  1. How can I find out who is on the All-District and All-Region teams? Has this info been released yet? We are in AAA District 5.
  2. You are stereo-typing a whole group of guys...with absolutely no facts. Do you know what the summer schedule was for Stone or CCHS? So, a pre-season scrimmage in Pikeville formed your opinion regarding the amout of weights the boys lifted and how they conditioned.. Unbelievable.
  3. If you think for a second that these boys did not work out all summer and lift weights, you are kidding yourself. As for making excuses for the players for not being able to finish....Intellegent reasoning is not an excuse. Trying to identify the problems and coming to solutions is not an excuse. Great players play for Cumberland County High School. They do what is asked. They work out just as hard as every other athlete. They are respectful to their elders. They cannot succees without the full package. Look at Fulmer..1 bad season and he is gone. He did a good job, but someone under him did not. The head coach has to be responsible. Do you think all those recruits at Tennessee are not good athletes? So. what is their excuse? Not in good shape or didn't lift enough weights.... Please.
  4. I commend every single guy that has played 4 years of HS football..at Stone and at CCHS. We have stood behind them over and over and over again. Finally, the season is OVER! Praise our Lord! The biggest problem with the CCHS football team is the offensive play calling...why throw the ball deep 3 or 4 times in a row with our receiver covered without mixing things up? Or... run it down the middle without even looking to see where or how we can penetrate? It may be easier to see what could work better from the stands, but isn't it someones job to analize each play in the split of a second and give the boys the best option to score. It seems like a lot of the plays were pulled out of a hat without watching the game! Not just against Stone..every game we have played. It isn't an easy job to call plays and exploit the weaknesses of the other team in a split second, but it is someones responsibility, right? We have been within 2 or 3 yards of the goal line several times with very few finishes, which, by the plays executed, were mistakes, bad readings,and/or bad strategy by offensive coaching. I feel like if I were not able to read the game and give the boys the best opportunity to score, I couldn't continue coaching. My love of the game and my pride is too big to continue to fail. Succeed with or without me...for the boys sake. As for our Defense, they have had a great season. Of course, when we cannot score, the momentum of the game shifts and it becomes more and more difficult to give 100%. D did their job. There are just some things these boys had absolutely no control over, and they were respectful and did just exactly what was asked by the adults in charge. They did not fail. As for the lessons learned... The games are over for the seniors. Through the powerful process of being part of a team, they have learned many great traits to carry themselves throughout a lifetime. Great work ethics... Devotion to each other...They have made friends for LIFE! ...The ability to cope with pressure... Competitive fire to keep trying...Self-discipline... Most of all, these boys have learned not to ever quit. They never gave up! Life is not fair. When the going gets tough, these boys will not quit! Anyone who repeatedly gets beaten down and jumps back up to give 100% one more time...over and over...are the heros of tomorrow. They will not fail because they never stop trying. If you think football is about wins and losses, you are absolutely clueless! Toilet Bowl/Queen of the Mountain..how elementary. Apparently someone out there may find pleasure in others defeats. How sick. I am saying what 90% of every CCHS parent who knows anything about football has wanted to say for a long time. There is no disrespect intended. Disappointed parents, disappointed players, disappointed coaches. Good lessons learned all the same with a horrible price to pay. We will always be the biggest fans..for the boys who have paid the price. The class of 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, etc. deserve to have a positive experience in football at CCHS with knowledgable adults to get them there. If I were not 100% confident in what I taught, I wouldn't teach. GO JETS!
  5. Semi-Finals 5AAA Cumberland County 0 McMinn Co. 1 Cumberland Co. took 13 shots on goal to Mcminn Co.s 13. Pretty even match. Mcminn's only goal was scored in first half from a DK about 20 yds out. CCHS keeper tipped shot and Mcminn player plowed through to finish.
  6. Cumberland County Lady Jets JV has played 3 jv games.. Ooltewah JV 2 CCHS JV 0 Warren Co 2 CCHS JV 0 Livingston JV 0 CCHS JV 0
  7. There are some good underclassmen at Cumberland Co. We have not had much success...but needless to say... Rebecca Kennedy (Sophomore) has so much athletic ability. She played at SMSC/FC Alliance last spring along with Ellie Krumpols (Sophomore). Both of these girls have alot of talent. Also, Abby Spitler (freshman) is a smart player and played for Fusion ('94) with Lauren Neal and Tony Nigro this past spring. These are the only club player we have...out of 20 girls....so these 3 girls have played everywhere on the field. Go Lady Jets!
  8. Kat Nigro is by far the most talented player in Tennessee. She was as a freshman! I have never in my life seen any girl distribute the ball like she does! She crossed a ball against us that hit her teammate and went in. The goal scorer did nothing and scored! Pretty neat. She can serve on a dime and makes great things happen all around her. Also, one thing that stands out when thinking about watching Kat play is her ability to change the ball direction with her headers. Some of the hs boys do this, but never have I seen a girl so young master this in the center of the field and usually marked. Too cool to watch. Her chips into open territory give me chills... Holy Goodness. She has everything it takes to be on the Womens National Team. We will see her play at the highest level and then the whole world will know her name! Go Kat Go!
  9. We had 2 of our starting defenders out of the game early due to injuries...Capt. may have torn her ACL. We will find out results on Wed. from the MRI.... A total of 6 CCHS girls left the field in tears. This was a physical game. We had one referee who called pretty much nothing all night and in essence the game got out of control. Anger and tempers flaired. Cumberland Co. has to play more physical or more girls will be out with injuries. Dispite playing with lots of subs, we played til the end. Not pretty. Lost our team shape. Hopefully this can all be fixed soon. There is so much talent on this team to let one game get us down. Referees need to call the fouls/bad language early to get game under control.. Warren Co. Coach was very respectable.
  10. My son is a senior, and I told him before the game...play like it is 0-0 every single sec. He sure did! When a teen age boy is faced with physical and psycological adversity with no immediate, or in this case no long term reward and they choose to never give up....that is success! What a game #7 Ethan Spitler! Cannot wait to see the stats for the tackles! You never want hardship or defeat to happen to your own child, but I believe there is a bigger picture. To never..never give up is a true blessing. These boys know how to get up and keep going when all else fails. We are learning quite a bit about life...It's not fair, but it is what you choose to do about it that makes all the difference in the world! GO JETS!
  11. Lincoln Co 53 Cumberland Co 3 At half-time, the score was 14-3... Bless Cumberland Co. boys hearts...What happened? 13 players missed practice on Labor Day and were not allowed to play...
  12. Sorry. I did not look at my calender until after I posted. We cannot attend the tourn. in the middle of the week.
  13. What is the fee? Could we only play on Sat. and early Sun.? Cumberland County High School just voted to keep sports in the budget tonight at 11pm!!! We have missed an Invitational and 2 pre-season scrimmages this week. Is this a reg. season tourn. or pre-season? I would be willing to try and bring our girls up to Kingsport if the schedule and fees could be worked out.
