First off , I have deleted my posts on this thread. Next this is only for #50, his parents , aunts, uncles, girlfriends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd cousins and anyone else that I ticked off. I appologize for my POOR choice of words. #50 was and is a darn good football player. I hope he plays college ball and makes McMinnville folks proud. The classroom remark resulted from some remarks over heard from some fellow students at the high school, which can now only mean apparently they were full of "it" . As for the part about #43 and #56; there certainly were several other players who did a good job against Riverdale #22, #10, #28, #79, #34 come to mind but they all did play well during the first 2 quarters. I spoke to #43's mom at half time and she said they had to get up early the next morning to go to visit a school in Kentucky, and that her son had gotten interest in 2 or 3 other schools; I already knew #56 has had similar interests in him as well. I did not single them out from the rest of the team. And for my remark about "The days of stupid jocks are over" . This was again poor wording. I meant that ANYONE looking to go to college to play ball nowadays must meet much tougher academic core class requirements and it will get even tougher in the next 2 or 3 years. And that is true; That is straight out of the NCAA Clearing House book. By the way, just for the record; the minimum required ACT score for a school such as Vanderbilt is 25. Now that I have said all that, I have decided to discontinue my membership with this forum. I am not "Politically Correct" enough for you people. And for you boys who think I'm so old; just wait, your time is coming, it only seemed like 5 years ago when I was out on the field doing my thing. A wise man once said "Ignorance is wasted on the young". And another said, "Better to be silent and thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt". I guess I fall into the latter category. Anyway I'm done, so all of you go on and keep doing your little bashing routines on here, Rip me some more if that makes you feel big, but remember I won't be here. Now I must go drink a can of Ensure and go to bed.

Seems the majority on this topic are giving it to CC, but I offer this opinion. WC played Cookeville and Tullahoma close games; both they could have and should have won. Even the Lincoln and Sparta games were better than the scores showed. This Friday night will come down to defense for WC; if they play tough on that side of the ball and deny CC's offense the outside, tackle instead of grabbing at the runners, and rush the QB, then WC has a good chance to win this one. WC's offense will put some points on the scoreboard. It WILL come down to DEFENSE.

I like your optimism. But I hope that someone from Warren County's coaching staff will see this. PLEASE run the offense you did at Franklin County. I am happy for the team for beating Sequatchie, but that effort will not be enough for Price and company. Remember how they stole the momentum last year at Nunley Stadium. You WILL need that POWER OFFENSE that works so well on the ground; trust me!!!! A win means a play-off with a Symrna or a Lebanon instead of a Riverdale.

I know a loss is hard to take for anyone, but I'll say this; the Indians came out and played tough and played with some heart. You guys just needed some size and may I suggest that everyone work hard in the weight room and get those kids up behind the bleachers to come out for the team!! Warren County had better get with it this next week; Coffee will not go down without a fight and I had rather the Pioneers beat them than anyone else this year!!!!! !!!!!

Ill say one thing; Sequatchie County's folks were "class" last year when they came to Warren County and I only hope we can return the favor this Friday night, win or lose. I know their team has had to struggle this year but we know what that is like !! Good luck and I hope we can all enjoy a good night of high school football.

Kellraiser, you are correct about that. I was looking at it from a, pardon the pun,"worst case scenario." I certainly hope that they could wind up with a Smyrna, or better yet Lebanon, a team they have scrimmaged earlier this year and held their own against. Winning their last two games is the priority right now and I certainly don't want the Pioneers to think about anything but that. Now is the time for them to gel and come together as one unit and realize that they can defintely improve over last season!!!

Well defensiveman, #61's effort was not enough to quell the Pioneers was it ? And I'm sure I wouldn't characterize him as a "monster" How about "dirty." He is the one who took a cheap shot on Moran's knee in the 4th quarter, right? Anyway, we all know that WC hasn't much of a chance against Riverdale, but a chance to "go to the show" is way better than no chance, eh?

Update on #43. His remarked to some of us after the game that his knee is just a little sore; he did want to go back in but the trainer made him sit out the rest of the game so as not to take any chances with it. I was pleased to see a couple of new twists in the offensive plays and the line was blocking much better; looked like more of a team effort! The Wilcher boys and Moran are the combination in the backfield that the Pioneers needed from the beginning of the season. If they will limit the passing game to the quick screen passes and an occasional long hurl and let #15 and #7 run under it, but depend on the "power running" then they stand a good chance against Coffee County in two weeks. I feel that they should handle Sequatchie County OK; just don't overlook them. Congratulations to the whole team !!!

