as much time and effort that we put into the CC softball program, we were put in a precarious situation. If we had won, would we have been "bullies" or "traitors." True be known, I am proud of the spunk and character exhibeted by CC last night. But let me challenge a couple of comments you made in your post. First of all, the DNJ story was not our idea, and other than the picture, we talked about how we really had mixed feelings going into this game. *We* did not make Riverdale a great team, I choose to think that we added to an already great team. Our picture was taken before the photographer told us what he wanted to do with the double exposure. After seeing the picture, I see it more representative of us "putting Coffee County behind us" and moving on with this new phase of our lives. Each of the 4 of us had our own reasons for leaving CC, Riverdale, for sure, didn't need us. Heck, maybe we needed Riverdale! We were not the salvation of Riverdale, in fact the opposite may have been true for this guy. All I know is that the players, parents and community of Murfreesboro have welcomed us with open arms and have provided me with the greatest "all around" season I have ever enjoyed. If things would have been different, perhaps we would have been in the 1st base dugout last night. Would you love us then? We do not use the paper to intimidate persons, nor do we choose to hide behind anonymous screen names to spew anger. Were we disappointed that we didn't win last night.....sure. But there are NO sour grapes here and Coach Breeden and I intend on being at Blackman tomorrow night to watch "our friends and colleagues." Last night was an exciting game. Coffee County won and should be congratulated. Any attempt to use their victory as a springboard for chastising "us" only soils the excitment for Coffee County and the rightful praise they are due. Shame on You! Good Luck Lady Raiders.........GATA! Dennis Weave "Weave"
  18. There is no "balk" in softball. If it was an illegal pitch, then the award of home is correct. "Slipping with both feet" is not enough information to tell if it was an illegal pitch in this forum. I was not there and have no knowledge of the players/teams/coaches/umpires but as a general rule, most umpires that are working post season are competent AND unbiased. The breaks might not have gone for you, but I am willing to bet that the umpires DID NOT exhibit "unfairness."

  20. I don't believe in superstitions.........they are BAD LUCK! Habits? I got a few. For home games, I go to the Favorite Market and get two bags of peppermints and 2 jumbo packs of Extra spearmint gum for the girls. For me, I get a copy of the DNJ, a bag of Reese's "Bites" and a Diet Dew. I fill out the line-up card with the same pen, and keep the pitching chart with the another pen.
  21. heart1 - As I understand it, Whitney Price was rounding 3rd and slipped and fell directly on her shoulder. SHe has had shoulder surgery before, and I think still has a couple of screws in one of the shoulders. I hope that she didn't fall on THAT shoulder but that is of small consolation. She is injured and my prayers are with her and her family. His Peace!

    Rainouts

Riverdale at Siegal is "weathered" out today, to be made up at 2:00 PM Sunday at Riverdale. It will be a home game for Siegel.
  23. Hollyn, I've been keeping tabs on you guys from the "Moms & Dads" at work. Sounds like you are hitting the ball really well this year. Stick with your dreams, you have the ability to make them real. I hope to see you this week-end at the Border Battle. Saw Adam and talked to him for a little while Thursday night at Warren County. It is amazing that he is playing ball after the injuries. Tough guy......must get it from having to deal with you. Say Hi to your foilks for me!
  24. I would agree that Hollyn Anderson plays 3rd base fearlessly and she may have the quickest hands I have ever seen. She is a fine young lady and a great softball player. Plus, she is the best "visor advisor" in history! The one third baseman that no one has mentioned is Natalie Brock! She is a heck of a fielder and can hit like a truck. We have faced Ezell 2 or 3 times this year and we try to avoid throwing her anything unless it is "on the black." Anybody that leaves a ball over the plate is gonna watch the scoreboard start flickering.
