Evening Cap & Co. Hey man, you guys are good and yall' know the South Side respects you and all that but don't be whuppin' up so badly on them Bad Boys from Bloomin'dale. And is S. East a contender next year or what?
I would like to hear from the players who hit the hardest, ran the fastest, ran the best routes, was the hardest to tackle, opened the best holes and who was the best field general. Tell us who surprised you and who was not all that.
No one has previously started this thread because we are all on the same page. We are in meditation. For our Mentors efforts to have not been in vain we must endeavor to forge through previously unchartered territory. The fire is being stoked and we are honing weapons previously unutilized. The Seniors of the 05' campaign were natural born leaders and paved our way. The Seniors of the 06' campaign are not the Blue Blooded Generals from last year but are Lionhearted Warriors instead. Let us prepare quietly and endeavor to erect our flag on the summit. And the spoils go to the victor.
One thing is for sure...J County has not had to excuse themselves yet this year. No, they have not played 5A schools and yes they have played 2-3A schools but many others have also. The fact is they have played the same tough football week in and week out and this week will be no different. If they have anything they have consistancy which cannot be said for Betsy. I chose Betsy because of one endearing factor...Heart. Heart will win this game or the lack of will lose it. Betsy, do you have Heart? Remember, this game is 90% mental!
True that. When Preston puts the ball in your hand you must catch it! Who wants this one more? J County so to prove they are for real...or Betsy to prove they always have been and still are? Will be but yet another classic.
Curious to know about the field conditions. Do they not have a practice field? I always have to work when we play there so am unaware. Did the field conditions dictate the offensive strategy?
See...that's how it works. Anytime someone is revvin' you up and you can't hold back no mo'...just tell em'...Hey, You wanna' take it "Outside"? If it's real personal then you might want to start your own topic when you get there...otherwise it might become a barroom brawl. And for those of you scratchin' your heads, you might want to go with the wife to Victoria Secrets tonight and window shop and then come home and listen to the news about who won.
I did not realize you had so many injuries. I thought we were the only ones to have megainjuries. Anyway, I said my say early in this thread and stand by it. It is great that the competition is from our own conference. I'm proud that J County is of the calibre' that they have become. I wish for everyone to step it up. It will only make us all better. Play hard, play clean and no one gets hurt! I sure would like to see this one but I'm relegated to the Mason-Dixon Bowl. Good Luck from the South Side!
I'm not gonna' stir it Cap just want to clarify a couple things. First you must work 12 hour shifts. Anyway, in the 70's a Flag route was a dogleg to the corner of the endzone regardless of the yardage. A post is of course a goalpost. And the "stop" pattern you described was called a "buttonhook" and was extremely effective against the B&R. After running a couple of "fly" routes to burn a B&R CB the WR would come back and run a 10yd. "Buttonhook" for a sure first down. After being burned on a couple of long patterns the CB would lose the B&R and play 8-10 soft and the WR would begin as if to run another "fly" and then stop dead and turn around...all alone. There was also a "hook and go" which was effective on a tight man coverage. The QB usually controlled that with a pump.
