  1. From today's paper.... Signal Mountain 11, Walker Valley 1
  2. Here's a better picture of the schools in each of the districts and regions (shown as Areas) http://tssaa.org/Classifications/report.cfm Keep this in mind, though. Some (many?)of the schools listed don't participate in Girl's Soccer. TSSAA just places them in districts in case they ever do. For example, Within Region 4, District 7, 14 schools are listed. I believe only 4 participate in girl's soccer, and that includes Sequatchie County that forfeited their games (regular season and district semi-final) with Notre Dame. Out west, they have to combine two of their districts into 1 for post-season purposes.
  3. Yes, I guess. Had to google her name, but see she scored twice and had an assist in the final. If she is a Junior, though, why are you mentioning it in the 2011 college commitments?
  4. the only additional data element that people have provided in the past (other than name, high school, and college) is Soccer Club...
  5. Ooltewah seems to have slipped (perhaps due to impact of East Hamilton opening up nearby), so you might have to replace them with Cleveland as another AAA team with a decent soccer program.
  6. Had SD also at least made it to the final, then you might have something. I think, though, that as long as you are winning 1-0, dominance probably isn't the word I would use. In addition to skill and hard work, etc, when you have two evenly matched teams, luck (good or bad) also plays a huge roll. I missed the ND-CPA game (was out-of-town), but from what I've heard, that was the toughest game ND played in the tournament, and given CPA's shot count advantage, etc, they could have easily won.
  7. Cane, didn't you hear the horn honking from the bus? It was at the end of your driveway promptly at 7:00 am, and waited for a full 5 minutes. The bus driver even got out and rang the doorbell. Your mom said you wouldn't come out of your room.... something about pouting... Seriously, since you were so derisive in your earlier post, I thought you could be a big enough adult to at least provide your grudging congratulations to the ND team, and those who picked them to go all the way... Maybe I'm expecting too much from you though...
  8. Cane, the bus will be back to pick you up at 7:00 am Monday morning. Make sure mom pin's your name to your shirt, and the bus will meet you at the end of your driveway.
  9. Cane, I'll save you a seat on the bus....
  10. Maybe so, but I can't vote against ND, even if it costs me the win (you'll note I'm currently in first place). My daughter might not go to ND anymore or play on the team, but if I didn't pull for them, she'd probably come after me...
  11. They should be eastern, as Chattanooga is in eastern.
  12. here is my state tourny picks: My Picks: Greeneville CAK Page ND Semi-finals: CAK ND Final: ND Total number of goals for the tournament: 26
  13. I thought the rule was that if two teams survived from the same district through regionals and sectional, then they would be on opposite sides of the state bracket.
  14. Is it correct that of the 8 schools who are in the tournament, only 3 are private? If so, that has to be a record.
  15. Notre Dame 1 Livingston Academy 0
  16. By my math then, I think I have 18 points after the first round. Seriously, in regions 1 - 6, I picked 7 out of the 12 possible winners. I also got both Region 7's, though I can't remember if that happened before or after I picked them.
  17. Lee is a top NAIA school, with the rest of their conference fairly week. They tend to blow out the teams in the conference that they have to play, but they balance it out by scheduling other top 10 NAIA schools. NAIA is another level of conference, just like NCAA Div 1, D2, or D3. I've heard as a whole it compares to D2 level wise, though the top NAIA schools would be very competitive with mid D1 programs. NAIA doesn't follow NCAA rules as far a recruiting goes. Most of the schools are private, and they can offer more soccer scholarship than D2, but less than D1.
  18. I'm going to take a page from Coniglio and pick w/ minimal current knowledge: R1 - Greenville and Elizabethton, with Greeneville winning the region R2 - Kingston and CAK, with CAK winning the region R3 - McMinn and East Hamilton, with EH winning the region R4 - ND and CCS, with ND winning the region R5 - CPA and DL, with CPA winning the region R6 - Page and Spring Hill, with Page winning the region R7 - Westview and Dyersburg, with Dyersburg winning the region R8 - McNairy Central winning the region Sectionals Greenville CAK EH ND CPA Page Dyersburg McNairy Central
  19. Notre Dame 1 - Baylor 1 Wasn't there, so I can't give any details, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the score.
  20. IMO, I'm ok with it from a rules standpoint. The way I look at is that if someone is wearing bright shoes, they are saying they are hot S#&T. I think it's always funny and maybe even pathetic when someone wears those shoes, but isn't very good. If that are very good, then I'm fine with their shoe choice.
  21. I agree a 2:00 start in the heat we've been having will stink. I hope with it being an exhibition game that they will stop the game a few times to allow for water breaks. If you can't make the TTU vs. Alabama exhibition game on 8/9 2:00 pm at GPS, you can also catch one of their other games in state http://www.ttusports.com/sports/wsoc/2010-11/schedule Aug. 9 vs. Alabama @ Chattanooga, Tenn. Aug. 14 Tenn. Wesleyan in cookeville exhibition 5:00 PM (will get to see the Kent Triplets play) Aug. 22 at Chattanooga 2:00 PM Eastern Aug. 29 at Middle Tenn. 4:00 PM Sep. 3 at Vanderbilt 7:00 PM Sep. 5 UNC Asheville in Cookeville 3:00 PM Sep. 15 Louisiana Tech in Cookeville 4:00 PM Sep. 25 Radford in Cookeville 1:00 PM Oct. 10 at UT Martin * 2:00 PM Oct. 15 Southeast Mo. St. in Cookeville 3:30 PM Oct. 17 Eastern Ill. in Cookeville 2:00 PM Oct. 22 Jacksonville St. * 3:30 PM Oct. 24 Austin Peay *
  22. After making a good run last season, that would be a big change. Heard they lost a top player to Signal Mtn, but with their nice new facilities, that's too bad.
  23. South Korea was the better team, winning 2-1, but I was impressed that Tennessee held them scoreless in the first half, and scored the 1 goal late in the second half. I was most impressed with the Tennessee Goalie. She made several great saves. Tennessee sufferred due to their lack of "team" -- they hadn't played together, and you could see that they couldn't anticipate which way their team mate was going to break, etc. Bottom line, I enjoyed the game, and hope to see more like it.
