  1. Can someone more familiar with the program tell me how long has Pless been the head coach? And where did he come from? Who was coach before and for how long? They really have a great team and just need a little tweaking.
  2. My film doesn't show the incident on the sideline very well and so I can't determine if it was a late hit or not. During the game I did not see anything. It is hard to see the details while filming. I haven't heard a first hand account yet but maybe I will tomorrow.
  3. You know Volman I know you and have alot of respect for you and it is OK if you think I'm wrong or whatever...but don't disrespect me.
  4. a broken foot cause by a spear to the foot? Obviously, you never played football much less endured a spear. And likewise from your sideline I'm sure the Rebs were squeaky clean. Squeaky Clean is my point...no one is squeaky clean! It's all about perspective. It's not about perspective! It's about rules and regulations and enforcement and detection of said rules and regulations. I still take it as a slap at the program that you would insinuate the tribe players/coaches advocate hurting the other players You my friend are an idiot! I said nothing of the coaches. The players will do as they see fit and the coaches have no control as long as the game is successful and the referees sanction it. The general context of the game in the case of "The DB vs South" saga is a war not a football game! I seriously doubt many (if any) of the players come here and post. I seriously doubt you know who is a player and who is a sayer. It may be a heated rivalry but we are still the same community and in the end it is only football. It goes much deeper than that but you don't see it. However, We respect DB. We admire DB. We want DB to win the 5A state title! We want to be like DB...Yes we want to beat DB...because then we will have done something. And in the end we wish it were only football.outside of what happens in the general context of the game. You have no clue what goes on in the general context of a South DB game do you? All this started because I attempted to clarify to an Elizabethton poster that they shouldn't feel contempt because they felt the game was dirty by expressing that in Love and War all is fair. And what do I get in return? Everyone pulls out the Holier-Than-Thou- attitude. We are all guilty and we are all victims! If I have to battle you all then so be it, but I meant no disregard to DB or anyone else as far as the facts support. I stand behind my original post and its original meaning and for those of you to imbicilic to understand it...then may you endure the rath of stupidity. Yes, read it again, and again, and maybe later on you will get the feel of the meaning.
  5. Everyone missed my point. That part of the post was sarcasm. If the Betsy posters thought that we played dirty then I guessed that we should deduce that the DB game was dirty. And that if the DB game was dirty then on the grand scale of things that would have been equivalent to an education. The whole point is that we didn't complain about the cheap shots. And they shouldn't either. You can't because they happen in every game on both sides of ball. But when Maroon&Gray assumed I was bashing DB for doing something the "Tribe would never do" I felt the need to make it clear that in fact the cheap shots did happen. It's not important whether they happen or not it's how you deal with it. Which was my point to the Betsy poster. And Volman...you said, "D-B didn't cheap shot us. All games have a 'cheap shot' or two. Most are unintentional 'cheap shots'. I won't say this is contradictory because I understand what you are trying to convey, however you are implying that most hits of this nature are incidental. I beg to differ. But that aside, I was only using our unfortunate situation as a means of seeing the absurdness of the complaint. And as far as getting over "it". I am! I have been! However, I must continually refer to "them" as a method of education be it for admiration or condemnation. After all "them" is a measuring stick.
  6. Truth is: the broken foot was a spear. Are you old enough to know what a spear is? And one of the concussions was a spear. And yes it is on film! Are we going to TSSAA? There is dirt in every game...the higher the profile...the more superstars, the more dirt. I was on the South side and I saw the spears. You were on the DB side and evidently did not. One hit was near the sideline, the other near midfield. Spearing is uncommon in todays game but nonetheless devastating. The concussions, the sprains...yes they are part of the game. And the broken foot...well it is part of the game also. No one cried about it. In fact this is the first mention of it at all. The only reason it was mentioned here is to make the Elizabethton fan understand that "It Happens". But, there is always a cheap shot and maybe sometimes not visible. As far as using DB as a focal point...yes we do and will because we aspire to be as great as they are. However, you my friend need to go back to the DB/South thread and read some of the posts by players. Some are downright threats. And if you think some of the DB players did not come into the contest with malicious intent then maybe you should watch volleyball. This game is violent and sometimes unfair and that is the fact. If you don't like it then get out. The whole point of my rant was not to bash DB but to make clear that all players endure tough hits and not to consider yourself singled out. Is our truckload of injuries DB's fault? It's football.
