  1. Road trips are hard. Baylor's worst game of the year by far was traveling to MBA. I do think there is alot of extra motivation for each team since the winner hosts a first round game and the loser travels. Should be a very good game.
  2. I think this game will be very close. Both teams are 6-3 and have won some great games. Does anyone know exactly what this game does for seedings....do they both still get to play at home regardless of the outcome or does one possibly travel. Anyway, hope the weather is good and to the Father Ryan fans that travel...travel safe. Of course I would not be a Red Raider fan (alum) if I predicted otherwise: Baylor 24 Father Ryan 21
  3. I made the trip from Chattanooga for the Baylor vs Ensworth game last night. What a player Darkwa is. I certainly hope he is doing well and that last night was a precaution and that he will be back on the field soon. Anyone is the know please keep us updated. Congratulations to Ensworth on the win...it was a long trip back to Chattanooga.
  4. I have only seen Fitz Lassing play once when it was against Baylor. I was extremely impressed with him and everytime he was involved in a play....it was positive. He is one of the best all around players I have also seen this year. Is he a senior?
  5. I guess you saw the correct stas. Baylor had 14 first downs and about 275 yards. We had another Huesman running td called back by a penalty. Those really hurt. But BA has a very good team and deserved the win. Congratulations to Brentwood Academy.
  6. Congratulations to the Baylor Red Raiders girls golf team for repeating once again as state champions! Hopefully the boys team will be back next year after a decade long run. Well done Baylor girls!
  7. Finally the streak is over. What a game! Atmosphere was 2nd to none. If you have never experienced the Baylor vs McCallie game....it is really something. Red Raiders dominated the game and finished the game. Huesman, Sam Williams, Pinkstaff, Trundle played amazing....but the whole Red Raider team played tremendous. Just a great team effort. Celebrate....you have the monkey off your back. I have no voice left after this one. Just a great high school game between two old historic, classy schools. Go Baylor!
  8. Love the enthusiasm and prediction.....hope you are right! Go Baylor!
  9. Spoken like a true Mom....gotta love it! Glad Mrs. Etter took care of you....she is a classy lady. Go Red Raiders!
  10. Bluemom, sorry to hear about the granddad being wheelchair bound. But sounds like you have a plan by calling in the morning. Mrs. Etter or Thad Lepcio in athletics will be more than glad to help you out.
  11. Let's hope the weather cooperates for the greatest high school rivalry game around! Can't wait to see the big red flags waving and the festive tailgating parties. It's Baylor vs McCallie and it just doesn't get any bigger than this. Here's to ending the streak! Baylor 31 McCallie 28
  12. Talk about a long ride back to Chattanooga. Due to weather I almost did not go but still glad I did. Baylor played (as someone else mentioned) very sloppy football. MBA played great defense and took advantage of all of the Baylor miscues. From what I heard a few fans say...this was the best MBA has played this year. Good luck to you the rest of the season. The way the playoffs are set up we may meet again. Congratulations on your win.
  13. If ND plays Collierville rather than Houston, I'll change my pick to ND. DonCChatt, I got this from Baylor's website....shows they play both Collierville and Houston. Not sure about ND. 9/18 Memphis Tournament vs. St. Mary's Away 6:00pm Info 9/19 Memphis Tournament vs. Collierville Away 11:00am Info 9/20 Memphis Tournament vs. Germantown Houston Away 1:00pm Info
  14. Kwoodroof Thank you for your very kind post. Yes, sadly my exile in Florida continues, with no end in sight. I've been an MBA fan since '68 when they were the most powerful team in Nashville. I was at the Ensworth game, but probably will not get back until January or so. They do a very nice tailgate now for the alumni, which i thoroughly enjoyed. I'll make that a yearly trip (my last two MBA games were at Cincinnati last year and the Ryan game at the cesspit out at Greer the year before. Still, as an alumnus from the '70's, I'd sit pretty much anywhere under any circumstances to watch MBA hammer Ryan, with the only concern being how to use the time outs in an effort to make the rubble bounce). If there's one benefit from the split, it's the fact that MBA now plays Baylor and McCallie, whom we should have been playing yearly due to the similarities in the schools. My trips to the Baylor Relays impressed me with how similar the schools were (and what a beautiful campus!). Good luck Friday and have a safe trip. I'm sure you'll find the MBA people very hospitable. I hope the MBA team is a bit less so.[/code] An exile in Florida sounds pretty good sometimes...however, I am sure you miss Tennessee. Are you able to pick up the MBA games on radio in Florida? If not, you can go to Baylor's website and click on live web and get radio coverage on it. They have 2 students a year that is over broadcasting, they even sell advertising for the show. It is for students that want to pursue a career in broadcasting. It is pretty neat but even in Chattanooga, the station is alittle fuzzy. AM station. It sounds like, for you, the Father Ryan game is a big rivarly? I am sure I will enjoy the trip to MBA....I expect nothing but a hard fought match from both teams.
