Westmoreland gets the upset at Lipscomb. Wish I would have went to that game instead of the Sycamore - Maplewood game(It was like 30-8 after the first qt). btw grendal Sycamore beat Westy by about 16 each time durning the season...dont think Lipscomb and Sycamore would be even at best. So 9AA goes 2-2 in the first round. not bad. MLK must be pretty darn good, put a whoopin on cheatham. Harpeth goes down fighting to Hume Fogg. interesting first night.

Wonder how many other regional parings are like this? Interesting. Agreed Thegame....MLK might have an Emotional Edge as well, the kids will want to give 110% or more to keep this from being the LAST game for their long time Coach who is retiring after this season. I saw the PC- Maplewood game this year...PC is good, but they have a big man that tends to get into foul trouble. This could spell trouble for them(thats why Pearl got beat that night), the Heritage squad is surprisingly fast at pg and 2guard and will be able to hang with the quickness of PC in the half court. IF PC is able to get the running game started that may be a different ball game tho. Heritage is more set play hard defense low scoring style. Most def a clash of styles. MLK not skilled at the Guard position is trouble from the get go...Cheatham has one of the quickest/ sure handed point guards I've ever seen # 20. Good luck with that.

Looks like the games are set. Discussions? East gets the best of PC. Is Cheatham the only team to exit this bracket? Will 10 AA be surprised with the teams from 9AA? Or will 10 AA just sweep it all.

I believe all of us have enjoyed the banter Mumble... I want to say one thing. I believe the mesh that keeps Cheatham together, the one last piece of the puzzle, the dagger in the back if you will. It is #10's(Douglas) workhorse, hard nosed, freak of nature's ability to mix it up inside and find rebound after rebound after rebound. HE finishes that team and makes it tick. It is amazing to watch him. I dont know of many Harpeth people that are here on Coach T. But if you are reading this...THAT is the scouting report you must take to the bank.(it was very frustrating to watch it happen when you are the other team) find a way to keep him off the glass on both ends. ok done with that. Championship game will be : Harpeth vs Cheatham County. 3rd place: WHHeritage vs Sycamore. both games tonight were pretty much won in the 1st qt. Heritage made a small run in the 3rd but could not catch the more talented Cheatham. Sycamore was hit by a storm from the get go. Harpeth will give Cheatham all they want if they play like they did tonight. Correct me if I am wrong. 2-18-14 @ vol-state. 6:30 consolation game. 8:30 Championship.

Look for Sycamore to out of 9AA to make some noise. Sleeper.

Well, actually Greenbrier has won 4 out of the last 8 games, Heritage has won 2 out of the last 8, with one a loss to Greenbrier. I feel Heritage has the Athletes to compete....the question is, do they want it. Good luck to both and stay injury free.

Wow....the first upset of the Tournament. #3 seed Westmoreland is one and DONE. Upset by a scrappy and hot shooting Sycamore. Shocking in my eyes. White got points....but was had a cold shooting night, in the end I believe that hurt Westy. Sycamores defense and rebounding was spot on. It was a good game. Sycamore was able to get the lead early and westmoreland had no answer. Onward....Heritage vs Greenbrier tonight. Who ya got.

Harpeth gets the win in the first game Vs White House. They will play the winner of Sycamore Vs Westmoreland Thursday night will be a good one. They split the season games by 7-8 points each time. So its down to who comes to play. Good luck. I wouldn't want Harpeth...they are playing really good here at the end of the season.

Congrats Cheatham. The easy win over White House last night to complete the undefeated season was almost anticlimatic, I believe they knew it was over before the game even started. I was there. At games end there were no students flowing onto the floor in excitement, the players were not overly excited either. Maybe just buisness as usual and waiting for the real excitement of winning district, region, and possibly state. ok i get it. But it was a great season for them. Wonder if they will be able to keep up the winning ways after these Seniors leave? eh

''When Boyd, Harlan, and Saunders walked into the high school as freshmen the team was coming off a 2 year period with 3 total wins. Maybe that helps put into perspective just how far these kids have helped bring this program. Darden moved in as a Sophomore and has also had a huge impact.'' Wow. That is saying a lot for those Seniors. Good for them! I did not know that about Cheatham Basketball. A testament of hard work and good coaching. I am hoping the current Freshman that are at WHHeritage will be similar. This group as 8th graders won the Middle School County Championship over Springfield last year with one loss the entire season. Good group of young men. One of them (Center) has actually started a few games as a freshman this yr. So looking for big things out of them over the next 3 years. I would like to see Cheatham finish the season undefeated. That would be quite a feat...but it wouldnt hurt my feelings if Heritage came in and put one on them tonight.

