  1. Glad my nudging got somebody stirred up. Great stories and detail. Funny how we see the same game differently. It sounds more like East vs. Middle, but glad a good time was had by all. To my earlier point, two of the top keepers in the state were not there and they are from shelby county, very West. I'm using ODP, as my measure and I don't know the girls who played and am sure they are excellent as well. Maybe down the road we can have four teams and play a mini-tournament. That would really get a lot of attention and exposure for the girls. Let's face it, many, many excellent players were not there and this could be a major opportunity to promote quality soccer in TN.
  2. I was hoping to learn more about this event when I returned to T. I think Canes math speaks to my questions as to why this select group became the TN all-stars, and so many seem to have been omitted. I also think the lack of reporting suggests that only a hand full of folks cared, and they were in attendance. I guess they didn't find enough excitement to post the game story here. Oh well, I hope the idea person behind this works harder next year, if there is a next year.
  3. Totally understand, but there are girls that play on the same teams with the girls on list that are missing and as good as, or better. That's the puzzling part???? Just asking for more info from someone who is part of the event to better understand the purpose an selection process. And why we aren't recognizing a larger group of seniors, even if they can't play. IMO, this is not the East vs. West all-star game, but an East vs. West game of very good players, some of which or most of which are all-stars, but all the State All-Star Seniors are not on the list or being recognized. Hitting the road, so it will be over before I can read T again. Just curious.
  4. At the risk of being accused of poo pooing this game, there definitely seems to be a "quietness" about the event that raises questions. I congratulate the girls playing and the effort someone has put forth, but it seems to be something done for those "in the know" and not the general senior high soccer world. An event like this should have been promoted on T and under development for more that a week. Why do we learn about it after the team is picked? IMO, some major players names are missing and they should have gotten the benefit of being called a High School Senior All-Star as well, even if they chose not to participate.
  5. I think that was my point and rather than leave someone out, I won't try to name excellent seniors from the West that are not playing. Just wondering what criteria was used to select the teams. Was it on a volunteer basis. How did the word get out. I personally don't have a senior in the pool, so I'm only curious and think this could be a great post season outing for the future and maybe add additional age groups. Also, given sufficient notice and planning, a great exposure for girls and coaches looking for college opps.
  6. This is a great idea to let the seniors have one more game. I recognize many outstanding players on the list and assume they all are, but the are some equally outstanding girls missing. Are these girls committed to colleges or still looking for a chance to stay in the game? Why did some elect to not play? While this may be titled the East vs. West, without a true "all-star" team for both sides, it's hard for me to think this would be a real test of the best of the best for bragging rights. Hope the word gets out for some college coaches to attend, but this is a tough week-end for that with the playoffs starting. I also hope they have a fun week-end and stay injury free. Who's coaching? I couldn't get the TSCA site to load.
  7. If St. Agnes wins both the mjuhb poll and the state tournament, they are the champs. If Baylor wins the state tournament and St. Agnes wins the mjuhb poll (he does a great job as we all know) then I am thrilled. Baylor get the gold soccer ball and St. Agnes gets a framed printout of the mjhub poll. I do not know which team is better but lobbying mjuhb or analyzing goals per game against different opponents is not going to tell us much. All we will ever know is who was better on a given day if both teams make it through the playoffs, which is no guarantee for either team. Soo, what do you think about mjuhb polls now? Just thought we might revisit some old issues. Also I think a lot of folks feel the West has it easy getting to State, since they don't "have to play any real competition" through out the season. Of course we need to add the "luck" factor to the final games as well. Glad we got lucky 3 times this year. If the east had 3 State Champions, the posts would still be flowing, but that's Okay, we know how much we are loved.
  8. This is from Mr. Mjuhb's final predicitons. He was extremely accurate with the exception of DII A. Eurosportscoreboard could just use his info and gain some respect. 9. But that is my WHOLE point! These younger ladies see the older ladies acting this way, and they think it is acceptable! This is the EXACT reason why an example must be made. You're going to get us another 700 word essay on the LOTG. Try this rule Mr. Socref1: An important tool for the referee is Law 18, Common Sense.