  7. Don't be so timid. Our passing game is the best in the regon...4A or 5A! M West can't stop our offense. What will kill us is turnovers and not capitolizing on red zone opportunities. That is IT! We cannot turn the ball over and win the region. And in the red zone you HAVE TO TAKE THE PRIZE!!! Those 2 issues will be our life or our death.
  8. We knew we had a shot in the spring but...Daniel Boone is for real. Cherokee ain't bad. M West just doesn't make mistakes. For South to have a chance we have to produce results in the red zone. You can't get in the red and go limp...not with this years competition. Each playoff game will be a dogfight including M East. Hopefully by then everyone will be healthy that can be and we can put it all together. Jordan Kitzmiller...another great game...Congratulations! And that endzone break up by KK! That was classic. The guy had him beat by a step and instead to get interference called and save the TD he watched his face and knew when he went for the ball then turned around with hands in the air and...I'm sorry no TD for you. Classic cornerback move! I wish Bradley could get a bit more time on the field...I guess maybe the next three weeks will allow that.
  9. OK. I WAS at the game and Elizabethton played their heart out in the first half. They were very competitive. #54 & #52 were killing Curt. We started out under center and that would have made for a long game given Betsy's determination. We were running the "T" and that is a grinding offense unless you have a breakaway runner and ours gets his cast off next week. So you can take 4 yards a carry and do it that way or shift gears. If we had played bump and grind Elizabethton would have continued to gain momentum and South would have paid a price for it. So, we came out with adjustments that worked and bamm...10 yard screen (countesy of the blitz) and 65 yard scamper to paydirt. The rest is history. South was asleep in the first half. 2 unproductive visits to the red zone...Hello! Elizabethton came prepared...alot of heart! Some 2-a-day coach would take them to the state the first year. And the J County thing...I'm assuming you're accusing us of playing dirty! Fact is, on defense we brought it and clean also! But if you call it dirty then I guess we learned from the best...DB had a workshop on it and the price was 44 zip and one broken foot, two level 2 concussions and numerous other late hit injuries. Yeah, we got it on film also. We shut up took our medicine cried for a few weeks and then got PO'd. Stacy did good, Curt did good the team did good. Fact is when you have an All American player he is going to be featured. Everyone knows I was the one to bash Stacy Carter And Curt but those issues are corrected and lessons learned. Stacy put new sets in tonight that rocked! All in all...Curt was off, Henry was off, the O Line was a bit off but adjustments were made that compensated for it. It took a bit long but we got it. If anyone understands the previous issues with Curt and Stacy it is I and that is a forgotten chapter. Curt did what he had to do. One more thing; Elizabethton players stayed on the field for 45 minutes through the South celebration and photography extravaganza mingling with the South players as if to be friends. They were in no hurry to board the bus back to Carter County but instead HobNob'ed with the South elite. Out of character for a team beaten by a classless cheapshot laden group of wanabes! Respect begets Respect.
  10. CHMS is on top year in year out. A little down this year but it's the first time in 10 years. Holston is always their closest competitor. I wonder what happens when they get to Central? Coaching is everything. A good coach can take nothing and produce something. Gary Surcey could be a good coach but no one can instantly produce miracles. Remember...it's 90% mental. J County is for real...make no mistake they will bring it. You will have to play the best game you've played yet. They will give Bristol fits...if that tells you anything. They caught South at a terrible time and almost banked it. If you do not reach deep down in you gut and pull out some intestinal fortitude then you will get schooled. You will either fight hard or get the worst beating of your season. Good Luck from the South Side.
  11. No flat spots here except for one high RPM glitch...Bristol will almost double that score as they come down the backstretch.
  12. Bristol takes it 44-7. I know, I'm out of character...but it's not a South prediction. The backup QB will get some much needed playing time. Viking return man will punish East.
  13. Exactly! North will have to fight for that 4th place spot provided we don't do something stupid.
  14. IMO looks like regon 2 is M/West, M/East, D/Boone, Cherokee. If region 1 ends up South, Bristol, J County, North then can someone tell me who plays who? Because I don't think Mtn. City will beat Bristol in spite of the good game it will be. And I don't think Boone beats East, however in the last 3 M/East has Cherokee, G'ville, and Boone. That's a mouthful but I think they will win them all unless G'ville goes mental. Actually 4th place in the MLC is up for grabs so we'll see.
