  1. Dude...we're all on the same page. Stacy's the Man, OK.
  2. All the right words at the correct time. You are the desirving ones based on your effort and your sportsmanship. Good luck from the South Side!
  3. I'm sure someone will mock my post in this thread because this is actually another thread but this situation happened to me when I played. I don't think the coach can fight a players battles for him. It can be dog eat dog in the dressing room and the only cure for this disease is on the field (practice) performance. I endured it and finally got tired of it and fought my way to a starting position albeit, an aternate position than my natural position but still a starting one. Then and only then did I get respect. If you as a parent were not a player then you may not understand this anomoly. However, it is basic instinct...survival of the fittest. It is definately ruthless but it is natures way. For the coach not to speak to you...well I don't know about that but for you to ask him to fight your sons battles was perhaps nursing your sons maturity. Could be that the situation was very much out of hand and needed some intervention but in most cases these things are truly..."defining moments". And in the long run are essential training for ones well being. I'm not saying you did the wrong thing because I cannot make that judgement but I think overall those kinds of situations are best left to work themselves out naturally. Parenting is a call to greatness and sometimes it is difficult to be silent and allow your teachings to find their path.
  4. I did not feel you disrespected anyone. And you are correct we need more lights burning. And I hope when we feel darkness is prevailing that we will find the spark to light them. I too feel that we are at the doorstep of greatness. I have to believe that Stacy and Co. are truly zoned in on this and have what it takes to go to the next level. And so therefore I will not second guess him. I did that after week 2 and in week 6 he made me a believer and recieved my apology. And with that I'll shut up and take it one game at a time.
  5. I don't really want to continue discussing this because I have said what I intended to say and you are correct it does seem that way but it wasn't just one or two calls. It was the whole evening. It was the kind of things that make one think, "Hey this is over the line now what is going on here". And that was early in the second period. It only got worse and more intense. If I did not feel corruption was involved I would not have involved Coach Cooper. I am 100% convinced that no seasoned coach in this area...Stubbs, Clark etc. would have let the contest continue within the context that it was happening at the time. It only tainted Unicoi County. And I reiterate, their boys played a fine game and displayed great sportsmanship as well. The point about taking the argument elswhere was well taken and has since been done but I can't help but continue to feel that Coach Cooper could have had some sort of control over what was unfolding. And to take it a step further, if a Coach does not have that power then he should have. Because he was made to look foolish as innocent as he may have been.
  6. I was gonna be quite and let everyone else do the talking but I have say that it is true...we do have things we haven't shown and...we are playing better each week as a complete team. In spite of the lackluster first halves I think this week we will play 4 quarters. None of that Curt this and Curt that stuff. Curt is doing what Curt is doing because he is being supported by a very upbeat team. And Stacy and company keep the pot on the fire 24/7 brewing some new porridge with which to satisfy the South faithful. It took a long time to get over week 2 but the strength is really coming on. I hope the Seniors stay pumped!
  7. All in all I feel you are correct...politically correct that is. 90%...no 100% of todays HS's play zone defense pass coverage. Because of all the reasons you stated. 60% of all HS's live and die by the spread. 95% use the spread to some degree. It has been said in the professional ranks that the running back as we know it is dead. I'm not politically correct so I disagree with most of these notions. It is just fad. But as far as bump and run is concerned I guarantee you that if a CB is taught to put the WR on the ground within scrimmage and before the ball is thrown it will change the mind set of the WR, the QB and the game plan. Someone will get burned someone will get eliminated but it will cause a reaction. No one uses it because it is to risky. RB's run north and south because it is safe. Offenses run the spread because it is safe. There are a few coaches in our area that mix it up on offense but no one runs man-to-man pass coverage. I think the first coach to use B&R will make everyone sit up an take notice because it will work wonders if executed correctly.
  8. I understand your point and agree with you to a large degree however (and this is not to justify my posts or anyone elses actions because I do not and they do not feel any remorse for any statements or actions made) you have no idea what degree of hideous sportsmanship we endured at Unicoi. If you did you would sympathize somewhat. I don't ask that anyone cut us any slack but if you were not a witness to the abomination that occured Friday night you have no clue and should not crusify us until you understand the detail of the blatant corruption of power the referees imposed on Sullivan South. Not to mention the fans. I wish we could have walked away spraying rose petals as we left but we were human after all.
  9. At Unicoi I only saw about 4 plays that I wish Curt had not kept the ball but made a different decision. I do wish Stacy would use these last games to experiment with some new running techniques to garner a twist or two before heading into the playoffs...provided we make it that far. I do think that he will keep a couple of tricks up his sleeve until then though. As far as North is concerned, I think they will play tough but they can't stop our passing game short of an injury. And they are much more respectable than that. Can their running backs run against our D...well their work is cut out for them. Jordan Kitzmiller is on a roll but we got 5 more just like him. Brad Jeffers ain't no slouch either. And as far as the Curt Phillips Show...Don't you wish you had one. Fact is, they are playing more as a team right now than last years team and that is saying quite a bit! Now if we could just get Fletcher back we could have some fun!
  10. Betsy has turned the boat around and will torpedo the Cougars. Look out J County here they come.
  11. M East will beat Boone. Elizabethton will beat J County 'cause after Bristol gives them a lesson in defense they will still be in the classroom when Betsy comes callin'. Just an opinion from the South Side...
  12. My opinion for what it is worth is that Elizabethton will be in the playoffs and 3 of 4 MLC teams will win. If Betsy' wins the rest of their games and I think they will and if Bristol beats J County and Unicoi wins their remaining games then 3 teams will have 4 conference wins. What will decide 3rd and 4th?
