  1. Irishdad: No, he does not deserve any props. 103 was the weakest weight class in the whole tournament and should not be used as a criteria for rankings.
  2. It just doesn't matter because McCallie will win the State Duals, and the Chattanooga-area teams will finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
  3. Hey Tex: There was no boasting in that thread. I don't really have a love of MBA (I am more partial to blue than red), but why don't you check out MBA's wrestling schedule on their website and tell me what Nashville area D1 teams they have not ruined! Don't bother, here are the scores of their matches with Nashville area D1 teams: MBA beat Centennial 69-6; FRA 57-13; Overton 55-16; Brentwood 67-7; Hillsboro 64-12; and Smyrna 76-6. I think PinU46 was merely trying to point out that they have run the table in their neck of the woods with D1 teams. I doubt that MBA would have such an easy task in the Chattanooga area with Soddy, Bradley, and Redbank. Nonetheless, MBA is a good team and probably deserves more respect that it gets both from D1 and D2 fans. Anyway, it really is irrelevant because MBA doesn't have to compete against the D1 powerhouses, it has to compete against the D2 powerhouses; especially Baylor, McCallie, and Ryan!
  4. Who cares! His rankings were WAY, WAY off. Stick with the AP Poll.
  5. Why are Ryan and Franklin in the same pool? I sure wouldn't want to drive all the way from Nashville to Memphis to wrestle a school 10 minutes away from my campus that I already have on the schedule. It seems like either Ryan or Franklin should be in pool B and then move either CBHS or Houston to pool A. (Especially since CBHS and Houston wrestle a dual tomorrow night!) It appears that logic got body slammed!
  6. Gripper, I could not agree with you more. Boy, it would have been great to have Bradley, Soddy, and Baylor in the mix! Ryan could have charged as much as they wanted because people would pay to see those matches. Sadly, that did not and probably will not happen any time in the near future.
  7. First of all, I want to say how great it was to see some of the best wrestlers in the state compete against each other. Kuddos to all who had the courage to put it on the line and take on strong competition. That being said, DII came out on top in the head-to-head competition winning 9 of the 11 match-ups. Here are the finals results: 103 - Sherbakoff (WEBB) defeated Shelton (KEN) 112 - Dunning (RYAN) defeated Ortiz (FRANK) 119 - Simpson (MBA) defeated [pinned, tapped out] Cox (KEN) 125 - Hiller (RYAN) defeated Ibranhim (OVER) 130 - Holliman (BW) defeated Seaman (MJ) 135 - Cleveland (McC) defeated [pinned] McKnight (RB) 140 - Myers (RYAN) defeated [pinned] Dix (FAR) 145 - Blair (McC) defeated [pinned] Davis (FRANK) 152 - Miller (BEN [Ala.]) defeated Bourneman (HOU) 160 - Graham (COL) defeated Mayo (Ryan) 171 - Stark (RYAN) defeated Valentine (LIP) 189 - Pease (CLK) defeated Adams (RYAN) 215 - Walsh (BA) defeated Lomas (RYAN) 275 - Forte (BA) defeated Jones (CLK) DII also dominated the team competition by claiming the top three places. Here are the top 10: Ryan McCallie MBA Franklin Clarksville Overton Benjamin Russell (Ala.) Kenwood Dickson Collierville Overall, it was a great tournament and well worth the trip to Nashville. Well done Father Ryan and I am already looking forward to next year!
  8. I went up to Nashville to see two of the best teams in the state play in what I thought would be an absolute slugfest. Instead, I saw a less physically talentend but vastly superior coached team dismantle a more physically talented team. Wow, Jeff Rutledge and his staff have done an incredible job two years in a row! As for all the whining about who has class and who doesn't and what songs/ signs are appropriate and what songs/ signs are not appropriate -- How about some cheese to go with that whine?! Get over it, obviously, the better team won and MBA is the Division II State Champion. All the whining in the world won't change the fact that BA was outcoached and outplayed, AGAIN! So, BA players and fans, please take your own advice and don't make excuses. Rather, admit that you were soundly beat and start preparing for next season. Surely, the fifth time will be lucky. (Unless, of course, you have to play McCallie in the Clinic Bowl next season!)
  9. In DII, HW is going to be very weak. Find a big kid with a pulse and he will probably place in the top 6!

What an awesome article! I think that Coach Ramos may very well be the luckiest / most blessed coach in the world. What an inspirational young man. I hope to see him wrestling some day.
  11. Is Shawn "Cry Me A River" Springer going to be giving instruction on how to shoot on a guy that outweighs you by 30-odd pounds?
  12. Hey Springer, it looks as though you are the one who did yourself when you ran like a little girl from Thornhill and got whipped like a dog by Cooper. Please quit being such a sore loser!!!!!!!!!!!!! [Edited by Bluewhirlygig on 2-20-03 10:11A]
  13. Reckoning Day is here for MBA! Then, tomorrow, CBHS and Ryan will suffer the wrath of the mighty Blue Tornadoes!!
  14. Okay all of you naysayers, we will see come Friday and Saturday who is way off base! I know McCallie wrestling and I know that neither MBA, CBHS, nor Ryan can compete with our men because none of them can match McCallie's strength, skill, or desire to win. Nothing against any of those teams, but McCallie is just too tough for them this year.
