  1. Is that what it meant? Dang, I hate it when it does that. I guess I better be nice seeing as how we might be in your conference soon. At least according to Batmast. I mean no offense and all but I like playing like Gate City and Knox West and the likes. But when they make South a City school and ship all the overflow from DB to South then we might just have to jump up a classification instead to go down. Whooeeeee, wouldn't that piece some people off just a little down the road. I actually see South being better in 2011 than they were this year. Oops, I done said it. Watch out, that's the kind of stuff that makes Batmast mad.
  2. Naw Crawdad, Batmast don't want to be kicked off the board for being the first responder.
  3. Kudos to Volunteer. Seems like they are going to beat the door down for number 3.
  4. I am not at odds with the TSSAA per se. But anyone with any measure of common sense can see the Z plan is garbage. The previous system was better hands down. But you say that coaches run the TSSAA. Well IMOP coaches do one thing good...coach. I point you no further than the coaches ALL STATE team. As compared to the Sports Writers ALL STATE team. In addition, I point you to the rosters of the ALL STAR games. The Coaches ALL STATE team is nothing more than a "I'll sign your health bill, if you sign my labor union bill" greased handshake. And the ALL STAR rosters are proprietary to who is coaching the team and who he keeps close to the vest. If an ALL STATE player does not make the ALL STAR team over a player who did not make ALL STATE would you think we have a problem? I don't care if you have been a coach or a teacher or an adminstrator or all of the previous, politics are out of hand at every level in government and corporate America. TSSAA is no different. So post how many employees the TSSAA has. Post how many jobs are charity. Then post the salaries. I garantee you someone is making far too much money for far too little work. The Z Plan has no logic whatsoever. The regular season is a disaster. The playoffs moronic. By the way, who does the TSSAA reconcile to? Exactly.
  5. South was up by 15 twice and by 10 and 12 during the contest. I counted MoEast missed 12 foul shots and what looked like 40% FG average. In other words, they gave it to South. South tried their best to give it back late in the 4th but prevailed. South has serious depth on the bench but it needs reps. And it is getting it. Time will make them valuable. Currently, they are haphazard as a team. Just need to settle in and step it up. Looks like Coach Tate is very much into this season. This team has much potential. We'll see as they grow.
  6. Actually not really. I saw DB play 4 games. I only saw holding calls in one game. And that was South. Actually I should say that I only saw holding in one game. Regardless of whether it was called or not. That's alot of penalty yardage...especially if it was not holding. Holding is a relatively easy call but the other 15 yard penalties are not quite the easy call. I was not at the Bearden game but would sure like to see the film. Anyway, just curious what all the penalties were for.
  7. I'm not mad at anyone. And when you say cherry picking talent you need to understand what you are referring to. Cherry picked talent playing against cherry picked talent all across the country. These so called cherry picked teams are playing the best of the best and for only one reason. To secure a college scholarship. When you see the actual coaches from Division I schools at these tournaments then you get a grip on the weight of the situation. When was the last time you saw an actual Division I coach on a scouting venture at any of your high school games? Yes, there are wonderful high school coaches. And there are top shelf programs. But most understand that Division I rides are a product of premier AAU organizations. Possibly Science Hill is one good exception.
  8. This is probably not a place to argue who was more instumental in these girls careers. But from my experience the single most influential coach in my experience was the middle school coach. And the single most knowledgeable coach was the AAU coach. Techniques learned in Justin Wimmers presence are skills I have yet to see replicated at the high school level regardless of the program. And I am talking about basic skills. Albeit, college level basic skills. And that is why these girls are getting the recognition they are getting. Is that they have been taught skill sets that are of the college level. These skills were not taught in high school and any of these girls will testify to that. Wimmer is not an easy man to play for but his dedication is far superior to most any dedication level I have witnessed in any setting. Please coach, don't leave us yet. Signed...Greatful.
  9. Bush. The most incredibly illiterate president we have ever had.
  10. Batmast, you know as much as anyone else. So why not give your opinion instead to bait and hook others? I mean half of the Rebel camp claim Alex will be the next General and the other half say no way in Hades. What do you say?
  11. The best team DB has had in 10 years. I think everyone agrees on this statement. The offense was chocked full of athletes. The defense was awesome with one exception. Secondary. Add to that a weak kicking game. How do you have the best athletes you have had in 10 years and have a weak secondary and a weak kicking game? I don't know. I just know that next year they are going to have IT again.
  12. How many of those 100+ yards were offensive holding?
  13. Cloudland and Hampton are in God's country. If you haven't seen it you need to. They just so happen to have good football teams every year. But sorry, Mountain East won't work for the Big 8. It's all about the lakes...the Mountain Lakes...fish you can eat and bears and snakes and such...
  14. OK Bud I'll bite. DB had the players. So IMOP that was not the problem. 1. Karma. 2. Coaches. 3. Playing a weak schedule. 4. Mental preparedness. 5. Lack of experience in playoffs. I would cite 1 and 2.
  15. Yeah man, I got some news today that knocked me for a flip. I had to be medicated. So I'm sort of out of my body a bit.
  16. For the Big 8 POY I will have to go with Hayden. The Big 8 Offensive POY has to go to Seabolt. NET POY? has to be either Carmichael or Spradlin. NET Offensive POY???
  17. At the DB/Farragut game most of the visitor section was Big 8 fans. Farragut brought next to nothing. I sat with them and they were more concerned with the race than the game.
  18. The economic factor is a fact of life. I don't think any of the Knoxville area teams travel well. Meanwhile South is as fanatical as Texas commnities in this regard. Gate City fans are a good $. Probably almost as good as DB. When South travels we take every drop of blood relation and then some. We will be hard pressed to find such dedication.
  19. Toss, I am not an advocate of running scared. And as a HC I would probably schedule even more difficult opponents. Just the way I see it. I hate the current TSSAA format and I see it changing drastically for the next model year. But it is obvious that a program can't wait for them to get their act together. Racing improves the breed and I say bring it on. Let the chips fall where they may. But my opinion means nothing and it is what it is. I would keep Greeneville, GC, and Knox West. I would only replace them with like quality opponents regardless of the implications. The TSSAA has dumbed it down and most everyone doesn't like it. Just my view.
  20. How about Happy Valley. Or maybe Colonial Heights Middle.
