  1. who does SD play this week?
  2. Please translate that for us pirate county. Also, what about Coach Price's return to SD?
  3. Rumor has it that Central Quarterback Joe Depaux was injured and would be out a couple of weeks. Any info please?
  4. What was the outcome of the Soddy-Daisy vs. Bradley game? It seems like everyone always praises Coach Price (former SD, current BCHS coach). Did he come back to SD and get the win or did the Trojans come out on top? Someone please give me a score and some highlights.

  9. Where's the almighty Red Bank Lions? Was it all Riggs the past few years?
  10. Has CN hired anyone yet? Someone give some insight. Who are the candidates?
  11. I heard that one of the candidates was Buzz McNish, current Head Coach at Lenior City. He has done an outstanding job at LC, competing in a tough AA district with Loudon and Anderson Co. among others. Would be a good fit for the Cavs.
  12. The Chattanooga Colonels 16's coached by Wes Skiles, Sal Rende, and Mike Vaughn are pretty strong.
  13. What about Tom Griffin, Head Baseball Coach at Morristown East High School? He is a former CN Assistant and was Head Coach at Tusculum in the early 90's. Great Coach ... should get a look.
  14. Tallent was legitimate at Soddy-Daisy. If I remember correctly, he pretty much pitched them to the District Title his Senior year, winning two tournament games. He was almost unhittable in the tournament. He did pitch less innings than Church, but he was a known commodity.

2001 Graduate of Soddy-Daisy. Pitched for Cleveland State JC as a Freshman this past year. Rumored to be transferring to Chattanooga St.
  17. What happened to Coach Swallows and to Coach Chaffin before him? Both seemed like good coaches and quality role models.
  18. Also I only used the term "ignorant assumption" because you used it describing my viewpoint. Good luck with the summer season and with 2003. I love it when athletes/coaches/supporters are passionate about what they do!
  19. Congratulations to Chattanooga Christian for an outstanding season in baseball. I know that Coach Visser is a good coach, you have good players, and that you worked real hard and deserve everything you got. I guess we will not agree on the points made on here, but if everyone agreed it wouldn't be interesting. In retrospect, maybe it was more Boyd doing the talking ... and you did put them out, so maybe you did your talking with your play. Sorry that I hit a nerve, but as a supporter of public schools, that do work hard and often feel like they are "spitting in the wind" when some of their better up and coming talent goes elsewhere (usually to a private school), it gets frustrating. Especially when these same private schools defeat the publics that don't have the same luxuries. I don't begrudge private schools. I attended a private college and roomed with a guy who attended a private high school. We are great friends still. I was only making a point that I don't feel these schools in single A should compete against each other to advance in the playoffs. Once again, Congratulations on a great year ... best wishes for success in the future ... sorry I upset you so ... thought this was a format for debate .... don't assume that when people debate, that it is sour grapes or that your team advanced farther than my team. I don't support any one team that either Boyd or CCS beat this year.
  20. P.S. Bravos, you are making an assumption that your team made it farther than mine. Who is my team anyway? Don't you guys debate at private schools? My arguement was not made because you beat me. Actually, not mad at all that CCS made it far ... just disappointed that you feel so good about winning when the level of competition is not even. I have heard many good things about Coach Visser and his program.
  21. Bravos 323, I never said you cheated. You merely have advantages that other places don't have. Where do all of the CCS players live? In St. Elmo? Within a 15 mile radius from the school? What about Boyd's players ... do they all live in Brainerd? Where do all of your players play summer ball? Probably for select teams like the Silverhawks or Colonels? Probably go to a lot of tournaments with good competition. Who do Sale Creek's kids play for in the summer? A dad who plays other "school teams" made up of players not picked up because their dad didn't know a select coach. Maybe you did not recruit one single player on your team ... but the playing field is not level when the pool your drawing from in limitless (no school zone). The thing that bothered me all spring is how the Boyd and CCS kids were on here talking trash because they beat up on community schools with a group of kids from all over Chattanooga and North Georgia. I realize that you barely had enough to field a team ... but it's quality, not quantity. If your starting position players and pitching rotation stay healthy and produce, does it really matter how many guys are on the bench?
  22. Coffman got screwed! He did a great job with ER this past year. Some reward for all his hard work turning the program around.
  23. Great job La Vergne. It was obvious that your team is talented, well-coached, and has outstanding chemistry. I was wondering however, how is it that Laverne and Oakland/Riverdale/Blackman are in the same county but don't play in the same region. Sounds like TSSAA favoring the mid-state again.
  24. All of you guys should play in the D 2 league with McCallie, Baylor, and Notre Dame. When you win that league, then you can get on here and talk.
  25. Ballin 4 has made a typical private supporter comment that requires a rebuttal. He says that private school coaches are better? Interesting? Whose job is more difficult? Who usually has a better group of athletes to work with? Whose kids are generally smarter? Whose kids are generally more motivated? In this day and age where baseball is becoming a country club sport (like golf and tennis) with all the $$$ being spent on camps, select travelling summer teams, pitching and hitting lessons, etc., who do think spends $ for all this extra stuff that makes players better? Do more private or public school players have this advantage? In your eyes, just pointing this out makes a public school supporter a cry baby. You see certain people are "born on 3rd base and think they hit a triple." This people have no idea what it takes to build a team from scratch in lower middle class community where baseball has not been important beyond the recreational level and the kids don't go to camps, lessons, or play select summer ball. Most private school coaches have it made. Show up in February, practice a little, write a lineup with several quality players from 4-5 local counties and 2 states, and come out smelling like a rose. The public school coaches are often stuck working with who they've got. No opportunities for getting a kid from across town. Public school coaches often do more with less. For the Chattanooga area fans, is Jimmy Parker at Boyd or John Visser at CCS better coaches than say David Dinger at Lookout Valley? Or are they fortunate to have private school talent? All coaches look good when they have good talent.