I am certainly happy for the pioneers after this game. They needed to win badly. But I hope that everyone in Warren County does not relish a victory against this jets team too much. Cumberland County is truly not competitive this year. I do want them to know that I have nothing but respect for them and and I admire a group of kids that show up and play hard like they did here. They should hold their heads up and keep on playing hard. It will get better for them. To the Pioneers I say, you need to work your butts off during your bye and learn how to tackle; Franklin County will not be near as easy.

You are absolutely right. County fairs and football do not go together! The coach should have his "assistants" patrol the midway and any players they catch should be made to run next Monday until their %#/! 's fall off!

I agree with you to a point. While WC lost some players from last year that definitely contributed, is it not the coaches job to bring players along to fill those spots? Paz and Ramsey were losses to the offense. Bratcher was a special teams leader. I see no difference in the O line from last year and the one they have now. Perkins played defense well enough, but he had a very low average per carry as a fullback and did not want to block for anyone else. The recievers you talk about were not consistent enough. No, I keep saying it; without blocking and a QB that can turn bad plays around the pioneers are one legged. High school is about the running game; if you cannot succeed with it, two to four completions during a game will not be enough for a W.

And you amaze me with the thought that you put into your name. Come up with that all by yourself did you? If you want to impress me with your views, work on your originality. There is nothing wrong with coaching your kid in sports,up to a point. But I will say this. Because school ball IS so political, not just here but everywhere, once your son or daughter gets to that level you should back away and let others take over. A parent can only contribute so much to their child's athletic education. I learned this the hard way years ago with mine.Coach Mullican who is at the middle school was smart enough to know this when his son moved up to the high school team. He was offered a chance to go up also and he declined; in this instance that was too bad for the varsity; and in case you people haven't noticed he has been behind what success the middle school program has had for some time now. Do you know why? Because he played QB in high school on one of WC's best teams in modern times. And although he didn't go to college he was offered the chance. Bottom line; he knows offense. I'm going to say this also. Just wanting to doesn't always equate to being able to. If that were the case I'd love to go up to UT and help ole Phil out with his defense against the option. On the flip side of that let me say that volunteering ones time at the youth level is a good thing. But if you want to do that get some teaching aides; the internet is loaded with them, and attend clinics so you can learn how to coach; it is an aquired skill, not inherited. A good source is the National Youth Sports Coaches Association. Finally, assist someone else first before taking on a head coach spot. I appologize to one and all for being so hard case on this subject, but I have seen first hand how screwed up kids can get by people who do more damage than good at the entry level of sports. I personally know of a young man in Warren County who because of a BAD experience with a coach gave up football and he can run like a deer. Try 4.43 in the 40. And he is not the only one I know of that gave up because of similar circumstances. It is just as easy to discourage as it is to encourage. Now you can continue to bash me about my stance on the coaching subject but I have said everthing I had to about this topic so I think I'll call it quits right here. I am going out on a limb; WC will play Cookeville a tighter game than everyone thinks. Matt Turner is helping coach the varsity now and like him or not he will light a fire under the O linemans' butts. ABOUT TIME!!!!!!

You know sports ed, I hate it but there are a couple of things that I'm almost tempted to agree with you on; mind you ALMOST. By the way, it's kinda hard to say anything about coaches when you're kinda close to the subject, eh? It is a fact that some parents believe in the impossible when it comes to their kids. And as far as my posts go, I just love to fire people up about this subject. Debate sparks thought, thought fosters change, and that's the whole point. "Good things do not happen by accident"

Let me back up and clarify a couple of things. I was not referring to the whole staff. I am talking about just a couple of guys. Anyway 3 out of 5 isn't exceptable in high school. Look specifically at where the team is failing; the OFFENSE. More to the point, the line and the play calling. Anyone should be able to connect the dots from here. Go over to the Civic center ballfield complex next spring and notice who is over there off the football staff. These guys have made a career out of "volunteer coaching."One of them did go to college. But he did not go on an athletic scholarship and he was scout team only. Check your facts. Colleges have to let students go out for their teams. Maybe we can call him a Rudy; but that does not equate necessarily to being qualified to coach. And I'm sorry, but when the staff starts moving defensive players around like they did before the Sparta game; something I might point out that didn't need fixing in the first place, that blows your statement of them knowing what they are doing plum into orbit. And I do not get my info from some old coach. Finally, the AD should be held responsible for some of the problems with the football program. Who do you think scheduled Bradley, Dekalb, and Sequatchie so that the staff had the best chance to win a game or two last year so as to keep their jobs for another year? There are things that go on around here between the lines and it amazes me how it blows right over most peoples heads. And yes there is more to football than winning; but you explain that to those 12 or 13 seniors who have worked for this year since they were 7,8, or 9 years old. No, I don't think it's OK to short change those guys just so someone can take their John Madden football down onto the field.