  11. "No one needs to be "made an example" of, since to do so would not deter the next person, or the next. That is like saying capital punishment will deter capital crimes, which you know it doesnt. Like I said earlier, move on, nothing to see here. Your opinion is noted, but at the end of the day, it just doesn't matter." I was enjoying the debate as well until.........this ridiculous comment above. Let me put it this way, if there were no consequences, every crime would accelerate. On the field or off. You have said volumes, by putting yourself out as an above average ref and then say, just let it go. Why red card if it it would not deter the next person. You want someone with an opinion that differs from you to "just let it go". I feel, and I think many others feel, that this will not only deter this girl, this coach, this team and this ref, but will open the eyes of players, etc. in future events. Will bad sportsmanship continue, of course, but hopefully we never turn away and say, oh well, no big deal, it's just soccer. Oh well, lets not punish someone for a capital crime, it's just a life, it just doesn't matter. Oh my!!!!
  12. Woof, Woof...... The Girls are getting all wadded up. Season must almost be over. Where's Barb been hiding, (Greeneville). She has more posts than G.BigG....
  13. Was that a dog whistle that I couldn't hear??? Ahh, G... good one! Couldn't get CCS address to come up on google map, so I asked. Then got it on mapquest and tried "once again" to delete, but can't so I leave the silent whistle icon . Headed east now..........
  14. Might be the girls boards quote of the year. DITTO !!!!!!
  15. Did you win or not win (politically correct for losing) a recent election????
  16. The G man made me do it. My 2 cents, CAK all the way. Sorry Don, but you bet with the heart as well.
  17. I hope you didn't "double down" with a hair bet and for future ref. don't go with the "heart". I know it ain't over til....... I'm just accustomed to you being on top, not in the 50 percentile.
  18. Congratulations to Greenville!!!! I had some bad-dog comments to offer, but I think I will let the Page coach make those for me.
  19. Got any numbers, like 0-0 or 3-3 or 9-0, sorry they already played. Soooo tacky
  20. Oct. 13, 2009: Post from me: woof, woof: I don't have a clue how all that sub-state, etc. works where Page plays, but in looking at Eurosports (use if when one can), there is night and day between the top 4 ranked teams and 5 & 6 IMO. If they have to play the teams they have scored 100 goals on to advance they will, but when they hit any of the top 4, BYE, BYE. I never thought to include the top 5, but I guess I can stand (on my hind feet) corrected!!!!!
  21. Big G can best answer, but locally, the coaches submit names to all the coaches and they vote. As for BOP, I think they try to spreed the love to schools rather that the "best", ie. you have 4 great players, but you are only allowed 2 from your team to be selected. The lesser school has zero players at your # 3 or #4 player level, but they get one on the BOP team. We do not have anything, but one team, so there's no 2nd or 3rd or 4th (Canes favorite) "ALL ANYTHING" team in the West, that being Memphis/Shelby county. For All State, there is not a Best of 11, but rather a bunch and what determines the number, again, we need a participate in the process to give the details. You didn't beat me, I just chose to not get a hornets nest stirred up 48 hours before State. But, I thank you for your picking up on the post. I have been in the rocking chair on the front porch just enjoying the peace and quiet. Haven't found any swords to jump upon. Maybe this topic will give us a few sparks until we hit the road the Chattanooga. Best of luck to all those making the trip (locals as well) and safe travels.
  22. Congratulations for your team, but some questions: LOL..... I actually put a reply together and trashed it knowing someone would pick up on the Kegg comment. I usually am the bad guy for going first. A couple of points, I never knew we had a "Co-Coach" award in any sport and he said "all-region", not all state, but I could not find any post-season announcements. I know the coaches vote and assume they get the results before the rest of the world, but if, in fact, it is as Kegg stated, it would have been nice for the FR coach to share the TOTAL results with his team and school and not just single them out. Last, I thought most announcements were post state and even though this is stated to a "region" title, they still have one or two more games before the celebrating can begin. IMO, not the time to feed egos, just yet.
  23. Actually it just appeared for DII. I guess they updated this AM. Thanks.
