  1. CHS has a home football game Friday night in the playoffs. They wanted to switch the basketball game and tonight was the only night they could do it.
  2. Big test for Clarksville tonight. Two games in one night. Franklin at 5:00. Nashville Advancement Christian Academy at 7:00. NACA has three future D1 players who have verbally committed. With that talent, they should run over a lot of teams. They're also scheduled to play the Oak Hill Academy later in the season. It'll be fun to see how Clarksville handles them having already played a full game. On a side note, that 7:00 game should be of particular interest to Austin Peay fans. The three commits from NACA (James Harris, Robert Elem, & Mike Smith) and Tyrone Caldwell will all be wearing the Peay unis next year.
  3. Woe to us in District 10. /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> Maybe there's a shift of power on the horizon...........on second thought...........probably not. Good luck to both of our region foes.
  4. Had a couple teams strong enough to do it last year (Central, Fairview, Harpeth CA). In fact, Fairview did and was the first team to win a region game from District 10 since I can remember. And I've been involved with MC soccer and this district for almost ten years now. All of the teams in District 10 had big turnovers and lost a lot of talented seniors. It would be great to see another win this year, but my gut feeling tells me it probably won't. You are correct about the difficulty, though, and a discussion about this always brings up the private/public debate. (Which nobody wants to deal with.) Soccer's a crazy game though and anybody can win on any given night.

  6. The ties are pretty beneficial for WH-H considering how the district is figuring seeding for the tournament. According to the report I've seen, they are giving 2 points for a win and 1 point for a tie. This gives WH-H 11 points and puts them at 2nd in the district. Don't know why the 2:1 ratio instead of 3:1. Doesn't seem right that a team with only 2 wins in the district would be seeded higher than teams with at least 4 wins (which there are 3 of right now.) Something may change, that remains to be seen.
  7. I'm fairly certain that they are still winless on the season. However, they have three or four girls with some talent and should be a decent team in the near future. When we (Montgomery Central) played them, I think we took them for granted. They hustle, run to every ball, and many of the girls play the entire game. It's good to see them finally get a team, because Waverly supports their teams better than several other schools. Should prove to make District 10 more competitive.
  8. District 10 A/AA is considering dividing their ten-team district into two different divisions (north/south). Right now it's decided to let the upcoming boys season serve as a trial period. Just wondering if there were any other districts set up similar to this. How many games against divisional opponents in the regular season? How is the postseason set up? Looking for a little help in getting it all together.
  9. Montgomery Central went into halftime leading 2-0. From a fan/coach's perspective, CPA seemed to be looking past this game and Central came out ready to play. They scored both goals on breakaways and had CPA on their heels. After halftime they made the needed adjustments and realized they had to play soccer if they wanted to win. In the end, I think we saw the real CPA in the second half and a tired Central defense was unable to withstand the constant pressure. It's hard to beat a team like CPA when you don't have a lot of depth and I think that was a problem for Central. Plus you can't make a lot of mistakes and all three goals came on account of a breakdown in the defense. Nothing to be ashamed of though. Credit has to go to Central's keeper with an outstanding performance against a talented offensive team and the duo up front for putting the goals in. Hopefully the team earned a little bit of respect for District 10 in the future.
  10. Give the District 10 kids a little bit of credit...hopefully they won't both be shutouts. Haven't seen Hume Fogg play but I hope they are able to be physical on the ball. As one Cheatham parent told me..."they (Cheatham) just have big boys who'll do just about anything to get to the ball." And, as was the case for Central in the championship, it's kinda hard to score when you're on the ground. As for Montgomery Central...they've got two talented guys up front that may just be able to work something together and make it a little interesting. Not predicting any upsets but both teams will have some opportunities. By the way...not sure of the exact details from the game, but Cheatham lost to CPA 3-2 in a preseason match. Fairly close some might say. Doubt that has any implication on the present games, but it's fun to speculate.
  11. Inclement weather (or what the referees thought was inclement) postponed the tournament. Central and Harpeth will resume their game at 5:30. There were about 15 minutes left in the first half with Central up 1-0 when they stopped the game. Cheatham and WHH will follow at 7:30. The final will be Saturday at 11:00 at Creekwood.
  12. Central is playing Harpeth...winner over Creekwood 4-0
  13. Have any of the 9 A/AA fans seen any of the 10 A/AA teams play? If so what are some opinions on the chance of a 10 A/AA team breaking through to the region final?
  14. Competitive tournament this year...two top seeds were taken to overtime. One had to score in extra time just to get there. I was at the Central game and Sycamore played their best soccer all year. They were an entirely different team from what Central played in the regular season. Hopefully this was a wakeup call for both teams because I would love to see a Central/Cheatham final. It's a good little rivalry that's heated up in recent years and always provides for some intense soccer.
  15. Fairly typical... 1/8/9 will play 4/5 and 2/7 will play 3/6...and so on
  16. The Semifinals and Finals will be played at Creekwood on Thursday and Friday
  17. Region 5 District 10 A/AA Tournament First round games played at higher seed Monday May 7 (8) Sycamore v. (9) East Robertson Tuesday May 8 (1) Montgomery Central v. (8) Sycamore (2) Cheatham County v. (7) Clarksville Academy (3) White House Heritage v. (6) Fairview (4) Harpeth v. (5) Creekwood
  18. The team is definitely down a little bit...they lost a couple players who were probably starters to disciplinary problems before the season.
  19. Well even though it is true that Clarksville (or Cunningham, which is actually where the school is located) isn't in West TN, I appreciate your including Michelle as one of your original choices. She deserves a lot of credit for the things she has done this year and in her career.
  20. h2odog, i have no idea who you are...but we lost tonight and you made my night. I'm sure you will raise the spirits of a lot of my girls as well. I appreciate every word you said. Thanks.
  21. Sorry...but I'm going to take this statement a little personal. I have been the assistant coach of Montgomery Central's womens soccer team for the past three years. But, I have been around the program ever since it started seven years ago. Coming into this season we had no idea what to expect from our girls. Scheduling for us has never been an issue. We play the same teams every year because we don't need to convince anybody of anything. We just want to play soccer and teach these girls more about the game. Luckily for us, we had an amazing group of seniors who led our team throughout the season. This team surpassed all of our expectations. Granted, we may have played some teams of lesser skill, but that wasn't our plan. Our girls played their hearts out every game, no matter the competition. For you, someone who probably never saw us play, to make a statement like this is totally disrespectful to our program and to the accomplishments that our girls are so proud of. We don't have the pool of talent to choose from or the noteriety to persuade kids to come play for us. We just take raw athletic ability (mostly players from other sports) and develop it into what we can get. Half of our student body probably doesn't even know what soccer is. So let it be known, that Montgomery Central wasn't out to show off and try to take the spot of any perennial powerhouse. We just played soccer and ended up with a great season. Good luck to everyone else.

  23. So we misunderstood...only Montgomery Central's game got pushed to Wednesday. Everything else is the same.
  24. The Monday game was postponed until Tuesday due to weather thus pushing all of the Tuesday games back to Wednesday. The rest of the schedule remains unchanged.