It appears that Harpeth will indeed finish in 2nd place they are finished with district play with a record of 8-4.. There could be a 3 way tie for 3 depending on how the next few district games turn out for Westmoreland, Heritage and Greenbrier. GB has to beat Sycamore Friday night to finish 7-5. Heritage must win both games with Westmoreland and Cheatham to finish 7-5. Westy can finish 7-5 if they win their final games with WHHeritage and WHouse. So still some meaningful games left to play to finish middle of the pack. Its been a learning curve for newbie WHHeritage this year. First year to play AA ball....it has been nice to not finish dead last though, as some had predicted.( Because it is so much tougher up here in the big leagues) I believe we have competed and may still give Cheatham a run on Friday night. Any one know if the Dist Tourney will be pushed back from the original date of Feb. 11. There seems to be a few teams that will not have finished with their reg. schedule by then.

White House Heritage will play Westmoreland for the first time this season TONIGHT @ WHHeritage. Westmoreland had been hot for a while early in the season, I will be interested to see how they are playing now. A loss to Sycamore in their last outing, and are falling in the district standings. From what I have heard the are fast and will press. Predictions.

Cheatham is not getting much love from the Media/Tennessean in my opinion. Is it because of the AA status? Comments/

I dont get the Greenbrier spanking Harpeth gave them. Any one there to see it care to give me a clue as to how that happened. Young with just 2 pts. Could have been the hard game/loss to WHHeritage just the night before....they could have been emotionally and physically drained.

I did hear the District tourney will be at Vol-State again...I do believe that venue is a little out of touch now that the District has shifted North/nwest. Westmoreland being the only one kinda hanging out there with the rest of the teams more this way. I know it would be a small advantage but I would like to see the Dist.Tourney held at Heritage. The gym is nice and plenty big for the crowd and is centrally located to the new shift in the district. ehhh prob never happen but its an Idea. Austin Douglas WAS pivotal in the win last night. We said over and over 10 got the rebound AGAIN. Crazy good nose for the bball. Our group could learn from him.

"Officiating was horrible both ways tonight, as more walks were called than in an average 5-6year old game at the YMCA and cheap foul calls plagued both teams." True Mumbly. Officiating was way worse for WHHeritage. The foul count was something like 16 to 6 in the second half alone...(with 3 of the 5 starters fouling out) until about 80 seconds left in the game then finally Heritage gets to shoot 1-1. Cheatham was on the line for the majority of the second half with double bonus. Heritage got whistled for every little thing. Refs swallowed the whistle for the most part on Cheathams behalf. Darden slapping the backboard on an attempted layup for WHH should have been a clear Tech. The block/strip=foul...again no whistle. The many many moving screen/blocks not called. It was incredible, the no calls that ended up hurting Heritage in the end and Cheatham sunk many many free throws on the instant whistles against WHH. Now that being said, CCHS is a very good team with all the moving parts. Kudos for shot making ability and FT percentage. Good Job. When all is said and done its the score at the end of the game that matters. WHH did bring the game very close in the 2nd half, I think they cut the lead to 3 points. The final score is not indicitive to how the game actually played out. I know deep down CCHS knows they played a very good team that has the ability to beat them down the road when it matters most.

New kid on the block White House Heritage will play District favorite Cheatham Co. at Heritage on 1-14-14. I will be the first to say welcome to Heritage, Welcome to what I believe is one of the top 10 High School gyms in the State of Tennessee. I am excited to see this CCHS team, it will be good to see the how this Matchup plays out. A lot of "ifs" to be answered for this WHH team. I do believe "if" they play up to their potential it could be a closer game that most north of here believe it will be. I don't know... CCHS could roll in and hang 90 pts on us...or not. Thoughts. Score predictions?

eh...ok agreed, strike signature put in win period. Looks like Sycamore did give Harpeth a better game than Heritage did. That tells me they do have some talent. Have no idea what they have actually. It appears Cheatham IS the team to beat in this district as stated before here, with all the others looking for a mere second place. Cakewalk right?
