Yep it outdrew all of the Vandy games that year and MBA was super talented and whipped the Irish. I don't think Owen was the coach but I'm too old to remember; I was a freshman that year. By the way don't you just love it when the only reason Ryan beat Ensworth is the Jefferson kid being hurt and the 5 INT"S... a true Vanderbilt type comment. Injuries are part of the game and guess what...somebody had to actually make those 5 plays...Ryan made great adjustments after the first quarter. Hat's off to the Ryan team and staff. ps Game will not be at Vanderbilt....not possible, anyway Greer is a GREAT High School venue

The final match was a doozie with Ryan blowing out in game 1 25-14. Game 2 pretty much was the decisive game as GPS led 24-16, after a sideout Ryan libero Ellen Mullins served 10 straight points and the Irish won 26-24. Game 3 was a toe to toe heaveyweight fight. At 23-22 Ryan setter Marie Mullins won a joust on an overpass with ther GPS Middle then a block ended it for Ryan 25-22. These two could esily meet again. We had THE FIRM experience at East Ridge during the Choo-Choo. Althought loud and Proud, nothing they said was out of line... I was line judging so I was 20 feet away(making bad calls). They were on the steps at ER just behind the bench. Actually our players loved it and got a kick out of it...I agree with 5Sport, if they had made sexually offensive or personal attacks I would have gotten involved... be competitive but don't be personal, is the rule to live by....whatever you do come out and watch these athletes!!!

Correct that's how it is in D-II this year. To take it to the worst possible drive Knox Webb and a Memphis team could easily have to play a best of 5 match. 10-12 hours of driving for a 1 1/2 hour to 2 hour match.

I agree PAGEMAN, we were at Blackman the whole time but Mary and the Blackman parents did a great job and all were friendly, etc. It was nice to have a tournament without controversy!!! Huntsville was clearly the best team but hats off to Centennial for a great run and the Lady Irish as well. Now it's time to get on that "Road to the Boro" Good luck this week in the districts. Should be great battles!!!