  15. Waco...go back to Riverview...And see if you can requisition some of that 12 mill they just inherited. Maybe some of that money will go to rebuild J Fred Johnson Stadium...and get some visitors seats. Or maybe we could get you to take Eastman Rd. and just make a nice little campus and build a Dome. Better hurry before the state takes over the county/city system.
  16. Bristol is @ J County. The crystal ball says the 2nd round is just as you have stated.
  17. Correct. They are @ East, Central @ home, @ J County, @ North.
  18. DB will make it to the finals and then lose. MWest will not prevail this year. Yes, our Rap is weak but our chances are better now than in the past 20 years.
  19. I was at the Castle for the DB game and yes, you had them on the run. In the end it was, in my opinion, a lack of diversity that beat Bristol. Turnovers aside, I feel that in todays football enviornment being one dimensional is a tolling of the death knell. And that was my heated, foaming at the mouth, why can't you see the problem, argument with Stacy Carter which dates back to the 05 campaign. Had we not changed the game plan for the game with you we would have been slaughtered. You have to create diversion. The tempo of the game, the level of talent, the tremendous expectations from these kids, all combine to make todays atmosphere much different than in the 70's. So from seeing you play against DB I saw that we were in the shiz. I knew we would be buried if we did not change. Change we did and that brought us new momentum...new direction. Yes, I too think we have a chance with MWest now. As for you, you have it all...the Oline, the Dline, the backs, the great kicking game, the tradition. You just need another tool...your passing game. And I think that is what Stubbs will do. You are better than us you just had a bad game? I don't know about that. We're different. You look stronger, more intense. Your play is fierce. But when adversity strikes you look confused, diffused. Granted, you came back each time. I guess what I would like is to play you again. I think if we met again in the Region then a tale would be told!
  20. OK, before I get outta this thread I want to say one thing...Will Region 1 please put the MOJO on Region 2?! I'm tired of hearing that NET football is weak. Good luck in the playoffs Vikings and Rebels!
  21. OK Cap...I'm relaxed. I just watched the replay of the game and I will give you one consolation...If you had a passing game we would have been in trouble. And I think you sorta have one but you just don't practice it. I look for you to throw the ball next time. Oh and by the way...I'm a South fan. My son is uh...number uh...and he plays uh...aaaghh you'll figure it out. Aaaaagghhh Yeeeeaaaaaghh!!!
  22. Cap, maybe you haven't paid attention to my posts since I got here but I don't partake in trash, don't use buzzwords, have no need to sound koolio, and most importantly...have no need to be politically correct. I call it as I see it! And when it comes to my team I am spot-on! When it comes to the competition I give respect where it is due and don't overstep my bounds. I make it a point to give past, present, and future considerations based on a teams history, attitude, and talent level. No, I don't like to make predictions because it is pretentious and in this game it is best not to lose sight of the goal...otherwise anything can happen. I thought there was hope for you but now I see you are just an adolescent with an adolescents point of view. "Don't start none won't be none"...I guess that's just Playa' talk...but I doubt you are a "Playa" or a player. At any rate...no one will pay any attention to what you have to say now. You put yourself in a position to be respected and we respected you. Now you put yourself in a position to be rejected...so be it. Like I said long ago...one dimensional.
  23. Cap...We said we would respect you on this site because of your displayed sportsmanship...but you are backsliding even as we speak. DB taught us a lesson...put up or shut up! We taught you a lesson...put up or shut up! Maybe Elizabethton will teach us another lesson. Maybe Johnson county will teach you another lesson. We did not rationalize our loss to DB. We lashed out at our coach for putting his head in the sand...Now he commands a Roman Legion! We lashed out at our SuperStar QB for being all about himself...Now he is Maximus Decimus Meridius. If your team has a problem then address it. And trust me, they do have issues. I screamed about South's problems. We ambled through 3 weeks of uncertainty and then with 2 weeks to prepare for you...we saw the light. Now we are to be reconed with...however, with the correct attitude and mentality even the lowliest of teams can be born again. Your Holier-Than-Thou attitude will be the death of your organization. I suggest you go back through the fire and come out the other side tempered for battle again instead to cry and whine that "they beat us but we're better than they are"! Get on with it.