  15. Reftn, my gig is sailing on smooth air. Walkenvol, you had better have your glasses tinted in a darker, bolder blue. Come on Reftn and Walkenvol, how in the world do you think those MBA boys will be able to hang with powerful, skillful, and aggressive men of McCallie?! Be real. Look at the match-ups: 103- White (McC) v. Bellett (MBA) = McC +6 112- Roberts (McC) v. Simpson (MBA) = MBA +3 119- Cleveland (McC) v. Francis (MBA) = McC +6 125- Silberman (McC) v. Dade (MBA) = McC +4 130- Smith (McC) v. Woolsey (MBA) = McC +6 135- Manley (McC) v. Tate (MBA) = McC +6 140- Blair (McC) v. Herron (MBA) = McC +4 145- Scott (McC) v. Hall (MBA) = McC +6 152- Connell (McC) v. Donlon (MBA) = McC +6 160- Levitt (McC) v. Kelly (MBA) = McC +6 171- Hobbs (McC) v. Lutrell (MBA) = MBA +5 189- Rudolph (McC) v. Goodman (MBA) = MBA +3 215- Hutchenson (McC) v. Thornhill (MBA) = MBA +6 275- Green (McC) v. Cooper (MBA) = MBA +3 FINAL SCORE: McC 50, MBA 20 The McCallie men will head-butt and front-headlock (or should I say choke-lock) those MBA boys all the way back to Nashville. Count on it!!!!!

  17. Gatling/ Marable: You are truly a legend in your own mind. MBA was at the Ryan Tournament. They finished a very distant second behind Ryan but slightly ahead of McCallie and well ahead of CBHS. Also, according to their schedules, neither MBA nor Clarksville had free time to prepare exclusively for Ryan. No Gatling, in this case, your opinion is neither fact nor money. Rather, it is merely like most of your comments: either inflamatory, ignorant, or biased.
  18. Wow, first Father Ryan is upset by archrival MBA and then they are upset by Clarksville. Not to take anything away from either MBA or Clarksville, but what is happening to the Irish?! After stellar performances at the McCallie Invitational and the Ryan Invitational, I expected them to be the team to beat at the DII State Tournament. While I still expect them to be among the top three, I now feel as though the title is truly up for grabs between Ryan, McCallie, and MBA. Help me out Irish fans. What is going on up there?
  19. McCallie defeated Soddy last night 35-27. It was an exciting match that started at 103 and came down to the last match at 275. 103 ˜ Michael White (M) p. 20. Leslie Morrow of Sequoyah High School in Canton, GA (outside of Atlanta) beat Phillip Simpson in the finals of the McCallie Invitattional. However, unlike Phillip who went on to become a 4X Tennessee state champion, Leslie only became a 3X Georgia state champion - he lost in the finals his senir year!
  21. Sly: I did not get your knickers in a knot, I got your panties in a twist. Quit your belly-aching and PLEASE persuade Logsdon to agree to settle it on the mat!
  22. Gatling: I am afraid that your analysis is completely void of any intelligence or reason. Now let me be very clear, I DO NOT have a dog in this fight, but from looking at the results in an earlier post, MBA spanked CBHS 46 - 27 with several back-ups in their lineup at 160, 171, and 275. Moreover, since the whoop'in MBA put on CBHS is very close to the whoop'in Ryan put on CBHS, there does not seem to be that much between the the two teams. Nonetheless, I guess the issue will be decided on January 10, 2003. Regardless, it is obvious to anyone and everyone that CBHS will continue to be a bridesmaid everywhere outside of Memphis; especially in Nashville and Chattanooga.!
  23. Silverbullet: Sorry I got your knickers in a knot! Take a deep breath and try to calm down. You got so excited that your fine Bradley mathematical education failed you. I would love it if Logsdon would agree to wrestle private schools and I would be happy to see Bradley at the McCallie tournament. However, I am not going to hold my breath because I would be one blue tornado! Logsdon will never compete at the McCallie tournament because there is a real possibility that one of his wrestlers could lose to a D2 wrestler but then go on to become a D1 state champion, which would diminish the prestige of the D1 title. So, Bradley will continue to host a watered down tournament while McCallie will continue to host one of the best tournaments in the Southeast, which would only be better if Bradley were present.
  24. Once again, the Bradley Invitational will be characterized by a complete lack of competition while on the other side of town, one of the toughest tournaments in the Southeast will be going on at McCallie. It is a shame that the only time Bradley will compete against private schools is by holding their tournament the same date as the McCallie Invitational. They should save themselves the embarrassment of producing such a weak tournament and change the date. If you want to see a blowout this weekend, Bradley is the place to be; however, if you want to see some of the best wrestlers in the entire Southeast, then be at McCallie!
  25. Cranewich61: Since your email address ends in "montgomerybell.com", I will assume that you are an ill-informed MBA wrestler who knows as little about wrestling in general as you do about wrestling in Chattanooga in particular. There is no one named Grazino at ND and they certainly do not have anyone with such credentials. Perhaps you should stick to topics you know about (; i.e., getting pinned, designer clothes, not getting a date, etc.) because you obviously don't know anything about Chattanooga wrestling.