  15. Kwoodriff, from you profile it shows Ft. Lauderdale so I don't suppose you will be at the game. I always enjoy reading your posts. You are very knowledgeable about MBA and are very passionate about your school. I share that same kind of passion for Baylor and always will. I look forward to the trip to MBA and really expect a good, close game.
  16. I hope you are right bgaballer...but regardless of MBA's struggles so far this will be a huge test for Baylor. This game means alot of both teams so we will see how it goes. BGA was a great test for the Red Raiders but going on the road to MBA will be a large task. I think the guys can do it and will go with my heart. Go Baylor! Baylor 31 MBA 28
  17. Bluemom....I thought it was nice of jon26 to include McCallie along with Baylor (his school) when talking about why larger dominate local schools will not schedule us....so not sure why you always have to take a jab at Baylor at every chance you get.It sounds like since McCallie plays Tyner this week that you have to make excuses as to why Baylor beat Tyner so soundly. So to set the facts straight....Tyner lost the ball 4 times not 5 since they recovered one of their own fumbles. Baylor had 18 first downs to their 11. Outgained them 350 yards to 190 with Sam Williams on the sideline. It was a sound victory for Baylor. We appreciated Tyner scheduling us this year....they were gracious hosts. Should I reserve judgement on McCallie after you play Tyner and BGA head to head to see how you do? No, that is not for me to do. Why you continue to take swipes at Baylor is beyond me. As in other posts you always say it is just being friendly? Thank you jon26 for taking the high road for Baylor in your referencing McCallie in your post.
  18. Baylor 34....BGA 14. Again without Sam Williams and John Mackey alot of players really stepped up. Way to go Baylor!
  19. Sportshooter....what is your prediction? I believe this will be another typical Baylor/BGA game and could go to the end again. I am just hoping for a different ending this time....heartbreakers the last few years. You mentioned you have your star running back playing again. That is good news for sure. Not sure if anyone knows of an update on Sam Williams yet. He left sometime in the first game and is sidelined with an injury. Looking forward to a good game. Baylor 24 BGA 21.
  20. Thank you littleholden1. Are you a Cleveland player? If so, I know that Cleveland has such a talented senior class....this could very well be your year. I hope it is a nail biter because we know what Cleveland has. It is going to take Baylor some time to replace the big losses in seniors we lost last year...especially on defense and goalie. But the year is young. Just hope we can get the game in....weather wise.
  21. Akula21, Great breakdown of the game and nothing more I can really add. It was a tale of two halves for sure. The inexperience of the Baylor defense lead to the own goal and that is something that only more playing time and experience will help. Coach Blair will have the guys better as the season progresses....just needs time. After halfime adjustments it was a different team....just could not finish. As for Alcoa....my hat is off to you and your team. You had them very well prepared and defending very well. We have heard nothing but great things about you (Alcoa coach). I hope your team has a great year. Best of luck.
  22. akula.....I will be at the Baylor vs Alcoa game tomorrow and am looking forward to watching this tournament. I just hope the weather predictions are wrong. This is going to be an interesting year for Baylor. We lost alot of talented seniors last year. Defense, goalie and alot of our offense. But it is fun to watch new players step up to get their chance. Is Alcoa a veteran group or are you experiencing growing pains this year? I have enjoyed your insight and comments on high school soccer through the coach t sight.
  23. This was just a great win for Doster and to win a state title was wonderful. He has wrestled great all year and earned it. Congratulations to him.
  24. Awesome for the Hayes family. Way to go Chanse....Cole you will be back next year....keep your chin up.
  25. Baylor's Cate beat Father Ryan's Brewer for 3rd in 140's. Baylor's Stravram over McCallie's Clements in 135's for 3rd.