  13. Everyone knows who I am anyway so it doesn't matter.
  14. As stated in the Bristol/Central thread I've got Bristol-35/Mtn. City-6. The Vikings are waking up this week to their DB performance ability.
  15. I'm not arguing with you. I don't need you to agree with me. I'm just telling you how other people in the conference view you. It takes more than one incidence for an action to become reputation. No one denies that you play tough. If fact, if you read more than one thread you will see that you are given respect in all corners of the conference. The respect is for your strength and ability, however your sportsmanship needs work. Yes we all display a bit of agression occasionally...but you have aquired a reputation. It takes time to build a reputation. And therefore your tatoo.
  16. You completely mistook what Coach Cooper was trying to say No, I completely understood what Cooper did not say but should have said! You have to understand that for this Unicoi team, making the 4A playoffs for the first time in school history is the primary goal. And evidently at any cost! All he was trying to say is that we have to put this game behind us and concentrate on our next two opponents. All he was trying to do was to discount S South. He meant no disrespect He meant nothing but disrespect based on his (lack of) actions. look at it from a coach's point of view. I am looking at it from a coaches point of view...he proved he is no coach. Although I will certainly acknowledge the poor officiating (from both angles), There is one grandstand at Gentry Field...we all so it from the same angle...don't make me quote details. I won't let the head coach's words be used against him. Even if it makes his players look like fodder? The fact of the matter is we have two games left on our schedule and winning both of them would solidify our spot in the 4th seat of the playoffs. The fact of the matter is that by the method you tried to win by last night you do not deserve a spot in the playoffs. You have the right to be critical about the fans and the officiating but please don't drag the team down. The Blue Devils gave you all as hard of a fight as we possibily could and we respectively lost to a better team. You need to learn to read...I have given total respect to the Devil players. but make the separation between the fans / officials and the team itself. The separation is the point! The coach, the fans, the officiating are not deserving of the calibre of team that exists in Unicoi County. Your boys deserve better! I've said it once and I'll say it once more...The Unicoi coaches, fans and most importantly referees owe Sullivan South an appology. We know we won't get it so what goes around comes around.
  17. To be quite honest Cowgirl, Mtn. City does have a BAD reputation for calling it the way they want to see it. Now I didn't come on here to start with you but if you must know the truth then there you go. The South/J County game of 05' was very bad...not bad enough to ask for someones resignation but it was bad. And yes, we just wrote it off as a bad night with a few bad calls. Everyone has to endure bad nights. The fact is that not only do you have swayed officiating in your house but you play dirty everywhere you go. Now we (THS and SSHS) have garnered respect for you because you play tough football at home or away but your reputation precedes you. You don't like it...too bad it is your tatoo.
  18. You know what?...you're not getting off with that remark. Cooper (I won't even say coach) should have called an official meeting in the middle of the game and told them to call it straight or we will end the game. It was that bad! Now previously in this thread I gave kudos to Cooper for what he is doing with the Devils. Now, I just read the paper and no apology from Cooper. That means that he condoned what happened last night. He was interviewed by the paper so he had an opportunity to say what should have been said. Instead he stoically stated that, "We have already forgotten this game". What a disrespectful weasel. And so, yes Stacy should have let Curt score the last TD and for that matter he should have left the A team in to score again and again and again! Run it up coach...is what we were saying and it is what the devil coaching staff, the community, and the student body deserved. The only respectable Erwin people in the house was the players. I feel sorry for them to be surrounded by such trash! No, I won't tender my words because what happened last night was bad...real bad. And for any of the South fans on this thread to not acknowledge it is wrong. This is how bad it was...It was reported that Stacy told the officials that he would not play another game with the referee in question on the field. Now, I did not hear that myself but I don't doubt it and I PRAISE HIM if he did say it. So for you Devil fans on here...if you don't have an apology then shut you mouth because other than an apology you have nothing to say.
  19. When should he start taking a knee? At the beginning of the fourth quarter? Well, that would have been possible if the officials would have played respectably.
  20. Cowgirl, you are uninformed. There will be an inquiry by TSSAA into the officiating of the South/Unicoi game last night. THS and SSHS both won last night. We are screaming because it was way out of hand not because penaltys caused us to lose.
  21. We were flat in first half. The officiating was really bad. Go to our thread and read about it. But in the second half we woke up big time. We can't play like this in the playoffs. I guess it's a bunch of gamers...big game big effort. Did you see the J County score? Wow. M East looks like a hot ticket even though West crippled them. Did Central score early?
  22. South had to play two teams at once tonight. The Blue Devils and The Zebras. This thread will go all the way to the high 20's because of the officiating. The Blue Devils played hard. They sprinted out of the huddle to the line. They sprinted off the field. They sprinted on the field. They looked well diciplined. If the coach condoned the officiating then he is TRASH! If he is a man he will speak up about it and appoligize to S South for the discusting way this game was called. If my son were a member of this team I would remove him. And then to add insult, the Erwin fans chanted for the South team to get off the field in the middle of their post game celebration and interviews. "Get off our field you can't take pictures", I was told by a Devil fan. I took pictures. For the great effort the Devils showed, their fans, student body, and referees showed the most appalling act of unsportsmanlike conduct I have seen in years. Actually, it was one referee in particular...and he should not be allowed to continue with TSSAA. I guarantee you that in spite of the gentleman that Stacy Carter is he will not let this slide. Yes we won so what does it matter? This is principle of the highest degree. This talented group of players from Erwin do not deserve to be tainted by something they had no control of. I will let someone else give the details because I'm so mad I can't continue. Suffice to say it was nothing short of an abomination.
  23. Yo Cap. Now what was my prediction? That's right...give it up! So give us a run down. Alright, they just woke up...Bristol-35/J County-6. Are ya walkin' wihme...Check it out...Volanteer put it on the 4H club!
